Monitor and download Flash videos from Flash websites when using Internet Explorer, and optionally convert the clips to other filetypes. #Grab Flash #Save Flash #Flash monitor #Capture #Grabber #Saver
Although Flash websites are hardly used by anyone now (some web browsers like Chrome have Flash disabled by default), there are still domains where you can find such clips.
Designed for Internet Explorer users, FlashCapture is an addon that autodetects Flash videos and downloads them to your PC. Besides preserving the original filetype, it can convert clips to AVI, MP4 or MPEG2.
Before proceeding any further, you should know that the tool is officially discontinued, which means that it will not receive any further updates. It also cannot be purchased anymore but you can download the last released version from this Softpedia page and use the 7-day trial or unlock the full version if you happen to have a code.
Curiously enough, FlashCapture worked with the Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 10 in our tests, although the browser popped up some errors on occasion and crashed right afterward. Once you integrate the plugin into IE and turn it on, you can visit a site with Flash and bring up the main FlashCapture window.
Three tabs can be accessed for viewing and downloading Flashes in the current page as well as cached Flashes and other videos. It has a video previewing player but it didn't work in our tests. To download a clip, you just have to indicate the saving directory and filename. For conversion, you can choose from AVI, MP4 and MPEG2, as previously mentioned.
As far as plugin settings are concerned, you can enable flickering on the window frame, hide the floating toolbar or change the default autohide delay, hide reminders for pages with transparent Flash, hide the floating toolbar or flicker effect, as well as disable the autosave of FLV and cached video if you want to save disk space. The current cache can be emptied with one click.
