What's new in Accordance Bible Software 13.1.7

Apr 20, 2021
  • Incorrect Instant Details when over certain Hebrew words in the Concordance.
  • Several issues when exporting a large Concordance to RTF. Also added optimizations to improve export speed.
  • During Bible Text import, where verses starting with an HTML tag would cause an error.
  • Possible crash when clicking on a Pie Chart section.

New in Accordance Bible Software 13.1.3 (Jul 29, 2020)

  • Timeline Fixes:
  • Where Timeline Item scripture links weren’t found if they were the end of the Timeline details information, such as for User Items with no description.
  • Timeline items that were searched for but not already present among the displayed items could overlap with displayed items.
  • Timeline items could be added to a custom list multiple times.
  • Issue that would prevent deleting custom items in the Timeline.
  • Where users who updated to the Enhanced Timeline wouldn’t get the settings files updated properly.
  • Other Fixes:
  • A Research pie chart could be blank if the class popup menu was set to “Version”.
  • Where clicking a section in Research pie chart could add “KEY” to the title instead of “ANY”.
  • Searching of characters such as brackets in Hebrew tagged texts now will avoid selection of other words near the brackets, such as Ketiv/Qere.
  • The Syntax Tree pane for Greek would show duplicate forms of words surrounded by brackets.
  • The Text “Ugaritic Tagged” would not show up in the “Other Texts” list in the Amplify menu.
  • When comparing texts, the Ignoring Hebrew Pointing didn’t apply to a lexical comparison.
  • Improved the TEXT command to account for a Text difference that shows an added word, and not even attempting to traditional Word Match that word, to avoid a bad hit elsewhere in the verse. e.g. THGNT-T Acts 20:4 adds “Ἀσίας” which would be incorrectly mapped to GNT28-T’s “Ἀσιανοὶ”.
  • Improved algorithm that determines whether or not to insert missing verses into the source Pane.
  • When the dot-dash Highlight pattern would only be drawn once instead of repeating.
  • Instant Details issue preventing External Tool Links preview from being filled.
  • Ability to Amplify and preview links to Ugaritic books.
  • Added error checking when previewing an External Link to better handle incorrect syntax.
  • The “Continue Setup” button would overlap the “Download All” button on new installations.
  • Where deleting a Highlight style would instead delete the previous Highlight style.
  • Links to modules were not falling back on the replacement module if the linked module was not available.
  • Certain characters could be cut out during “Copy as Citation” with a certain combination of Citation preferences. This was because the "Copy text as one block" was supposed to be greyed out if the "Show as:" popup menu in the Contents References section is set to "After Verse" or “Above Verse”, but would not be greyed out when the dialog opens, only when this popup was changed.
  • A Research Cache corruption that could cause a crash in some circumstances.
  • Crash that would occur when selecting “Convert Items to Custom List” in the Timeline menu.
  • Crash that could occur when loading a workspace containing a Timeline if User Items displayed in that Timeline had been deleted.
  • Crash that occurs when searching Greek syntax, in which variant forms are searched.
  • Crash that could occur when right clicking on the icon to add a User Note.
  • Crash that could occur when importing a user bible if the user chose a name containing invalid unicode characters. There will now be an error message warning about invalid unicode for file types that don’t support a unicode name.
  • Crash that could occur if attempting to load a font or font style that doesn’t exist.

New in Accordance Bible Software 13.1.1 (Jun 9, 2020)

  • Issue that prompted ‘Where is Time Data?’ alert.
  • Where My Toolset Tools would possibly be skipped if the Toolset wasn't alphabetically organized.
  • Errant beeping if performing Research using a LINK command.
  • Crash if doing an (All English) Search with a (LINK) command.
  • Issue when navigating by Mark button in a User Tools tab.
  • Copy As Citation:
  • When the embedded accord URL would be removed if any of the options that would strip vowels/cantillations/accents/breathing marks applied to the cited text.
  • Crash when copying non Unicode with the embedded accord URL.

New in Accordance Bible Software 13.1.0 (Jun 7, 2020)

