Originally created by Winamp, M3U format deals with files that store multimedia playlists and is now supported by all major audio players.
M3U files are similar to plain text files and they contain the location of several multimedia files that should be played. The location can be absolute or relative.
M3U players will automatically load these locations and will play the tracks that are referenced. If a path is invalid, the corresponding file will not be played.
M3U players will also offer users the possibility to export their playlists to other formats.
