Developed for the Yahoo! Widget Engine platform, UTC Clock is a lightweight widget which shows time on your desktop without interrupting your day-to-day computer activities. It is easy to install and configure.
The app's interface consists of a small frame where time is displayed in the 24-hour format - hours, minutes and seconds.
By default, text is written in white while the background has a black color. These options can be modified by accessing the 'Widget Preferences' area in the right-click menu.
Besides changing the text and background color, you can also alter the text font family, increase the size of the frame, as well as adjust the background opacity level.
Thanks to the default options provided by the Yahoo! Widget Engine, you can set UTC Clock to stay on top or below all the other windows, to ignore mouse events and to prevent dragging. Plus, you can adjust the frame's opacity level between 20% and 100%.
The simplistic tool puts little strain on the computer's resources, as it uses a low amount of CPU and system memory. It is very responsive to commands and didn't freeze, crash or pop up error dialogs during our tests.
However, the clock time is not synchronized with the system time, and there is no option to do so (time starts at 9 a.m.). Since the Yahoo! Widget Engine has been discontinued, UTC Clock has not received further updates, so we must take this fact into consideration.