  • Interface Enhancements:
  • Tweaked Construct drawing of vertical dividers and column shading to not overlap its horizontal dividers.
  • The title for an Analytics graph would not be changed to the appropriate font color for Dark Mode.
  • The popover information in a Research Analytics pie chart would not update its background color in Dark Mode.
  • Clicking on text where Instant Details are available should force the Instant Details for that text to show. This should have no effect for most users since the Instant Details will update when the mouse is moved over the text, but Windows Tablet users should now see Instant Details when clicking on an item.
  • Content autoscroll during a drag:
  • Optimized autoscroll during a drag for a more consistent scrolling action throughout Accordance.
  • Now the scroll speed is based on the distance to the edge.
  • Fixed the Info Pane, Stack, Paper, Diagram, and Library autoscroll.
  • Added autoscrolling to the Construct, so a high palette item can be dragged to a lower place on the construct, or other cases.
  • Various improvements to the Zone and Table Of Contents divider tracking.
  • Tweaked the cursor to perfectly line up on pane divider dragging with the actual drag area.
  • Improved the dragging of a horizontal pane divider from the top side, when it is over the text view.
  • Improved the UI when opening a syntax or WordMap file from the Finder/Explorer. If the file isn't installed it attempts to add it. It also will move/copy the file to the correct location, and open a search tab with that database open.
  • Applied new logic when opening saved tabs (not workspaces or sessions): Now the tab is added to an existing open workspace, similar to the logic used with a Cmd/Ctrl-N or Amplify.
  • The “About Accordance” window now has a right click menu that will allow certain useful system information to be copied to the clipboard.
  • Intertextual Searching Improvements:
  • To get better results when specifying TEXT word counts, now variants are better handled for TEXT searches. If a result is part of a variant sequence, then the entire variant sequence is used for the matching. This enables searches like {NIV11-GKE 120} to match all three Hebrew words used in that construction.
  • Improved Intertextual Searching to ignore variants, when their lexical form is the same. This causes better alignment when one of the two texts had a variant form for tagging, but the other did not.
  • Searching Improvements:
  • Significantly sped up the loading of Research results with many hyperlinks.
  • Enhanced searching for a variant form's alternate variation.
  • Significant Info Pane optimizations
  • Now the pictures are read directly from the book cover cache.
  • Improved searching for loaded module names, book cover names, and commentaries.
  • Better memory management of loaded module information.
  • Syntax Tree pane Improvements:
  • Optimized the rendering of the Syntax tree as it is being redrawn, scrolled, or adjusted in size.
  • When viewing the Syntax Tree pane to the right or left of the Text, made the Tree display much more stable as verses are scrolled.
  • Several issues when drawing the Syntax Tree correctly when the pane is below rather than to the side of a text.
  • Improved scrolling interaction by allowing diagonal scrolling (H + V at the same time), such as from a trackpad.
  • Improved the display of speech for ETCBC when setting the nodes to display their codes.
  • Improved the buffer space between a node and its connecting lines.
  • Improved the “target area” of a node, when viewing the Instant Details of the node, to fit more closely to the size of the node. That is, the “target area” will be wider for nodes that have more details in them.
  • A subtle “jog” that sometimes occurs when rendering a node line at the same word level.
  • Missing lines in the Holmstedt Syntax Tree near the compound word nodes.
  • Importing/Exporting Content Improvements:
  • Currently, when exporting (Copy or Save as Text File) Text Browser content with multiple verses shown, the verses are grouped by translation. Added a new export option to interleave the verses (grouped by verse).
  • Certain Interlinear table exports will now export more cleanly.
  • Copying as a citation from a Text, Tool, or Stack will now put the URL as a hyperlink on the title when pasted into an app that recognizes RTF formatting. This also applies when copying a Stack item that was added from a Tool.
  • When converting Hebrew text to transliteration, the hard-space character is no longer removed, unless it is part of a whole word, such as a word with a final nun followed by a kamatz vowel point.
  • Added an Export preference to make dragged-and-dropped content formatted by the citation formatting preference.
  • Improved styling support for incoming content from Drag and Drop.
  • Changed the export of Greek and Hebrew to unicode to be fully decomposed, rather than electing to use Extended Greek (U+1F00…) or Presentation Hebrew (U+FB20…) forms. This is due to an incompatibility with Nota Bene.
  • Since Greek and Hebrew now export decomposed, improved the Unicode -> Language recognition for these ambiguous combining diacritical marks.
  • Changed import and export of Hebrew caret from ^ (U+005E) to U+2038. Although it is still not a diacritic, it is smaller and lower.
  • Wifi sync Improvements:
  • During WiFi sync, added support for creating folders on the desktop based on the incoming folder structure of user files from the device, and placing the incoming files within said folders.
  • Corrected sync logic for device-only Stacks, Papers, and Highlights to default OFF rather than ON.
  • Improved the Sync dialog to not allow two sync initiations to happen at once. Once one sync begins, the 'Connect' button is dimmed while starting the sync, preventing a second sync start until the first has failed or completed.
  • Updated icon in Select Mobile Device dialog to latest Accordance Mobile icon.
  • Miscellaneous:
  • A Web Browser can now save and load from Workspace file properly regardless of how long the url is.
  • Various pane text rendering issues when using Copy As Interlinear.
  • Where “Copy as Resource Link” would mess up certain unicode searches.
  • Selection rectangles in the Library can now be drawn even if starting at a source node, such as “Texts” or “Tools”, although the source node itself will not be selected.
  • The context menu for user items in the Library now has the option to show the file location in the system file browser.
  • The “About This Module” pop up will adjust its width to fit longer titles.
  • Where the Diagram database couldn’t do ‘About This Text’ if its pane had not been displayed yet.
  • Crash when searching for a blank inflected for (“ “) and RANGE command.
  • Possible crashes when reading User Notes files that have not been updated to new format.
  • Updated Help for 13.1.
  • Searching fixes:
  • Where wildcard searches containing parentheses would not work with Flex Search.
  • Words that were variants could be highlighted as hits when searching a Greek tagged text, even if they were not variants of the word being searched.
  • When certain searches wouldn't switch from verses to flex when they should. Specifically, searches that contained an "f" somewhere, and also a "-".
  • Rendering issue with the [HITS=k tabname] command and a unicode tabname.
  • A leading = in a TEXT search would cause the contents to be styled in English.
  • Where extra search conditions for Texts would not be visible unless the tab was positioned at the left of the Workspace.
  • When the plus icon to add extra search conditions could move off the right side of a narrow tab.
  • When displaying hit results in a Tool, sometimes hits would not be displayed.
  • Where selecting an item in a Book Chart analysis would inadvertently open the Intertext Select dialog.
  • If “Intertext” was set as the default Analysis graph class, then a blank graph was opened for a non-Intertext search.
  • Where the Analysis class popup for keyed Texts would take on the opposite value of what it should have been.
  • Analysis graphs would revert to the default class when loaded from file, rather than using the class saved to the file.
  • The title of an Analysis tab would not update when the linked Search Text was changed to a different Text.
  • User Content fixes:
  • The incorrect placement of the disclosure triangle for a Paper item with a hidden outline marker.
  • When the font bar in an Edit window would not update to reflect changes made via the “Display -> Style” menu.
  • Problem with the recent “Automatically update User Notes after editing” feature that caused it to also apply to User Tools.
  • Where “Hidden” (appearance of the linked text has been changed) verse hyperlinks would not respect the preference to open in a Text Browser.
  • Where the “Remove Link” button would not function if the link was the first style in a note.

New in Accordance Bible Software 13.0.5 (Apr 11, 2020)

