How many times did you have to format your local hard drive and reinstall Windows because the system was much too cluttered with data, causing it to go berserk?

The Disk Defragmenter incorporated in Windows is pretty good, but it still can't keep up with modern standards imposed by the latest features in operating systems.

Power Defragmenter is a free hard disk utility with very advanced GUI. In other words, it sends Disk Defragmenter home packing!

Once you downloaded the freeware, make sure to unzip the file instead of running it directly, because Power Defragmenter will require to download a file called Contig.

After this, you can select the defragmentation mode right from the beginning. You can either choose to defragment files, folders, disks, or TriplePass disk defragmentation.

The option to defragment files and folders allow up to four units to work at once.

When we tried to defragment a file, the application jammed at the browser, but then again, we tried running it on Windows 7. The other defragmenting options work perfectly.

TriplePass is an enhanced defragmentation that processes data in three passes.

Once you choose a task to perform, Power Defragmenter will open a window in Command Prompter and start working. When the task is completed, a confirmation window pops up, after which you are free to choose another defragmenting option.

Canceling is possible at any time, by simply exiting the command prompter.

It seems that Power Defragmenter allows multiple instances, but that's probably not recommended.

In conclusion, Power Defragmenter is a powerful tool that consumes very low CPU resources. Forget about formatting, Windows reinstalling, and using the built-in Disk Defragmenter. This application will work twice as hard and effective!
