Setup doesn’t keep you busy for a long time, and the application is automatically added to system registry entries. Don’t worry, there’s also an option to remove it from there, just in case you want to rely on default methods later on. In terms of visuals, accommodation is a walk in the park, but be careful when experimenting, because a press of a button is enough to activate a function.

As the name clearly points out, the application’s core function is to make it easier to shut down your computer, or at least to provide an alternative to the default method. Unfortunately, the name is a little deceiving, because there’s no function to schedule shutdown operations, so everything is manually triggered.

The application can handle three things, namely to lock, shut down, and restart your computer. Functions are depicted as intuitive icons in the slim interface, and are triggered at the press of a button, so be sure to save your work to prevent loss of data.

Unfortunately, the application doesn’t cut a lot of time when it comes to shutting down your computer, since you still need to wait for the program to launch, and then select a function. However, a neat trick is to assign a hotkey command to the program’s shortcut to have it launched from any Explorer location.

All things considered, we can state that Auto Shutdown doesn’t really manage to bring a lot of comfort when it comes to your computer’s power operations. It’s only capable of performing a few tricks, and the lack of a built-in scheduler is rather disappointing given its name.