  • Fixes for new version 13 features:
  • Significantly improved the ability to erase pen highlights using the Live Eraser. Shapes can now be erased by clicking anywhere on their actual shape.
  • Multiple issues when undoing and redoing pen Highlights.
  • When some User Files menu options were incorrectly available when in a Tutorial.
  • Cases when Right-click Tutorial actions would refer to the wrong control/Tab.
  • The "Enabled" checkbox in the Highlight palette will no longer become checked when the Highlight file is switched.
  • The state of the "Enabled" checkbox in the Highlight palette will now be retained after opening and closing the "Define highligh styles" dialog.
  • Highlight dialog case when the Highlight after the selected Highlight would be deleted.
  • Where the Highlighting buttons that pop up when text is selected would not change if the selection was changed by the arrow keys.
  • PDF import fixes (NOTE: applies to new imports of PDFs):
  • Improved support for converting decomposed Greek Unicode to Helena, so the accents won’t set the font to Rosetta.
  • Multiple word alignment errors.
  • Field error where words following immediately a verse reference would be placed in the wrong field.
  • Word alignment error where words immediately following a scripture reference wouldn’t reset their language, for determining what is a character.
  • Searching fixes:
  • Significant improvements to the Strongs-GK conversion for Live Click:
  • Issue when quickly loading a module’s contents that occasionally skipped certain parts of the content.
  • Crashes and missing search results for certain key Texts.
  • Improved matching for multi-lexical keys by aligning any of the lexical forms.
  • Improved matching when dealing with minor vowel variation.
  • Where the corrected key number was not used when loading the actual results to display, or when opening the Search tab.
  • Case when picking a Text in the TEXT dialog would not set the entry text to the correct font, which caused Israeli keyboard settings to be ignored for the first character.
  • Where a TEXT command in certain Syntax Constructs wouldn’t be processed correctly and searched, since the calls checking for Intertext weren’t going inside of clauses/phrases.
  • Where TEXT commands linking to unicode Texts would not render the search terms in unicode.
  • Quick Entry issue where the shortcuts shown for search Commands would not represent the actual shortcuts as they appear in the keyboard shortcut preferences.
  • Certain Syntax Constructs that lead to blank analytics.
  • Where a word with two+ key number variants wasn’t searched correctly, as the variant code was only expecting variants in Lex or Tag types.
  • Now when amplifying from a word with multiple key numbers Accordance will use ‘@‘ instead of ‘AND’, since @ is needed for information on a single word, and AND now expects results in different word locations.
  • When opening a Tool verse reference in the Text Browser would not work if only displaying Articles or Paragraphs.
  • Where MTLXX and Syntax data couldn’t be loaded for a search analytics at the same time.
  • Where loaded MTLXX and/or Syntax data wasn’t propagated to the Results used by the Pie or Bar charts.
  • When ‘smart amplify’ing from the Analysis tab would grab the root instead of lexical form.
  • Amplifying to the Timeline would sometimes open a new Timeline tab, even though the word appeared in an existing Timeline tab that was set to recycle, and using the default Timeline dating preference.
  • The Instant Details for search links when the search was for a number would mistakenly retrieve the Instant Details for the paragraph number.
  • Issue with Instant Details from a Concordance if “European Verse Notation” was turned on. Specifically, it wouldn’t work if the book was an abbreviation ending in a period.
  • Instant Details would sometimes not update properly in a Text or Reference List tab where the contents had recently changed.
  • Expanded Instant Details issue where the displayed info could revert to the wrong word.
  • Interface fixes:
  • When changing the font size in a Text Browser pane would not cause the pane to resize.
  • Improved Interlinear extra width drawing in a unicode RTL text (e.g. Quran) to account for inserted RTL markers and the fact it is RTL, but not reversed characters.
  • For ideographic languages, like Chinese, Interlinear extra widths will now be inserted at any character, rather than looking for a space.
  • Improved Tool picture rendering to not attempt to draw a box if the picture is too narrow or thin.
  • Support for systems localizing their dates in unicode (e.g. Hebrew).
  • When the menu labels “Greek Syntax” “Holmstedt Syntax” and “ETCBC Syntax” would not respect localization.
  • When controls were overlapping the zone title if the "Hide tab area if only a single tab" preference was turned on.
  • Dark Mode improvements:
  • Fixed embedded Tool diagrams’ (e.g. genealogies) draw colors.
  • Text color in the List All Books tab
  • Export color of copied Stack items.
  • The Atlas and Timeline zoom buttons are now inverted.
  • Atlas and Timeline legend.
  • Atlas scale.
  • Timeline frame (archeological period, region, year ruler) and selected item details bubble.
  • Time report background.
  • Significant User Notes in Dark Mode improvements:
  • Restored the theming of user black text to white if in Dark Mode. However, now it also only occurs if their display choices are one of our default themes, so we know the background is good.
  • The initial theme for a User Notes tab will now adjust to Dark Mode.
  • The default text color of the Edit tab to be a true black, to match the other Dark Mode choices.
  • Issues causing User Notes preference choices to not be handled consistently.
  • User Content fixes:
  • Missing Stack Bibliography information when copy/pasting into a Paper. (Was already present for Drag and Drop, but not the clipboard).
  • New Tab menu where Stack folders of the same level would show up as inside of each other.
  • The first item in a Stack folder in the New Tab menu would always open the current Stack, instead of the Stack at the top of the folder.
  • Missing alphabetization of the Stack subMenus.
  • More reliable and regular automatic backups of Papers.
  • More improved handling of saving large Paper files during certain edit sessions.
  • Where clicking on a Paper wouldn’t remove toolbar search focus.

  • Unicode encoding errors which could mess up Instant Details and search terms in unicode Texts.
  • Where paper items wouldn't resize after inserting a link.
  • Paper items containing a bibliography link would have all other links improperly point to the bibliography as well.
  • Improved the speed of verse recognition during User Tool import.
  • During User Tool import from a text file where scripture references near the start of a paragraph could go unrecognized.
  • Where converted User Tools could not be saved to “My Toolset”.
  • Some false positives with Auto Linking scriptures:
  • The words “am be he hi is to gas let man” will no longer be taken for book abbreviations when followed by a space and a number if lowercase. If upper case, or if followed by chapter AND verse, they will be auto linked to the appropriate books.
  • Previously, Auto Linking would allow invalid chapter numbers as long as the chapter had the same number of digits as the max chapter in the book (e.g. Gen 99 would be allowed and would point to Gen 50). This restriction has been tightened and invalid chapters will only work up to 120% of the max chapter. (e.g. Gen 60 will link to Gen 50, but Gen 61 will not be auto-linked at all)
  • Auto Linking a tool where verse references could be ignored if there was a number immediately before them (e.g. “20 Lev 1:1”).
  • Where the scroll bar in an Edit user text tab wouldn’t show up until the first time something was typed.
  • The "Toggle Search" hotkey could set the search field to an invalid value in User Tool tabs.
  • Incorrect User Notes Browser information for notes on certain Tools.
  • Potential searching problems in Old User Notes.
  • Miscellaneous Fixes:
  • Improved error handling when sending Library items to the trash. This could apply when selecting a Stack folder and its subitem, trying to send both to the trash, when the first call to move the folder would also move the file.
  • Missing font style information for certain RTF exports.
  • The location URL could be added when copying from a Text even if the checkbox for that preference was not checked.
  • Where a dagesh at the end of a Hebrew inflected form would be deleted, as it was mistakenly considered as punctuation.
  • Case when starting Speech would exit reading mode.
  • When copying as a Citation, if the “omit entire reference” option was turned on then the space inserted between verses would take on the formatting of the omitted verse reference.
  • Spaces would not be inserted between verses when using Copy as Citation. This only affected users who had never changed their Citation preferences.
  • The “Get Verses” hotkey would be registered to the System even if the checkbox in export preferences was turned off. This could lead to undesired conflicts with other applications.
  • Where a Dropbox sync on quit would not actually sync if the startup mode was set to something other than last session.
  • Where the slide show controls:
  • would fade out even when you were holding your mouse over them.
  • would always reset to the bottom left corner, instead of remembering where they were last placed.

