  • The clients for BrowseControl and BrowseReporter have also been combined into one common client, offering improved deployment through Active Directory, 3rd party deployment tools or through remote installation from the CurrentWare Console.
  • Terminal Server Compatibility:
  • BrowseControl and BrowseReporter now support a Terminal Server environment. Internet access or web monitoring of thin clients can be administered by installing the new CurrentWare Server/Console and the CurrentWare Client on the Terminal Server.
  • Enhanced Scheduler:
  • While Internet access is restricted to company authorized sites during work hours, you may want to allow users access to personal sites during non-work hours (e.g. at lunch time). Through the Scheduler assign times when users are allowed access to non-work related sites. These sites are pre-selected by the administrator/manager.
  • a) Internet ON – users/PCs are allowed full access to the Internet, except for those sites listed under the Blocked List.
  • b) Custom Allowed List – Internet access is restricted to those sites listed under the “Custom Allowed List” during the scheduled time(s). Sites under the original Allowed List (URL Filter) are accessible at all times.
  • c) Custom Blocked List – Internet access to sites listed under the “Custom Blocked List” are blocked during the scheduled times. The Custom Blocked List supersedes the original “Blocked List” during the scheduled times.

  • BrowseControl is now able to function in two modes, Computer Based and User Based. User mode allows control over each user on the network. All the functionalities and settings that are available for the Computer based mode are also applicable in the user based mode.
  • Import Users
  • Active Directory users can be imported to the BrowseControl Console making it easier to organize users in the user based mode of BrowseControl.
  • Port Filtering Options
  • Filtering options can be modified to block unwanted downloads of files over the internet, avoid filtering of images or allow blocking of ports only during the Internet OFF mode.
  • Remote Installation of Clients
  • BrowseControl Clients can now be installed remotely from the Console on any system available on the LAN.
  • Redirect Clients
  • The "Redirect Clients" feature of BrowseControl will allow you to resolve any incorrect entries of the Server IP address on the Client remotely from the Console. In addition, through this utility, the clients can also be redirected to an alternate server, should the server component be moved to a different system.
