AI RoboForm browser integration

How would you like never to enter usernames and passwords again? Just to click on a button and both fields to be filled automatically? Sounds too good to be true? Wouldn't it be great not having to remember all sort of web IDs and passwords you forget the minute you type them? I know there are password managers for that, but even using such a comfortable solution, sometimes you still use a lot of time.

And here comes the good news: you can type in usernames and passwords with a single click of your mouse. AI RoboForm takes care of all your sensitive information and securely stores it for later. It is a very fast way to enter your account information in the appropriate fields, and you do not even have to remember it as everything is done automatically.

The interface? There is no such thing as AI RoboForm perfectly integrates in Internet Explorer's toolbar as well as in Firefox or Maxthon. As the application is not available for Linux or MAC, I guess these two web engines will suffice and cover the needs of many of you. I could not find anywhere if there is support for Vista, but I proceeded to testing the application and, surprise or not, it worked.

Besides the toolbar created in the aforementioned web browsers, there is also a small icon in system tray that offers you all the tools and options necessary to configure the application: identities manager, safenotes, profiles, editing tools (identities, passcards and safenotes) as well as logins.

Equipped with a search tool, AI RoboForm lets the user look up information in the most appreciated search engines available: Google, Yahoo, MSN and Ask. In order to add some more search engines in the list, you should go in the Options menu and click Get More SearchCards. You will be automatically directed to RoboForm's search card download center and download the ones you need. The variety of options includes areas like Financial, Travel, Shopping, News, Weather, Internet, Multimedia, etc. For each search engine, you can assign a shortcut key for faster searches.

But let's get back to the integration in the web browser. The first option made available by RoboForm is called RoboForm. It contains exactly the same options as the context menu in system tray. Logins tab is where you get to store the login data. It is enough to open the page that comes with the account fields, fill them and click on Login and choose New option. The data is automatically stored and whenever you access the website again and are asked for the login data, it will be automatically filled. Additionally, if you want to log to your email and are too "tired" to type in the URL, go to Login and choose the desired account. The page will open and fields will be completed automatically.

Identity
Editor can function very well as an address book. It allows creating folders/groups and adding as many contacts as you want, including your own. The fields available range from details about the person (name, job title, phone, email, instant messenger ID/No.) to business (company, department, website, etc.) and address (country, post code and city). For each identity you can create a personal note.

Your own ID will contain far more areas to cover as sensitive data like bank account number and credit card information can be filled in. This definitely makes you think about the protection offered by AI RoboForm as this kind of data is never safe enough. The encryption algorithms available for passcards (online passwords), identities and even safenotes include DES, AES, 3DES, Blowfish and RC6. No need to worry, during our testing, the software attempted no contact with servers on the web. Even so, I wouldn't recommend putting all your trust in this kind of softwares as there is nothing sure with spyware and other kind of fraud malware.

Options menu can be accessed both from system tray context menu and the little robot face in the toolbar. It includes additional options necessary for both your protection and easiness in work. You can set the maximum number of identities to be shown, set the toolbar position, button style, autofill options (HTML forms, Windows dialogs in browsers, auto-fill without asking), logins saving, backup the user's data, import/export user information, select the security algorithm and the types of files to be secured, set a master password to protect the files or set the keyboard shortcuts.

All in all, I was not expecting such standards from AI RoboForm. It performed beautifully and at the beginning, I was reluctant to its capabilities. In the end, it proved to be an efficient auto-fill tool. The effort for providing security for the stored information is also admirable.

The Good

Easy to use, reliable and efficient. I think this says it all about RoboForm. It even has an address book and once integrated in the browser's toolbar, it can be visible or not. The password manager allows you to create a password of up to 511 characters (alphanumeric and special characters).

Closing the system tray icon will not result in closing the entire application.

If you are not using the application in a profit-making environment, you can use it for free beyond the 30 day trial period.

The Bad

Adding this utility to browsers in Linux and MAC will definitely act as a propeller.

The price is a bit of a baddie here, but considering the options and that only profit making organizations have to pay, I think we can show a little leniency.

The Truth

I hate that I cannot use it at work, but I am definitely going to let it run with Maxthon at home.

Here are some snapshots of the application in action:
