Whether or not Bing is your go-to search engine, it doesn't matter. What sets it apart from other search engines is that it has an attractive picture in the background, which gets changed daily. If you're interested in using its image of the day as your desktop wallpaper, you can use BingSnap, a Windows tool that spares you the trouble of looking for this photo every single day, thanks to the fact that it makes the switch automatically.
The application is capable of detecting the image of the day from multiple Bing locations, giving you the possibility to select the preferred region. It runs in the systray and can save favorite pictures to the computer if you want to add them to your collection.
Following a speedy and uncomplicated setup operation, BingSnap creates an icon in the taskbar notifications area and changes your current desktop background immediately. If you move the mouse over the tray icon, you can find out the name of the photo.
By heading to the options panel, you can pick a different Bing region, ask the app to show a balloon with the wallpaper info, select another style for the tray icon, as well as change the default folder for saving all downloaded images to.
There is no option implemented for restoring the desktop wallpaper to default, the one used before launching BingSnap. This doesn't happen even after exiting the application. If you want your old wallpaper back, you have to manually change settings within Windows.
The app worked smoothly in our tests and remained light on system resources usage throughout its runtime. All aspects considered, BingSnap offers a simple and straightforward solution for users who want to use the Bing image of the day as their desktop background.
