CloudShot

CloudShot is a free software application that enables you to capture the screen in several methods and save the pictures to a local folder or upload them to a Dropbox account. It features very intuitive options that can be figured out by all types of users, regardless of their level of experience.

Installing the tool takes minimal time and effort. At startup, it creates an icon in the system tray area. It is possible to capture the full screen, selected window or any region by drawing a rectangle, and save them to either a local directory or via Dropbox; these two options can be easily toggled from the tray icon's right-click menu.

The hotkey for capturing the screen may be changed into anything else, while CloudShot can be asked to copy the image or its path to the Clipboard, open it in the default photo viewer after capturing it, as well as to automatically run at Windows startup until further notice.

Users may change the default local directory and Dropbox account, select the image format between PNG, JPG, JPEG and animated GIF, get direct links and shorten URLs (for Dropbox), hide notifications after taking the shot and disable sound, as well as specify a hotkey for recording video and either include or exclude the mouse cursor (saves footage to animated GIF).

CloudShot has minimal impact on PC performance, running on low CPU and RAM. We have not come across any issues throughout our evaluation, since it did not hang, crash or pop up error messages. The tool delivers a simple method to capturing the screen and saving it to multiple image formats, and it can be handled by all types of users.