  • Case when exporting a Paper as RTF that would miss the list header markers.
  • Issue when loading a Paper would break Auto Saved sessions.

  • Where the text in a search was not properly being bolded.
  • Where showing a transliteration text in Instant Details wouldn’t use the correct font, slightly corrupting the characters.
  • Case when unicode Arabic word would be missing from search results.
  • Now the Word List dialog will size correctly for its font - especially needed in something like unicode Arabic.
  • When typing English characters in the Word List dialog didn’t get converted to unicode correctly when needed, such as unicode Arabic.
  • Case when the last character of an entry is a bracket in Hebrew, the cursor would always jump to the end. Removing that jump doesn’t seem to have any adverse effects.

  • When the Reference List description could not be colored,.
  • When changing corpuses of a Reference List, if the user declined the change, the old value would not be restored.

  • Minor issues during a first time setup.
  • A hang when trying to load MTLXX data for an Intertext search.
  • A hang/crash when using Copy as Interlinear with a Hebrew passage containing variant codes. In Hebrew, the variant codes just need to be ignored, but no jumping is necessary.

  • Various issues affecting the ability to highlight in the Text Browser tab.
  • The Pen Highlight feature now works properly on Reference Tool panes in the Search tab.

  • Case when modules with bundled items, such as NET with NET Notes, would not become available for download when the bundled item was missing.
  • If an module requires a newer version of Accordance, the version that is required is now less likely to be hidden due to title length. It will also now be added to the module description.
  • Where an module exactly matching the required Accordance version would still be considered too new.
  • Miscellaneous Fixes:
  • When a Research amplify of Greek, if Hebrew preference is set to Literal, would always be inflected instead of lexical.
  • When attempting to open Research verses would result in a blank verses tab.
  • The Text Browser popup menu would become misaligned if there were dividers inside of User Groups.
  • Significant optimizations to handle Searches with many hits.
  • When changing the main search module, the hyper back/forward history didn’t correct for the new module.
  • When double clicking a HITS element in a Construct would close the dialog immediately.
  • The HITS in a Construct didn’t display the tab names in unicode.
  • Issue with adding references to a new reference tab.
  • Improved the detection of compound forms when searching with the Construct tab search for structures in which the same syntax tag encloses a compound form of that tag. • Issue when attempting to remove items from a device during WiFi Sync.
  • Improper handling of synced folders.
  • Several MSS characters that would not copy/paste.
  • Case when typing any prior punctuation or number would always adopt the style of the newly typed character. (e.g., a user typing a superscripted number would not be able to immediately follow it with unsuperscripted content)
  • The Map Display Dialog would not show a Default English Tool unless that tool had been deleted.
  • Missing context when skipping prior pages in a multi-page print.
  • Crash in Text Browser if using hotkeys to change text size with no pane selected. This will now cause all panes to change text size.

New in Accordance Bible Software 13.0.1.1 (Nov 8, 2019)

  • Potential crash when entering a TEXT search command.

New in Accordance Bible Software 13.0.1 (Nov 8, 2019)

  • Mac and Windows Bug Fixes:
  • When performing an Intertextual search on RTL text that contained parentheses within a command (e.g. {TARG2-T {VERB (hifil, ishpeel)}}), the parentheses would be incorrectly flipped and the search would fail.
  • For Instant Details, when Hebrew information in a key Text and Arabic information would cause the RTL text to run into the transliteration.
  • Where an Arabic tagged Text would amplify to an English, not Hebrew Construct.
  • Case when changing a Tool tab’s primary module that resulted in a failed search due to an incorrect mapping of extra search fields.
  • Significant optimizations when Accordance is processing Library changes to improve interaction speed, etc.
  • Potential PDF Import crash that could occur when processing lines consisting of one hyphen.
  • Potential PDF Import crash when processing certain paragraphs with multiple links to certain PDF items.
  • Issues when recalling saved Parsing tabs.
  • Crashes when attempting to crass highlight to panes like LXX-B, which did not have grammatical tagging.
  • Crash when creating a Library folder or divider for User Tools.
  • Crash when importing certain PDFs.
  • Crash when reading old highlight files.
  • Windows Specific Bug Fixes:
  • When editing User Content, restored the ability to paste pictures and properly resize large pictures.
  • Improved standard control sizing to explicitly scale by DPI and combo popups to size correctly for high dpi.
  • Potential crash when rendering Atlas regions.
  • Checkboxes were drawing their background incorrectly on a floating window, such as the Highlight Palette.
  • Ovals/ellipses rendering issue that caused them to draw offset.
  • PDF Import:
  • Case where Unicode text could sometimes be converted to the wrong Accordance font.
  • Improved the removal of invalid characters while importing.
  • Added a check so that unusually long strings would not be imported from a PDF, as there is unlikely to be a legitimate case where a single line of text would contain a thousand characters.

New in Accordance Bible Software 12.3.6 (Aug 2, 2019)

  • Important bug fixes.

New in Accordance Bible Software 12.3.5 (Jul 30, 2019)

  • Usability enhancements with Bible Text Import, Paper endnotes enhancements, InApp EULA presentation, and several bug fixes.
  • Changes:
  • Paper items that have a bibliography endnote now have a right click menu option to remove it.
  • Auto-generated Paper endnotes and bibliography items will now be skipped over when tabbing between editable items and can no longer be edited by clicking outside the text area.
  • The Paper item currently being edited will no longer move when trying to scroll up beyond the top of a Paper.
  • When copying a Tool Stack item, the Accordance location url will be included if the user has the bibliography preference for that enabled.
  • Key number texts now create Interlinear columns for each variant, rather than only showing the first variant.
  • Cross Highlighting now marks all of the Interlinear columns associated with a variant word.
  • The “INFER” command can now be used with tabs whose name contains a “+” character.
  • Added a preference to disable auto-switching of the class pop-up in the Analytics Bar/Pie Chart. Can be found under Preferences -> Greek & Hebrew.
  • If auto-switching is enabled, but no class is “good” then the pop-up will remain at its previous value.
  • When copying as citation, or using get verses, the character after a paragraph marker will now be removed only if it is a space, instead of unconditionally.
  • Improved WiFi syncing of modules with a large file size.
  • Added a block to not allow Check for Updates or Sync to process any modules with illegal file name characters, such as a slash, such as “NIV-G/K”. This prevents bad attempts to sync them to the iOS device.
  • Implemented an in-app EULA presentation that works for both new or existing users.
  • Korean Localization: Complete updates for Atlas and minor changes for Timeline.
  • The keyboard hotkey conflict message now says “cancel” instead of “OK”.
  • Updated help for 12.3.5
  • Better support for the Modern Hebrew NT with Strongs (MHNTS):
  • When shift-triple clicking on a keyed text, now the dictionary loaded is of the source module language, rather than assuming English. This also has a positive benefit for the GNT-TRS.
  • Where the Analysis converted Key Strings based on the parent language, which was fine for English, but destructive for other languages. Since the string is always english, e.g. ‘G011 Abraam’, it should not be converted in this case.
  • Where amplify code assumed that the key string should always be used when going Key -> Tagged text. This made sense for GNT-TRS, but not MHNTS. Now the string is only used if the key language also matches.
  • Now, when Override Key Number Dictionaries is checked, the right click would still use the english word when searching the Greek or Hebrew dictionary.

