FileMany

FileMany is an efficient tool that helps you search you hard drive for duplicate files, so that you can take the appropriate measures in order to clean up the clutter.

This software utility does not require installation, which means that you can easily copy the program files on any location on the hard drive to run it directly. Aside from that, you can also place them on a portable storage device, such as a USB flash drive, so that you can easily run FileMany from any computer that you have access to. In addition to that, the Windows registry and Start menu/screen are not going to get updated with new entries.

The interface of the software tool is intuitive and highly customizable, seeing that you can switch between different view modes, hide or show different tool bars and change the font’s style, size and color.

All you have to do in order to start looking for duplicates is choose a particular folder or partition and click the “Search” button. This process can be paused at any time. Once the scan has been completed, FileMany is going to display the number of duplicate groups and files, and the search time. Items are shown in a list in the main window, along with details such as path, size, extension and creation date.

From the settings panel you can choose how to filter the files, like excluding some extensions such as SYS, so as not to delete system files by mistake. The duplicate files can be sent to the trash, deleted or moved to a specific directory.
