WinAPI Search

WinAPI Search is a lightweight tool purposely designed for developers, researchers and people that deal with malware reverse engineering. Its initial role is to provide a search option for Win32 functions, but it grew to include several more features.

The UI is split in two equal parts; the upper part covers the search location and input fields, while the lower half lists all found results. Also, on the bottom, you can find the “Search Output” panel, which displays the exact procedure and the processed locations.

As a small note, the tool requires no installation in order to be operated; just extract and run it. This is a handy feature for users that need to cover multiple systems, as it can be uploaded to any removable drive and run from any location on the disk.

As PE binary files create the base structure for Windows based apps, WinAPI Search allows you to search for this type of files one by one or multiple at once. Regular expressions (Regexp) are also supported and can be searched by this tool.

The PE files can be searched for by taking advantage of the following features/filters: Bitness (both x32 and x64 supported) import/export tables, API-sets or umbrella libraries, search by PE header subsystem/characteristics/directories compilation timestamps and more.

If you used Dependency Walker, you are surely looking for a good alternative as it DW was discontinued. WinAPI Search can be seen as a replacement due to its similar functions and capabilities.
