A practical and effective application whose main purpose is to help you protect all the computers connected to a UPS device and monitor the battery level for each device

editor's review

Network Management Proxy is a practical and effective piece of software that comes in handy especially for users who need to monitor and control all the UPS devices connected to the network, carry out automatic shutdown operations and manage all the communications with the UPS.

The main window of the application displays all of the available information about the current UPS such as the name and the image of the connected device, status information (communication status, power source, battery charge indication) and battery information (remaining backup time and battery level).

In case you want to view the UPS events in both graphic and text form, you can access the ‘UPS history’ option from the system tray menu. Since the information is displayed in the XML format, you can easily export it to a TXT, CSV or HTML file. You can use the drop-down list in order to choose the desired type of display (i.e. Standard or Extended graphic, Events list or Full list), as well as right-click a point on the graph to view the legend.

By accessing the Settings window you are able to configure the shutdown actions the way you want. There are three criteria that can determine when the shutdown procedure is launched namely ‘Shutdown timer’, ‘Battery level to trigger system shutdown’ and ‘Remaining backup time to trigger system shutdown’. This way, Network Management Proxy monitors the UPS data and when the remaining time reaches the set-point, it will shutdown the device in a secure way.

The ‘Schedule operation’ tab enables you to easily schedule system on / off sequences via the UPS device so you can easily shutdown the computer or the server at a predefined moment in time.

In closing, Network Management Proxy comes in handy for users who need to periodically access the information concerning the connected UPS device, monitor its usage and battery level, as well as schedule shutdown actions.
