The world being comprised of a multiple of nations has its advantages but also a lot disadvantages. One of the most important facts is that we do not use the same time measuring system, the same temperature system, not even the metric system. So, something had to be done so that someone from a foreign country knew how to convert euros into dollars, and so on.

To help people with this problem, many converters have been developed since the appearance of computers. For such a piece if software to be complete, it would have to convert almost… anything. But a lot of applications of this type fail because they lack diversity. JConvert does exactly what you want, when you want - it converts among more than a dozen conversion systems.

The Looks Being made in the Java programming language, the interface isn’t very impressive, but does its job pretty well. You want to convert something, not see a perfect interface, isn’t it? When opening JConvert, you observe that the program has only two tabs available, the File and the Help Tab. Under them, you can see that there are a lot of tabs available, representing the main conversion units of the program.

The Works JConvert is not a big program, having only 200 Kb in size, and it doesn’t even need an installation in order for it to be used. You only have to double click this icon and you can use it, it’s this easy. Upon entering, you may choose from the 22 categories of conversion. You can convert between acceleration units. Also, some complex converting is available between some units you mainly use in physics.

For example, you can convert light-related units, like flames, foot-candles, and lux. Also, you can convert power-related units. It is very useful if you want to see how much you consumed in a month. JConvert’s utility doesn’t stop here.

You can convert acceleration units, distance units, concentration units, and even computer units. Thus, you will know exactly how much kilobytes are contained in a gigabyte without having to calculate that by yourself. You are also able to convert various units, like concentration, angle, or amt of substance. JConvert can also be used by mobile phones if you want to have a mobile converting program always at your disposal.

JConvert can convert various units belonging to these domains: acceleration, amt of substance, angle, area, computer, concentration, density, distance, energy, flow, force, light, mass, power, pressure, temperature, time, torque, velocity, volume, volume dry and currency. For instance, it is extremely easy to find out how much seconds there are in a century or to convert a yen into euros.

JConvert is not about a great interface, nice graphics or audio, it’s all about utility and usefulness. JConvert helps you convert between any of the supported formats at any time you want, and is lightweight, meaning that you can store it on any portable device you want.

The Good JConvert is free, easy to use, very practical, intuitive and useful. It can convert between a lot of formats and it's under 200 kilobytes, which means you can put it on your flash card or any portable device and use it at any time you wish.

The Bad If there is a bad thing about JConvert, this would be the interface. It’s not too well organized and could have used some spacing. The Truth JConvert is small, easy to use, and does exactly what it’s meant to. It converts between anything you want in a fast manner. It’s also a free program, released under the GPL license. You can use it free of charge anywhere, at any time, and do the converting you need fast and free.
