The Internet has become part of our daily lives and is used to fuel most services we use, it literally holds everything. Web browsers make sure we can easily access pages of interest and have a blast on entertainment sites. For a more professional approach on navigation and file management, applications like FilePanther give you the possibility to grab content without using a web browser.

Design poses no accommodation problems whatsoever, with the main window split into a navigation panel for websites you target, as well as a list where all detected files are displayed with related info like size, type, name and location. Tools are triggered by pressing intuitive icons that are conveniently placed in the upper toolbar or context menu entries.

The application lets you fully organize categories and even comes with a few presets like free time entertainment and study. You can only see them if you add websites, with no actual manager for better organizing. This isn't really an issue since they take up less space this way and make the whole process more comfortable.

You can target any URL and the application snoops through its content while filling up the list in real time. There's also the possibility to set how deep to search in layers from the settings menu. What's missing though, is an option to make the application look for more file formats, because you'll find that it doesn't do a pretty good job by default.

On the other hand, it greatly comes in handy for downloading images, because these are instantly retrieved. With the help of an integrated viewer you can even take a look before grabbing them from the source. Effort is reduced to a minimum with the option to set a default destination folder.

A few extra goodies can be found and managed through a dedicated menu entry. This is also the place to find the image viewer, which gives you the possibility to export to JPG. You can explore more options such as a download manager, trigger a scan on all websites in the list or clear cache for better functionality.

All things considered, we can safely state that FilePanther leaves a little more to be desired overall. Although simple and highly-intuitive in design, with context menus and clever display of files and websites, you're probably better off looking for other methods to grab data, with a strong emphasis on images being the application's peak.
