Light Alloy Portable

The portable edition of Light Alloy offers no extra features than the installer version, with the only difference being that it enables users to bypass the installation procedure.

Light Alloy is a comprehensive utility which brings forth tools for viewing video files. It supports a wide range of audio and video items, including AVI, MKV, 3GP, ASF, OGG and MP3, in addition to a familiar environment, mainly suitable for experienced users.

Thanks to its portability, you can save the program files to any directory on the HDD and run the executable immediately. It is also possible to move Light Alloy to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any computer effortlessly.

An important factor to take into account is that the Windows Registry does not get updated with new entries, and leftover files do not remain on the hard disk after removing the tool.

The interface of Light Alloy has a modern appearance and straightforward layout, with support for standard media controls (e.g. volume adjustment, full screen mode) and advanced functions, which enable power users to change the aspect ratio, adjust the color levels, apply image filters (e.g. emboss, grayscale, invert) and flip the picture, among others.

As far as the sound stream goes, you can configure an equalizer and load additional sound. It is possible to take snapshots, view extended file information, check out a tree of filters, schedule an action (e.g. shutdown computer, turn off display, exit program), create a playlist and set bookmarks, among others.

Light Alloy comprises many configurable options which focus on the interface (language, skin, appearance, tray, popup menus), mouse button shortcuts, playlist colors, events (e.g. program startup), file associations, and keyboard shortcuts, among many more.

The application uses a high quantity of CPU and RAM, has a good response time and works well. We have not encountered any issues throughout our evaluation, since the tool did not hang or crash. Thanks to its advanced features, yet friendly interface, Light Alloy should be appealing to advanced users.
