New in Church Secretary 2.0.1.0 (Sep 20, 2010)
- CSW 2010 does not feature logins or the "skins" included in the prior version.
- I have removed a few fields but added user defined fields to both the Family and Members tables. While it is not possible to rename the field on the screens you can customize the field labels for reports created using the Report Wizard and the Report Builder. A change to the Report Builder is an additional option (button) to export the report to an RTF (Rich Text Format) file which you can then save for emailing or open the file in Microsoft Word of other word processing program to customize. This is in addition to the .PDF file export that has been available for several versions.
- I have also added to the export option available on many browse (grid) style screens. In previous versions, clicking the Export button would create a spreadsheet file and open it in Microsoft Excel or similar program. In CSW 2010 you have a popup choice when you click the Export button to export as an either an .xls or .rtf file. Again, this will be a plus for those that want to save the data in a word processing format.
- CSW 2010 provides new options to allow for easily and quickly creating Chart (graph) style reports of Attendance and Contribution data.
- Import utility has been updated to allow importing from Microsoft Access 2007 and Microsoft Excel 2007.
- View Wizard has been added to many browse screens. This allows users to easily change the fields displayed in a browse, screen, the order of the columns and the sort order and also to rename column headings. I have added a locator box to many browse screens. This feature will allow you to type in a value, such as part of a name or a date and the cursor will move to the first matching record.
- I have added a Spreadsheet Wizard to allow you to create reusable spreadsheet format. Some may find this more useful than clicking the export button to create a .rtf or .xls file and may be preferable to the standard reports.
- I have updated the help file to .chm format for those of you running the program on Microsoft Vista or Windows 7. I have also included additional help files for the Query, Report, Spreadsheet and View Wizard on the Start Menu during installation .
