Finding and fixing disk errors is quite an important job for all computers users in the world, and even if Windows comes with a dedicated tool to address this issue, there are still a lot of other apps in the market supposed to do it better.

With a pretty self-explanatory name, CheckDisk is a program that has the power to verify your computer’s hard disk and, in case it finds some errors, to attempt to repair them.

It’s incredibly easy to use CheckDisk because the application relies on a very simple and clean interface that doesn’t involve the user too much.

In fact, the only things you have to do is to pick the drive you wish to scan, choose from one of the available scan types and start the scan per se.

There are three test types available, standard, thorough and “check if dirty”, but we’d say it’s better to go for the second one, just to make sure there are no errors on your disk.

The standard test takes just a few minutes, so try to avoid using the computer as long as the app performs the scan, but also remember to close the other running applications before initiating the scan.

The thing we missed the most during our test was the documentation which doesn’t even exist, so in case you want some info on the things you’re going to do, it’s better to search the web, there’s a lot of informative stuff out there.

But all in all, CheckDisk is worth a try, not only because it’s free, but also thanks to the fact that it can do many more things than the default Windows feature.
