Easy Duplicate Finder is an application which enables you to locate duplicate files on your hard drive. Thus, you are able to optimize disk space by keeping the originals and getting rid of the rest.

You should be careful when installing this software on your computer. Since it is an ad-supported product, Easy Duplicate Finder offers to download and install some third-party components that it doesn't need to work properly, and to make some changes to your web browsers.

The user interface of the app is clean and easy to navigate through, thanks to the Explorer-based layout. You can select folders or volumes to add to the scanning task.

Furthermore, you can define searching filters, such as including and excluding particular file types, as well as setting the minimum and maximum file size. But you can also add specific folders to an exclusion list.

Once the scanning job finishes, you can view the total number of files, the ones which have duplicates, the original files and the duplicate ones, as well as their size on the hard drive.

Since groups of files (originals + duplicates) are marked by the group number, you can easily select which ones you want to delete. But you can also use an auto-select function, rename files or move them to a folder.

In the "Settings" menu, you can set the file search parameters (e.g. compare music tags, Outlook emails, include EXIF tags, scan subdirectories, skip scan on the Recycle Bin, remove empty folders, skip compressed files, skip Windows and application folders), preferences (e.g. launch program on startup), music tags and Outlook emails, as well as enable logging and use a CRC calculator.

The program uses a low amount of system resources and includes a well-written help file. We haven't come across any problems during our tests and highly recommend Easy Duplicate Finder to all users.