New in Accordance Bible Software 12.3.4 (Apr 3, 2019)

  • Changes:
  • Updated Korean localization.

New in Accordance Bible Software 12.3.3 (Apr 2, 2019)

  • New Feature:
  • Added Korean localization.
  • Changes:
  • Improved Unicode text entry and display with mixed-direction text.
  • Improved speed of Instant Details' rendering of unicode.
  • Improved expanded Instant Details lookup of Aramaic terms.
  • The Hebrew Construct will no longer misinterpret unicode Arabic text.
  • Parallel text display improvements when a parallel pane has extra verses not present in the search or reference text. The extra verses are not shown with any of the following conditions:
  • The Search tab is in Word search mode.
  • The verse entry is non-contiguous.
  • The verse entry is specified to a verse level. That is, the entry Ps 51 may show the extra verses, but Ps 51:1-5 will not show the extra verses.
  • If a specific book has too many missing verses to fill, such as in some books of the DSSB-C, when it is the search or reference text.
  • Made the following improvements to User Bible import:
  • Added an explicit error message to not allow UTF16 files to be imported. All Unicode files must now be UTF8.
  • Improved the “detection” of UTF8 files that consist of languages supported by the Accordance ASCII fonts, such as Greek, Hebrew, etc. These files will be converted from UTF8 to ASCII using the respective Accordance fonts. UTF8 files that have mixed Accordance languages or no Accordance languages will be kept as Unicode modules.
  • Qumran import enhancements
  • Import of texts with chapter strings versification is now supported.
  • Import of texts with over 200 books is now supported.
  • Improved import of European verse notation and support “.” as a verse divider.
  • The progress bar will now properly advance for the entire import, rather than stalling and giving a spinning wheel briefly near the start for large texts.
  • Issue that could lead to misaligned verses in an imported text.
  • The Info Pane should no longer cause Text Info pop-ups, even if the user has disabled the “Suppress opening text information” preference.
  • Updated the titles of search analysis tabs to allow unicode.
  • Switching the “Notes Order” version will no longer cause the “Opening Text Information” to display.
  • Setup Assistant’s “Default Text” will now also be set as the web browser’s default text for scripture links.
  • Upgraded the WiFi sync ‘encoding error’ dialog to try to also show the name of the file it failed to encode.
  • Changed the “Suppress tool browser auto-sizing” preference to “Suppress Table of Contents auto-sizing in Tools”, since we no longer refer to the Table of Contents as “browsers” in the documentation.
  • The red “Range Selection” indicators in a Tool’s table of contents now align with the node they are indicating.
  • Updated help for 12.3.3.

New in Accordance Bible Software 12.3.2 (Jan 10, 2019)

  • Text browser tabs can now be renamed.
  • The Hebrew Construct ETCBC will now show “Clause” radio options in the correct dialogs.
  • The concordance for a search will no longer attempt to show original language book names in an English font.
  • The previous chapter/book buttons will now go to the start of the current book/chapter, rather than the start of the previous one, unless it is at the first verse in the ref list that is from that chapter.
  • The flex/exact button in tools will now also check the state of the extra conditions when determining whether to dim.
  • When text is amplified to a diagram, it should now align with the default grid spacing.
  • The web browser context menu items for “Download Linked File” and “Download Image” have been removed, since these are not supported.
  • When a workspace with the map is saved, the sites, regions, routes, and user layers that are currently selected will be saved delocalized, if possible, and are relocalized when loaded. This allows the items to remain selected if opened on a system using a different localization.
  • Where changing the “Group” dropdown menus in Live Click preferences would not un-dim the OK button.
  • In “Get Verses”, if the “Use Citation Format” box is checked, the process should now respect ALL of the user’s Citation preferences.
  • The user Bible import dialog now has a checkmark for use when the text is Arabic. If set, the import will assume the imported text is Arabic, and will skip the logic that tries to determine import language. The options for this dialog are now hidden unless the user hits “Advanced”.
  • More characters are checked during bible import to determine the language.
  • User Tool HTML import will no longer completely fail if a verse reference contains a typo somewhere in the document.
  • Optimizations for the info pane. The info pane should now load more quickly when it is initially opened.
  • Optimization to reduce startup time.
  • Minor optimizations for cross-highlighting.
  • Updated Greek Glosses.
  • Updated help for 12.3.2.

New in Accordance Bible Software 12.3.1 (Nov 16, 2018)

  • Changes:
  • Added a separate setting for the verse reference font size in the Text Browser preferences.
  • The Text Browser will now respect the “Limit Text Width” Appearance Preference.
  • If a tab tie scrolls a Text Browser outside of the range of verses its primary Text supports, it will cease updating rather than being blanked out.
  • In a stack item, user editable text will no longer have a 1500 character limit.
  • Research and Verse hyperlinks in Papers will now respect the “open hyperlinks in Text Browser” preference.
  • Shift-clicking a hyperlink in Research will now open the link, rather than selecting text.
  • Minor Italian localization updates.

