SE-Explorer

Windows lets you navigate through the content of your computer and perform all necessary operations through File Explorer. Needless to say that the web is full of alternatives which aim to increase functionality, and one suitable example in this regard is SE-Explorer, coming with a rich set of tools.

The application takes little time to install, but it requires .NET Framework to function, so it’s a good idea to first make sure it’s on your computer. Quite the variety of features can be found, such as a dual-pane explorer for your files, search tool, size scanner, as well as a built-in web browser to cut the dependency of using multiple tools for different purposes.

You start off in the file manager, but there are also some other tabs opened. A couple of panes are at your disposal so you easily browse locations of interest. Several view types let you switch between lists and icons modes. The application comes with its own set of operations, but you can also use the default context menu.

The search tool is pretty much designed as the Windows default correspondent. Built-in functions make it easy to locate multimedia items, text inside files, recently changed items, files by tags, embedded resources, folders, or all files. More than that, the list of results can be saved as playlist, text file, or sent to clipboard.

You can easily get a better view of overall space distribution on your computer through the size scanner. It can be targeted at folders or entire drives, with filters to show disk summary, folder size, top largest files, file type info, extension info, or size info.

As mentioned, the application includes several more tools. Each opens in its own tab, with the possibility to have more of the same type active at a time. Among others, you also benefit from a command prompt tool, file and folder compare, as well as a media player.

All things considered, we can state that SE-Explorer is surely a reliable tool when it comes to file management in case File Explorer doesn’t quite tickle your fancy. It includes an impressive variety of functions, with the possibility to use more instances, each in its own tab.
