Digital Clock is a widget developed for the Yahoo! Widget Engine that shows you the current time on your desktop. It can be easily installed and configured even by less experienced users.
The app comes with a small and user-friendly interface which displays digital time in the 12-hour clock mode, along with the current day.
The clock's theme is 'Red Glow' but it can be changed from the 'Widget Preferences' area to 'Tan LCD', 'Green Glow' or 'Blue Glow'.
In addition, you can make the clock chime every hour, half an hour or fifteen minutes, as well as switch to the 24-hour time mode.
With the help of the default settings provided by the Yahoo! Widget Engine, you can also make the frame stay on top or below all the other windows, move it to any spot on the screen, to ignore mouse events and to prevent dragging. Last but not least, you can customize its opacity level between 20% and 100%.
The lightweight application requires a very low amount of CPU and system memory, so it shouldn't put a strain on the computer's resources. It has a good response time and didn't cause the operating system to freeze, crash or pop up error dialogs during our tests.
To sum it up, Digital Clock is a nice alternative to Windows' default clock. Unfortunately, the Yahoo! Widget Engine project has been discontinued, so Digital Clock shall not receive further updates.
