Emailing is an essential activity of our lives and everybody relies on receiving and sending information the quickest way possible. The messaging is almost in real time so the importance of email keeps on growing. Additionally, the softwares that are retrieving the messages from the servers have also become of great value nowadays. A simple icon in the system tray will show you the number of messages in your inbox and every time a new email is received, you get either visual or audio notifications.

The world of email clients is continuously growing and developers are offering the applications for free. Users worldwide only need to search and find the suitable MUA (Mail User Agent). Emailaya is a great solution for all the mail retrieval from different accounts. The application works on low resources and can easily be configured by a novice.

It is free, for now, and the developer, Amos, will only accept donations from you in order to keep improving the program. Starting with the future version, the users will have to pay a fee in order to create new accounts.

The interface of the application is great and all the available options are in plain view. The first thing to do after launching the executable is creating your account. The user can create more than one account and the messages will be received in separate folders. This way, the sorting is done automatically. Although one cannot tell from the beginning, the content of the message is displayed in a window below. The only thing is that you will have to read it first in the Viewing Letter window (double click on the subject).

One great feature is chatting. The software allows instant chatting between two users based on their e-mail address. The option works fine as long as both users are using Emailaya and are available for chat (click on Preferences button and enable Available for Chat). You must realize that this is not a regular chatting machine and the window may seem a little primitive. If the one at the other end of the chat is not available, you can send him/her a notifying e-mail.

Another great feature is the support for RSS feeds inside the program. You can add as many RSS feeds you want. The feeds can be opened in the default browser and the accounts can be switched very easily thanks to the integrated tabbed RSS navigation. Once again, we are talking about an email client that is equipped with all these features. The display of the feeds is as simple as possible, but you will get all the available headlines.

I noticed one interesting option when testing Emailaya: you can redirect the received messages to another mail server. With a simple click, you can divert the message to another address.

Using Emailaya, the user can upload files on the mail server, just like GMail Drive. You can upload a folder or a file. Uploading a folder will result in packing up the files inside into one ZIP archive.

Preferences button will help the user configure the application and customize it to their own needs. Thus, you can choose by yourself the Forward and Reply prefix, the default font and size for composing an email, the spam marking color, set the notifications, show the application either in taskbar or in system tray, etc.

Cross-account settings let you configure the settings for each of the available accounts. The options in here allow the user to select the sound to play when a new mail is received or the mail checking every user defined amount of time.

When it comes to composing an email, forget about the regular options most email clients have to offer. The users of Emailaya can record an audio message and send it. All there is needed is a microphone. Once activated, the little microphone in the right side of the Composing Letter window will turn red and start recording. As soon as you stop the recording you will notice that a file has been added in the attachments window.

Recording sound is not all. The users can also use Emailaya to send video recordings via email. For this, you need a camera. The application will automatically detect if you have a camera on your computer and will start recording.

If you decide to send more than one file, for a faster sending, you can use the automatic archiving function available and will create one zip containing all the files. When it comes to writing the message, you can customize it by adding a special background or insert a picture, a flash file, a sound or a video clip.

The Good

The software will not install on your computer and double clicking the executable will launch it. An icon will stay in the system tray displaying the number of messages in your email box. Emalaya is equipped with notification options that include playing a user defined sound.

The Bad

For the message to be displayed when clicking on the subject, you will have to read the message first in the Viewing Letter window.

A downside of the application is that for the future version, you will have to pay if you want more than one account.

The Truth

Emailaya is a great application equipped with unusual, nonetheless useful features. It can do a lot of tricks and I am sure that you will be impressed by the available options.

Here are some snapshots of the application in action:
