New in ASUS GPU Tweak III 1.4.2.0 (Apr 7, 2022)

  • Interface Changes:
  • Left-side tabs on the main screen, such as Home and Monitor, are now represented by icons instead of text. This makes the main screen look cleaner and allows for more consistent design for future improvements.
  • On the right side of the screen, the space has been widened. This is also to prepare for upcoming changes.
  • In the Settings screens, a number of minor adjustments have been made, with the most predominant being to the ordering of the OSD hotkeys in the Hotkeys tab.
  • New error handling has been added to the interface elements to prevent the UI from being hidden while the software is started or maximized.
  • Improvements:
  • The options for Monitoring and log recording have been increased. The new options allow the user to choose among the following sets of minutes to save for logs: 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 60, and 120.
  • Updated motherboard sensor drivers to improve security.
  • Updated GPU-Z libraries to improve accuracy of information.
  • Updated Vendor libraries. While this improves support of newer graphics cards, this also fixes some issues with graphics card lighting.
  • Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed an issue when adjusting the Memory Clock where it could return to prevoius values after applying. This particularly affected Nvidia 10-series GPUs.
  • When multiple AMD graphics cards of different generations were installed, some issues could previously occur regarding code import. Support for multiple different AMD cards has been improved.
  • Specifically, ROG Strix RX570 cards had an issue with receiving and setting data. Exception handling has been improved for cards with those chipsets.
  • Fixed behavioral issues with the Profile Connect screen when accessed from the OSD settings screen.

New in ASUS GPU Tweak III 1.3.7.3 (Dec 24, 2021)

  • In addition to the keyboard Voltage-Frequency Tuner controls introduced in v.1.3.1.1, this build adds a toolbox to the VF Tuner interface. It is designed to act similarly to graphic design programs. It has the following functions:
  • Points can be moved by clicking the up or down arrows, or by typing in an offset value.
  • Two buttons can be used to align all points to either the top or bottom of the curve, and then a specific value can be typed into the box.
  • Rotation of the selected points can be performed by two of the buttons as well.
  • Buttons for Undo, Redo, and toggling to Lock voltage and frequency are also in the toolbox.

New in ASUS GPU Tweak III 1.3.5.7 (Nov 17, 2021)

  • Platform Support:
  • This version has been verified and optimized for use on both Windows 10 and Windows 11.
  • Profile Changes:
  • User profiles were not saving separate VF curvesThis was unintended behavior caused by having backend curves that can be selected by the four options at the bottom of the VF Tuner windowNow each profile can properly save its own VF curve.
  • Fan curves similarly were not being saved separately between profilesThis was originally intended behavior, but now has been modified to match the VF Tuner changesNow each profile can have a separate set of fan curves
  • After reworking the profile curves, the "Apply" and "Save" behavior was modified to ensure that each portion was being applied correctly, and when changes are made, they are being saved to only the profile selected.
  • Quality of Life Improvements:
  • When a graphics card with external fan headers is installed, GPU Tweak III automatically detects the headers and the External Fan settings are enabled
  • The VF Tuner now includes "Apply", "Save", and "Save As" buttons directly inside its window.
  • When using "Auto" fan control with an AMD card, the fan behavior is now based on the Radeon driver.
  • Optimizations have been made to screen loading, so the UI may feel snappier and more responsive.
  • Feature Fixes:
  • When the Frame Rate Target is changed to a value, and then returned to 0, now GPU Tweak III will properly reset the value to unlimited.
  • In the "Import Profile" screen, the "Browse" button now properly opens the tuning profile folder by default
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the OC Scanner to fail if the scanning process took too long.
  • When a graphics card with two fan controls has identical fan curves set, the fan RPM behavior could be different.
  • If a custom fan curve was set, it could incorrectly switch back to Auto on restart.
  • Fixed an issue with some Nvidia GeForce RTX 30-series cards that could prevent them from setting custom fan curves.
  • Fixed multiple issues with the Profile Engine that could cause instability or poor performance.
  • Some Call of Duty games could cause GPU Tweak III to crash, so they have been added to the OSD blacklist.
  • Display Fixes:
  • If both an AMD and an Nvidia card were installed, GPU Tweak III would sometimes display the wrong graphics card info
  • After setting both a manual VF Tuner setting and a memory clock setting and then applying, GPU Tweak III could show an incorrect memory clock number.
  • Some integrated graphics cards were displaying incorrectly in GPU-Z
  • When External Fans were enabled, the "Others" section of the Home screen could display incorrectly
  • In the OSD settings, using the Position function could slow down other interactions if the Info panel was moved multiple times in short succession
  • The link between the main screen and the Monitor could detach under some circumstances, including when changing displays.
  • After running the OC Scanner, the Memory Clock Offset could display an incorrect value.