New in Accordance Bible Software 12.3.0 (Nov 1, 2018)

  • New Text Browser feature, significant enhancements to Papers/Stacks, Research, Searching, Web browser, and much more!
  • TEXT BROWSER:
  • Use the new Text Browser tab to automatically show multiple translations of the same verse. This Text Browser can be linked to various other tabs (Search, Reference List, Context, Reference Tool, or User Notes) to show the top verse in all available translations or a predefined group of translations.
  • The Text Browser tab can be opened from the Amplify menu, from the right-click Look Up submenu, or from a “hard” hyperlink in a Tool tab that points to an external non-biblical text, if the Preferences are set to hyperlink to a Tool Browser tab rather than a Text tab.:
  • Up to 9 verses can be shown for each Text version.
  • Added Amplify -> Text Browser to the list of user customizable shortcuts, and set its default to Cmd/Ctrl - 6.
  • Enhanced copying of text for the Text Browser tab: If text in a single pane is selected, the Copy text feature works as before. But if no text is selected (even if a pane is selected), then the Edit>Copy menu item changes to “Copy All Panes”, and the entire text shown in the Text Browser tab will be copied.
  • Ability to save all panes to a file in the Text Browser tab, when there is no text selection in any pane. Saving the text can be done either as Plain Text or RTF. If the front tab is a Text Browser tab with no pane selection, the menu item in the File menu changes to “Save All Panes As Text File” to make this option clear.
  • Ability to print the contents of the new Text Browser tab. Printing always prints all of the contents of the tab, whether there is a selected pane or not, and whether the Print Settings dialog specifies to print only one pane or not. Note that many of the options in the Print Settings dialog do not apply to the Text Browser tab.
  • Ability to open the Text (Context) tab from the gear menu in any pane of the Text Browser tab.:
  • Option to open the the new Text Browser tab when clicking on a hyperlink verse reference in a Tool tab or in a Reference Tool pane in the Search tab. This preference can be toggled by holding down the Shift key while clicking on the Tool hyperlink verse reference. NOTE: If there are more than 9 verses in the Tool hyperlink verse reference, and if the Preference is set to open the Text Browser tab, only the first 9 verses of the text will be shown.
  • Updated the Live Click preferences to give the option of opening either the new Text Browser tab or the Research tab, when clicking on a verse reference in a Search tab. If the Shift key is pressed, it will toggle between these two options. This type of Live Click to a Text Browser tab supports the following:
  • The same Live Click text group preference is used as the text group in a new Text Browser tab.:
  • The new Text Browser tab from Live Click is opened with a default of both recycling enabled and tying from the Text Browser tab to its source tab.
  • After a Text Browser tab is opened, it will be reused if it has both the same text corpus and the same default text group as a source tab.
  • The source tab will be always set the Text Browser reference (or text order) text to be the same as its search text, whether opening a new Text Browser tab or recycling an older Text Browser tab.
  • The following Text Browser preferences are available in the ‘Web & Text Browser’ preference pane:
  • The default text group.:
  • The option to force all texts to be the same font size for new panes.
  • The font size to use, if forcing all texts to be the same font size. (Hebrew and other non-Latin fonts are proportionally adjusted in size.)
  • Suppress poetry: This applies to new panes.
  • Abbreviate Text Name: Determines if export lists abbreviation (“ESVS”) vs Human Readable Name (“ESV with Strong’s”)
  • Remove Line Breaks: This removes all line breaks in the export, both in the contents and between texts.
  • Hide verse reference: This hides all verse references in the export.
  • Hide superscripts: This hides all superscripts in the export.
  • Include Heading Details: This prepends the verse references and group used to generate the list in the export.
  • PAPERS/STACKS:
  • The Library now supports subfolders within the Paper and Stack subgroups. Subfolders can now be created anywhere in the Stacks or Papers in the Library. Each subfolder name must be unique within the Stack or Paper subcategory.
  • Changed the maximum number of characters for a Paper file name and a Paper subfolder name from 31 to 255 characters, since longer files names are supported in the Finder and the Library folder structure for Papers and Stacks are determined by the Finder and not by a Settings file. (This change also applies to Stack file names and Stack subfolders.)
  • Added a Word Count menu item as the first item of the Gear menu to show the word count of the text items as displayed by items selected in the Show pull-down menu. Only words are counted, not punctuation.
  • In the Paper tab, added a menu item to the Right-click menu to open the Paper settings dialog.
  • In the Paper tab settings dialog, added an option for [None] for each level of hierarchy markers to hide the item marker for that particular hierarchical level. When the option for [None] is set, the Hide Outline Marker menu item in the Paper item action menu is dimmed, if that Paper item is at the appropriate hierarchical level.
  • Added an option in the Text Item action menu for text items with no outline marker to resume the outline sequence for items after it, rather than starting the outline sequence over again.
  • In Preferences>Appearance added an option to open a Paper tab at a specified Zoom level, whether for a new Paper or an existing Paper file. This feature only currently applies to Paper tabs and not Stack tabs.
  • Added support for all types of links (Resource, Web, File, Scripture) and support for different displayed text for the link.
  • Now the Link and Endnote buttons are dimmed when not editing.
  • Improved paper handling of bibliography entries if the tool is not present. It now grabs as much information as it can, then notes that it may be incomplete due to the missing tool.
  • Improved paper endnote ‘Ibid’ entries to note if the number is a paragraph instead of page number.
  • Improved paper endnote ‘Ibid’ entries to properly support unicode localization.
  • Updated Copy and Paste to transfer bibliographic information directly from an Accordance Tool to the Paper tab without going via a Stack item, as follows:
  • When doing a simple Copy or Copy By Citation of text from an Accordance Tool, the bibliography information is now also copied from the tool with the new clipboard flavor. When the clipboard contents are pasted into a Paper tab, the bibliographic information will automatically be saved in the Paper tab.
  • Previously only a Drag & Drop from a Stack item would automatically bring over the bibliographic information.
  • If the clipboard contents are directly pasted into the edit window of the Paper tab, and if there is already previous bibliographic information in the item being edited, then a dialog box will appear to allow the user to either update the bibliography with the new pasted contents or leave the bibliographic information as is.
  • If the clipboard contents are pasted in a Paper tab as a new item, the article name from the source Tool will appear automatically in the Title field of the new Paper item along with the bibliography information.
  • Updated the Paper Template dialog to fix the custom templates drawing.
  • SEARCH and SEARCH VIEWS:
  • Completely revised the core searching of Accordance, so as to make the searching more accurate and to take into account punctuation and word variants, so as to minimize the complexity of word proximity calculations. This approach also better clarifies the distinction between word proximity index and the word hit highlighting index.
