New in OmniPeek 7.5 (Jun 10, 2013)

  • Enhanced 802.11ac Analysis:
  • 802.11ac is the very latest technology to be introduced as part of the 802.11 family of specifications. 802.11ac significantly increases WLAN performance, the first true gigabit wireless solution, all while reducing the overall power required to operate portable wireless devices. This will make 802.11ac the new de facto standard for WLANs, driving rapid adoption by both consumers and enterprises.
  • OmniPeek v7.5 is the first and only commercially available WLAN analyzer that can analyze 802.11ac traffic, enabling effective delivery of products from vendors and successful deployments by customers. With OmniPeek v7.5 WLAN troubleshooting is done quickly and efficiently with its intuitive UI, maintaining the highest level of quality of experience (QoE) that users expect from the latest WLAN technology.
  • Wireless Captures from APs:
  • As wireless networking breaks the gigabit barrier with 802.11ac, traditional WLAN analysis techniques based on data captures from externally-connected USB adapters become obsolete. High-speed WLAN devices are needed to capture these new WLAN speeds, and what better way than to leverage the existing infrastructure by using APs that are capable of delivering these new 802.11ac speeds. Existing remote AP capture adapters, like those for Cisco APs, have been updated for 802.11ac in OmniPeek v7.5, and support for Remote PCAP has been added. Remote PCAP is a technology built into most APs that allows them to become data capture devices with no need to modify either the AP or OmniPeek. This capability significantly expands the choices you have for capturing wireless data for analysis.
  • Enhanced Wireless Roaming and Aggregation Features:
  • Faster wireless networks will drive new use cases, and the increased use of portable devices on these network means users will be more mobile than ever. Roaming, or transitions from one AP to another as users move around, becomes a critical performance metric when evaluating the overall user experience. OmniPeek v7.5 includes an enhanced roaming analysis module that provides more data than ever before, making roaming analysis just another metric that can be easily assessed when performing WLAN analysis.
  • Interactive Channels and WLAN Views in Compass:
  • Compass is the ideal OmniPeek dashboard to determine what is happening on your network before doing more detailed network analysis. This highly interactive dashboard allows you to quickly choose exactly which data you want to see, and to instantly correlate data to look for trends or anomalies. OmniPeek v7.5 adds new views to the Compass dashboard, including a channels view and a WLAN view that significantly enhance the use of Compass for WLAN analysis.
  • Improved Capture-to-Disk Performance:
  • Capture-to-disk is a feature in Omnipliance Network Recorders that allows all packets to be stored on disk for forensic, or post-capture analysis. By writing packets to disk and only doing analysis afterwards, Omnipliance can process network data at much higher rates. With OmniPeek v7.5, Omnipliance capture-to-disk performance now exceeds 7Gbps, making it an excellent choice for analysis of just about any network segment in your infrastructure.
