Coccinella

Coccinella is an IM application that strongly encourages collaboration amongst teams, regardless of the location of the members. It is an open-source and cross-platform program that organizations of any size can benefit from.

Coccinella is not a regular instant messenger; despite the fact that it preserves the most important features of an IM utility, it brings far more than most similar products. The whole idea behind it is to provide teams with a friendly environment where they can share ideas dynamically with the aid of a whiteboard.

On top of this, features such as voice support, file sharing and possibilities to communicate in private chat rooms are brought inside an intuitive and easy to understand interface.

Unlike similar products that use a subscription-based approach, Coccinella targets users with existing accounts, who only have to provide the server, the username and password and log in with the least of efforts.

Contacts are displayed in two lists: Offline and Online, depending on their current status and the conversations are carried out inside simple windows, where inserting emoticons is possible.

The Whiteboard feature makes it possible to draw and / or import images and movies that all the members of the team have access to. Also in this section you can write math formulas and elaborate on diagrams.

Files can be sent in real time, while communicating with voice is also made available. You can use a hands-free approach inside the IM while working on some other project.

Coccinella comes across as a multi-featured IM software that not only allows for uninterrupted chat sessions, but also delivers the necessary tools for team collaboration.
