Kingston Format Utility 220.127.116.11
A handy tool for formatting your Kingston USB flash drives
The DataTraveler HyperX storage devices are formatted by using the FAT32 file system in order to be recognized on multiple platforms. However, this file system does limit the file size to 4 GB which can be frustrating when you need to use your device for larger files.
If you have formatted the flash drive to a different file system and are having problems with reading the stored data on certain computers, the Kingston Format Utility allows you to restore the original FAT32 system with just one click.
The program automatically analyzes the connected USB devices and allows you to select the Kingston flash drive that you want to format. Since the format deletes the information from the device, you need to make sure that the important information is backed up on your hard drive.
You can also use the application to restore the firmware on the devices that are not properly recognized by the computer. If you cannot use your flash drive because it is not formatted properly, this tool can help you revert it to the original parameters.
The interface of the program is quite simple and requires no previous experience or configuration in order to format your device. You just need to plug it in and launch the app to restore the file system to the default parameters.
If your Kingston DataTraveler is not recognized or you receive error messages when trying to access the stored data, you should try to format it with the Kingston Format Utility before purchasing a new USB drive.
