Softpedia Editor's Review for CD / DVD Data Recovery

An easy-to-use tool to recover corrupted file from CD and DVD
Written by Bogdan Popa on March 23rd, 2012
CD / DVD Data Recovery is a software tool designed to help recover data from damaged or corrupted CDs and DVDs.
The application can work with all types of data, which means you can attempt to recover files from both audio and video discs, as it scans disk sectors and recovers corrupted content in a very effective manner.
Although you may expect a more complicated interface, CD / DVD Data Recovery relies on a rather simple look, with basic options and tools that could be safely used by rookies too.
You can add folders or files to recover, but also choose destination folder and speed control. The slower the speed control is, the longer the time needed to complete the task, but this also improves the overall efficiency of the app.
There are no other configuration options, but CD / DVD Data Recovery also displays a log window to display the results of the recovery process, showing the copying status for every single selected file.
Usually, CD / DVD Data Recovery performs the task in just a few minutes, but this also depends on the overall quality of the disc and the amount of data to recover. If you're trying to get back data from a severely damaged disc, it could take up to a few hours but, again, this depends on a number of factors.
On the good side, CD / DVD Data Recovery works with all Windows versions and doesn't even ask for administrator privileges on Windows 7, remaining very light on hardware resources all the time.
All in all, it does what it says and although the overall number of features is quite limited, it's an excellent tool to handle damaged discs in a very quick way.