  • Fixed several search errors present in the current release for Construct proximity searching with three or more phrase terms connected by the WITHIN command when there are multiple possible hits within a verse or other scope.
  • Improved searching for implied words in phrase-tagged texts and the related Null searching in the Holmstedt Hebrew syntax data base.
  • Improved inflected searches, when a selection is not specified, to grab the word based on the tagged data, instead of getting the entire word bounds from punctuation to punctuation. This should only be called when coming from an RTL tagged text. This also improves live click when set to inflected.
  • Improved the searching of variants for the case when the number of words in brackets was greater than the number of corresponding words before the brackets.
  • When using the equals sign (=) in the Search tab, a specific message now appears if a space immediately follows the equals sign. The space is highlighted so that the user can simply delete it and continue the search. Previously this kind of error caused the vocabulary list dialog to appear with no clear explanation of the error.
  • When using the context menu “Search For” option, the new search tab that opens will try to keep the same pane proportions as the tab the search originated from.
  • Added a new search item - ANYSYNTAX - to the Construct tab for finding any tag item within a group of Syntax tags that are related, such as Subject, Predicate, Complement, Adjunct, and Specifier. The dialog interface is similar to that of the ANY Construct item that finds related morphological tags.
  • When dragging simple Syntax items such as subject, predicate, adjunct, etc. in the Construct tab, the dialog box that opens now offers the option of selecting the ANYSYNTAX item with the specific simple Syntax item already defined in the ANYSYNTAX item.
  • Fixed the ANY item to not accept parts of speech and categories within a part of speech, so as to avoid spurious search results. Only the tags themselves can be entered, such as "plural", "feminine", etc., but not “Verb”, “Number”, etc.
  • Cross-Highlighting should now work much better across panes. If one pane is able to highlight in another pane, the panes that are highlighted will highlight any panes that they can highlight that have not already been highlighted.
  • Moved the Live Click options from their own dialog to a page in the Preferences dialog.
  • Updated the Search view Add User Note icon to a plus, as well as the other user notes icons.
  • Improved alphabetization of unicode Arabic words.
  • RESEARCH:
  • The research browser has a new “Open In” dropdown menu for text results:
  • All verses can be opened in a text browser from the dropdown menu.
  • Opening in a workspace will repeat the research’s search in the new workspace, and will scroll all possible documents to the verse that was opened.
  • Moved the Flex toggle for a Research tab to a dedicated icon control on the right side of the entry box, like the tools tab.
  • Added support for Research Hebrew Literal searches, enabling a single string search that consistently works across tagged, untagged texts, and tools. The option is in the Search Options/History menu, where Flex used to be.
  • Added dimming of the Flex toggle control if the current language does not support it.
  • Added new Reading/Research preferences to explicitly determine whether a new Research tab is Flex/Exact and Literal/Grammatical.
  • Added a feature such that the title in the research browser will show the number of verses as well as the number of hits.
  • Improved speed when doing a research inflected search, as the tool results would be uncached even though there is no distinction.
  • Updated Research tabs so that a verse search with an equal sign in front of it would be able to return results in texts if they are part of the scope of the search.
  • Items can now be added directly to the Stack from the Research tab.
  • WEB BROWSER:
  • Added buttons to web browser for zooming in and out on pages where that is possible.
  • Supports automatic scripture verse references detection in the web browser:
  • Scripture references will be detected on webpages, and highlighted in red to distinguish them from normal links.
  • Clicking the scripture reference will open the user’s default web hyperlink version to that reference.
  • Hovering over the scripture reference will bring up instant details from that version.
  • Holding Command/Ctrl will show the alternate text in Instant Details, if possible.
  • There are now new preferences available for the Web Browser, in the “Web & Text Browser” preferences:
  • The home page can now be set by the user.
  • The default texts for hyperlinking scripture references in the web browser can now be selected.
  • Right clicking on web scripture references now shows the “Text Browser” option in the “Look Up” menu.
  • Items can now be added directly to the Stack from the Web Browser.
  • CITATION:
  • Copy as citation will use “Psalm” instead of the plural “Psalms” unless multiple chapters are being cited.
  • Added a preference to split discontiguous verses when using “Copy as Citation”
  • Improved reliability when copying several verses as citation.
  • Added an radio button in citation preferences specifying whether the entire citation should be enclosed in markers, or just the text title.
  • When a citation uses a book abbreviation, it will now add a period after the abbreviation unless the “Use SBL standard abbreviations” option is checked.
  • USER BIBLES:
  • Enhanced the import of User Bibles as follows:
  • Import of any UTF16 file is now supported.
  • Import of a UTF8 or UTF16 file which mainly uses a standard Accordance font, such as Greek, Hebrew, Syriac, etc., is now converted to be a regular Text module with Accordance fonts instead of Unicode fonts. (This gives better compatibility between other Accordance texts that use the same font.)
  • Other language groups such as Chinese, Russian, or even “extended” Latin Unicode remain as Unicode Bible texts.
  • LOCALIZATION:
  • Added Italian localization.
  • If the localization is changed, then any user settable default item (e.g. highlight style name, route layer, library categories, etc.) will be changed to the current localization.
  • Fixed the region and route lists from the region and route layers dialogs to properly display in current localization.
  • WIFI SYNC:
  • Stack and Paper can now be synced between your Desktop and Device.
  • Updated list icons to use modern library type icons, since there is no old color Stack or Paper icon.
  • Improved conflict detection when syncing User notes.
  • MISCELLANEOUS:
  • The Research and User Notes table of contents can now be hidden.
  • Switching pictures in a popover picture doc will now scroll to the same picture in the document under the popover.
  • Accordance web links in tools, papers, stacks, and notes will be parsed for instant details the same way it gets instant details for the older square bracket link types.
  • Updated workspaces names and workspace path names to support unicode and much longer filenames.
  • Added RTF parsing support of the superscript style. Also support for pasting smallcaps and HTML from RTF.
  • Added “Safe Mode” options to remove timeline and/or atlas files. Also the ability to uninstall Syntax Files, Diagram Files, and Interlinear Files.
  • When importing a User Tool from HTML, the area inside of “href” tags will not be checked for scripture auto-linking, so that the original link will not be destroyed.
  • Added an “Accordance Exchange” link to the Help menu.
  • Updated help for 12.3

