Try something a little more entertaining in this case.

Vista Sidebar is a sidebar placed on your desktop, and besides the fact that is looks very cool, it has a few fun but also practical features.

We have tested it on Windows 7 x64, and it worked perfectly.

For starters, the sidebar itself comes with a few different skins. You can open them by pressing the small "+" sign in the top of the sidebar, or use the arrows that will instantly guide you through them.

Basically, you can display clocks (with 12 designs to choose from), and gadgets.

Gadgets include displaying sticky notes, calendar, hard disk, run, media player, POP3 mail, picture slider, system uptime, RSS, internet traffic (incoming and outgoing), search toolbar, torrent search toolbar, weather, CPU and RAM usage, calculator, battery information, WiFi, and a Softonic search bar.

Sticky notes have a small window, and you can only write in three pages. The text format is not "word wrap", so if you write longer text, then browsing it becomes an issue.

The hard disk gadget shows used capacity of your hard drive, while POP3 mail shows new mails if you have a POP3, IMAP or Gmail account (but doesn't direct you to it).

The search tool toolbar displays a limited number of search engines that you can look into, and the same principle applies for the torrent search.

The run and calculator gadgets are the same as in Windows.

All in all, Vista Sidebar is a fun software to have displayed so that desktop doesn't feel lonely, but the gadgets themselves are very limited.