New in ASUS GPU Tweak II 2.3.8.0 (Nov 4, 2021)

New in ASUS GPU Tweak III 1.3.1.1 (Sep 24, 2021)

  • Users can select multiple points by clicking and dragging to form a box. All points selected this way can be moved together by using keyboard or mouse controls.
  • Pressing the W or S key can raise or lower the clock frequency of all selected points by 1 MHz respectively. Holding Ctrl when pressing W or S changes the frequency by 10 MHz per press. Alternatively, the up and down arrows can be used the same way.
  • When multiple points are selected, pressing the A or D key can align all selected points to the topmost or bottomost point respectively. The left or right arrow keys can also perform the same function.
  • Holding Shift while pressing A or D instead rotates the curve of all selected points, using the leftmost point as its axis. Shift + A rotates counterclockwise, while Shift + D rotates clockwise. As above, holding Shift while pressing the left or right arrow keys also works.
  • When a single point is selected, press L or T to lock the GPU to that frequency and voltage. This is useful for testing the frequency and voltage for stability, before applying a curve. Press L or T again to unlock the voltage.
  • Additionally, while a single point is selected, press the Tab button to move one point to the right, or Shift + Tab to move one point to the left.
  • Right-clicking at any time deselects all points.
  • A sidebar of all commands has been attached to the VF Tuner, so users can see all commands easily. The sidebar can be collapsed by pressing the same button.
  • The VF Tuner screen can be resized by clicking and dragging the bottom right corner.
  • In addition to the Undo button at the bottom, Ctrl + Z may be used. The VF Tuner stores more than 100 operations to undo.
  • 0dB Mode Changes:
  • Generally, 0dB Mode functions as it used to, with some bug fixes. However, the visual behavior of the mode has been changed to clarify when 0dB Mode is being applied.
  • When a custom profile is applied, the 0dB Mode setting is now disabled. This is only a visual change. The behavior was the same previously, but now this is more clear in the UI.
  • Similarly, 0dB Mode only affects Auto fan curves, not custom curves. When a custom curve is applied, the 0dB Mode setting is disabled. This is only a visual change; the behavior is the same as it used to be.
  • In multi-GPU setups, 0dB Mode is a global setting, so it affects all supported graphics cards. Some bugs were fixed to make this consistent, as 0dB Mode sometimes only affected the main graphics card, not secondary cards.
  • Fixed multiple issues with 0dB Mode, including fans turning on or off at unexpected times.
  • Adjusted the behavior of the fan sliders and arrows, particularly with regard 0dB mode. This fixed a number of issues where fan speeds and user settings did not seem to match.
  • OSD Changes:
  • Fixed issues where the OSD could not be displayed in some games. This primarily affected Vulkan and DirectX 12 games, with notable titles being PUBG and Horizon: Zero Dawn,
  • Fixed a separate issue where the OSD would freeze its data in some other Vulkan games.
  • The OSD now shows data for all cards, side-by-side, in multi-GPU setups.
  • Improved self-closing behavior for OSD processes, so when GPU Tweak III or its OSD is force-closed or crashes, other processes also close./li>
  • Improved the behavior of the Classic Style picture function, particularly involving frame sizes.
  • Other Changes:
  • The behavior of deleting profiles has been modified to fix a consistent crash. Now, if the user deletes the User Mode profile, another profile will be set as the default User Mode profile (but retain its name). The last custom profile cannot be deleted.
  • Fixed mulitiple issues that could cause high usage with AMD CPUs involving the external fan handling service and the implementation of CPU-Z.
  • Fixed an issue with the manual slider for adjusting external fans where the chosen value and the actual applied duty would be different.
  • Adjusted the fan curve for the ASUS Turbo GeForce RTX 3080.
  • Fixed the clock speed for Nvidia GeForce GT 730 graphics cards.
  • Fixed visual bugs involving the sliders when "Sync GPUs" is enabled in a multi-GPU setup.
  • Added checks to prevent fans from switching between custom and auto fan curves erroneously. This could occur in a variety of instances, including when making user defined fan curves, or when switching between cards in multi-GPU setups.
  • Fixed an issue with profile importing that could prevent the user from being able to choose their settings from the graphics card drop-down.
  • Adjusted the logic of Undo and Default buttons in the Settings screen to make it more clear when those buttons are relevant.
  • A popup dialog now appears if the user tries to close the Settings screen after adjusting hotkeys. Previously, all other screens' changes counted for that message, but the Hotkeys screen did not.
  • The hotkeys for "GPU boost clock up" and "GPU boost clock down" are now functional, and they increase or decrease the boost clock by 10 MHz each press.
  • Hardware monitoring is now paused briefly (usually less than 1 second) when Windows system events occur. This is to improve stability.
  • The Monitor now uses the "Log frequency" interval as chosen in Settings > Monitor > Log Settings.
  • File folder selection for log settings has now been implemented. The feature can be found in Settings > Monitor > Log Settings.
  • Fixed a rare bug where the Monitor could link to the VF Tuner screen.
  • Improved the visuals of the log viewer screen.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause duplication of the Default button on the Home screen after rearranging icons.
  • The controls in the OC Scanner > Advanced Settings screen have been tuned to have better step points and smoother sliding.

