APE (acronym for Monkey's Audio Lossless) is a file format used for audio lossless compression. It features error detection and support for tags for storing details about the audio tracks.
APE format does not lose any data while encoding audio, as opposed to AAC or MP3 formats which use lossy compression.
APE is a free format, therefore it can be easily integrated within third-party applications, therefore APE files can be accessed by most audio players available on the market.
Furthermore, all APE players will offer users the possibility to create playlists and to add their favorite songs, without being restricted to selecting only APE tracks.
