| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | I am not, admittedly, a "computer person." But I bought a new Dell laptop with stupid microsoft vista, which crashes at least 3 times a day for the 5 months I have owned it. Perhaps this is not primarily a problem with Adobe Reader, but I have to keep downloading it every 2-3 days beacause it causes my computer to crash, and then when it won't start up again and I have to do a "safety mode" start, it removes Adobe Reader and I have to start all over again.
I use pdf files constantly and I am really considering the gratification of throwing my laptop out a window and stomping on it, a lot of which frustration I feel is caused by this new Adobe Reader which I can never get to stick because if it is installed, my computer crashes and cannot restart. Bah! |

During the setup I get a message saying that an older version of Adove Reader 8.1.1. cannot be removed. I tried to download this from Adobe yesterday - Was not successful due to network interruptions. How do I install this program? |

| Adobe Reader 8.0.0 Final |
| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | Considering it is a Free Download, Adobe have done very well.
What I partucarly liked was the fact that as it installed it removed the previous version I had.
After correcting the wonky ActiveX entries with Norton WinDoctor, I took it for a brief 'test drive'.
It's loading of PDFs at the site I visit alot was a lot easier than v7.08
I am well pleased with this version. |

| Adobe Reader 7.0.1 |
| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | The standard in viewing PDF files...
But its horribly slow...and you wont realize this until you try out a freeware application called Foxit PDF Viewer:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Office-tools/PDF/Foxit-PDF-Reader.shtml
Foxit has the same features as Adobe (and the same lack of support for FireFox...woohaa), but its MUCH faster and much lighter on resources.
4/5 on value and overall because of the existence of Foxit PDF. |