New in ASUS GPU Tweak II 2.3.5.0 (Sep 24, 2021)

  • Fix bug: Abnormal fan curve and user define function on certain cards.

New in ASUS GPU Tweak III 1.2.7.5 (Sep 22, 2021)

  • Fan changes:
  • Adjusted the fan names in many ASUS graphics cards. Now the tuning settings for triple-fan cards show Fan Speed (Center) and Fan Speed (Sides), and for dual-fan cards the settings show Fan Speed (Left) and Fan Speed (Right). AIO graphics cards show the settings for blower fans and radiator fans. Meters in the Monitor, Dashboard, and OSD have also been adjusted appropriately. Non-ASUS cards still use the Fan 1 and Fan 2 naming.
  • Custom profiles no longer show the 0dB Mode switch. 0dB Mode did not affect custom profiles before, and using the switch could cause overwriting of tuning or fan settings.
  • Along with these changes, a large number of fan control issues have been fixed. The bugs that have been addressed range from problems when switching between Auto and Manual modes, custom curves not being applied properly on AMD cards, and fans hanging at set percentages, or getting stuck at 0% duty.
  • External fans that have their source set to CPU are now pulling data from CPU-Z, which improves stability and accuracy.
  • OSD changes:
  • CPU-Z integration has also been added through the entire OSD. This makes the information more accurate, and fixes issues with the OSD not showing CPU usage or temperature on some platforms.
  • Changed some default settings for the OSD. The largest change is that the OSD will start in GPU Tweak III style, not Classic Style, and the default metrics are FPS, System Time, and clock, usage, and temperature settings for both GPU and CPU.
  • The Timer has been implemented as a function of the OSD. To use the timer, run a game with the OSD, and ensure that System Time is enabled in the Information section. When playing a game, you can activate and stop the Timer with a hotkey (by default, it is set to F7). It will use the System Time spot, and two seconds after stopping, the System Time will return. Additional settings for the Timer are in consideration for the future.
  • Fixed a display issue where cards that only had one fan setting would show a second fan in the OSD which would have no values for Fan Duty or Fan RPMs.
  • Fixed multiple issues where the OSD data would not save properly or could be reset.
  • Fixed an issue when opening the OSD via the hotkeys where all the GPU metrics would stay at 0.
  • When switching modes, the fan slider now returns to the default for that mode, making the fan behavior more consistent and predictable.
  • Adjusted the OSD blacklist to fix some display anomalies with Armoury Crate.
  • Other changes:
  • Fixed an issue where custom voltage-frequency curves were not being saved or utilized correctly.
  • During installation, GPU Tweak III checks for DirectX and Visual C++ before prompting to install them, allowing for a smoother upgrade experience.
  • Screenshots can now properly save to a non-default folder. GPU Tweak III must restart for folder change settings to take effect.
  • Along with the previous change, the "OSD ADJUSTMENT" section that includes screenshot options has been moved from the Monitor to the General tab.
  • After saving a new custom profile, GPU Tweak III switches to the new profile and then automatically applies. The previous behavior required the user to apply a second time.
  • Fixed a display issue where part of the main screen would flash black when starting the ProfilingEngineEXE program.
  • Removed an unnecessary check that would cause an "mInitialize fail" error message to appear.
  • Made scroll bar movement smoother.
  • Improved the import function for Tuning Profiles to prevent failure when reading profile data.
  • When changing the background wallpaper, the Save, Undo, and Default buttons appear properly, so wallpaper can now be saved by itself without adjusting other settings.
  • Optimized performance by reducing the amount of calls and rewrites of settings.
  • Fixed several textual issues, with the most notable being on the "Hotkeys" screen.
  • Adjusted text, links, and icons on the "Tools" screen.