New in Accordance Bible Software 12.2.9 (Sep 12, 2018)

  • Changes
  • Massive updates to the BibleWorksHebrewToYehudit routine:
  • Support for all the remaining characters, generated manually by comparing the raw fonts and matching as best as possible.
  • Changed the incoming encoding to want windows ANSI, as some characters used by BWHebrew aren’t present in MacRoman.
  • Fixed some small conversion errors.
  • When swapping the order of vowels and consonants, reversed the vowel/cantillation order so it remains logical (Consonant -> Vowel -> Cantillation)
  • If a conversion isn’t found, now the source character is retained.
  • When swapping the final string, do it line by line, so the lines themselves aren’t reversed.
  • Added support for importing a single book folder of User Notes, such as selecting the ‘Gen’ folder directly containing verse notes.
  • Modified how research results display when the “Full Text” display option is selected:
  • Tools with sub-articles will now also display the sub-articles of hits (up to a maximum number).
  • In the NIDNTT, both Greek AND English will be treated as a default field, so that the entire article will be displayed for either.
  • Adjusted how paper item indent and gear controls position, in order to prevent an overlap that could occur when the heading text spanned the full width of the page.
  • Added the ability to use the character search option (period (.) for inline searching, and the CHAR item in the Construct tab) for Unicode characters for both Texts and Tools.
  • Enhanced the construct CHAR dialog box by adding an option to select either ASCII or Unicode characters. This option is only supported for the Simple construct and is disabled for the Greek and Hebrew constructs.
  • When pasting text directly into the CHAR item in the Construct tab, the paste style is now ignored.
  • Improved case insensitive UTF8 string comparison for Armenian, that has problems with certain characters that capitalize oddly.
  • “Copy as search URL” will now convert all component strings to unicode if any of them are unicode, which fixes an encoding issue in “Strong’s Number” search URLs.
  • Accordance will now recognize the search field in a URL regardless of if the apostrophe in “Strong’s Number” is a regular apostrophe or a right single quotation mark.
  • Increased the hardcoded limit on books in a user bible from 100 to 200, which allows Quran import to go through.
  • Improved backward compatibility of Highlights files.
  • Filenames of User tools that are converted to tools are now shortened before adding the ° symbol, if they are too long.
  • Now if a module is deleted from the library, it is now also removed from user groups.
  • Apple deprecated the option to have title bars on the side with MacOS 10.12. Adjusted any windows with side title bars to have them on top instead in 10.12 and up.
  • Dialog Localization updates.
  • Updated help for 12.2.9

New in Accordance Bible Software 12.2.8 (Jun 29, 2018)

  • Changes:
  • Now holding Shift + Option when clicking to add a bookmark will take precedence over Live Click.
  • The Research analytics will now load the required data to show available Syntax information.
  • The “Show Analytics” hotkey will now also work in the Research tab.
  • Blocked Live Click for Word Usage on a non-text pane.
  • When switching a Search tab module from a unicode to a non-unicode text, the entry field search text will also be converted to non-unicode, if possible.
  • Improved importing of BibleWorks Notes files.
  • Improved loading times for Instant Details with a noticeable improvement in Arabic reaction times, due to the complex nature of Arabic word length.
  • Improved the font size of Instant Details
  • Updated Localization and help files for 12.2.8.
  • Improved Live Click:
  • A custom group can be used as the Research group for Verse Lookup, even allowing tool scripture searches.
  • A custom group can be used as the Research group for Word Usage, though this also filters the results to text only.
  • Added custom group for lexicon lookup in Live Click.
  • Holding the Shift key during Live Click will toggle the Live Click Type choices.
  • Generated Research tabs are now named for their function (Lexicon Lookup, Verse Lookup, Word Usage).
  • New Live Click Research tabs are now placed better.
  • Existing Live Click tabs recycle, regardless of changes to group or field. This helps maintain dedicated Live Click tabs, as long as they keep the original tab name somewhere in the name.

New in Accordance Bible Software 12.2.7 (Jun 15, 2018)

  • WHAT'S NEW:
  • Live Click feature for easy Research within a text:
  • Toggled in a Search window, options dialog to configure whether to use the Lexical or Inflected form, Key Numbers or written word.
  • Supports a lexical lookup in the dictionaries, a word or verse usage lookup to show usage within the current book or other texts.
  • Keyed texts to search other keyed texts for the KEY, instead of original language texts for the original language word.
  • Added an option (default:OFF) to delay the live click processing by the length of a double click (max 1 second). If a double click occurs in that time, cancel the live click. This allows for much easier double/triple click interaction.
  • RTF/bww notes files import feature for BibleWorks Notes:
  • The user selects a folder containing notes, which currently is expecting the bww scheme. Notes are named either as chapters (e.g. John3) or as references within a folder (e.g. John3_3)
  • The imported RTF data is added to user notes at the specified references in the filename.
  • Importing is done via the User Files menu, with a customizable keyboard shortcut.
  • Support for hyperlinks. Currently only the GOTOVERSE hyperlink style is processed, all other links are read directly.
  • Includes support of BWGreek and BWHebrew non unicode fonts.
  • Imported notes of length <= 5 are checked if they have any non-whitespace characters before importing, otherwise they are ignored.
  • Added support for importing notes in a variety of corpora.
  • Improved Qumran chapter note processing, since we cannot assume the chapters are numerical, we look for the presence of ‘f’ in the chapter name. This isn’t 100%, but its close.
  • The book name ‘Phi’ is now converted to ‘Phil’, as the ambiguity with ‘Philemon’ prevented import.
  • Importing multiple notes to the same reference (likely a chapter note + note on vss 1) now merges the contents together, with a (Filename) header.
  • CHANGES:
  • Significantly improved research speed when doing a “word RANGE book” style search. The cache is first used to determine if the word is present anywhere. If present, a “semi-fast” search is performed, where the module file is quickly walked to retrieve the book list, book-vss table, and concordance of words/lexes. Using this information, the word locations can be fairly quickly filtered to just the desired book. This supports OR searches (word1, word2), and seems to be a 4x-5x speed improvement.
  • Improved Research speed for uncached results and for finding relevant results in non-unicode texts, even if the field is set to Unicode.
  • Added new Research Sort “Library (Entry)” that maintains Library order, but places all first-field (entry) hits before all others.
  • Implemented Research Sort map, so new sort types can be added out of order, without affecting saved files/preferences.
  • Significantly improved Verse Search speed by using the RANGE technique. This is about 3-5 times faster than the prior method.
  • Significantly improved KEY research searches, using the same technique as Verse Search and ignoring any texts that don’t use Strongs Numbers.
  • Improved non-syntactical searching speed in a syntax text by not loading syntax stat results until requested in the analysis, similar to how mtlxx stat results work.
  • Improved searching speed in non-syntax texts when there are many results.
  • Improved instant details to display font sizes more consistently between texts, tools, unicode, non-unicode, timeline, and atlas.
  • Significantly improved book cover loading speed, such as when displayed in the Research and Library.
  • Updated help files for 12.2.7

New in Accordance Bible Software 12.2.6 (May 25, 2018)

  • Changes:
  • Improved instant details dictionary look up to not use the Gloss form of a Hebrew/Greek word when looking up common words like prepositions and articles, as this often lead to spurious hits.
  • Significantly improved handling of marked text, so we now work with Chinese/Japanese characters much better.
  • When pasting multiple lines into the search, a space will now be added after the semicolon that replaces the line break.
  • Changed Tab Linking to not return an all-caps name, as since going to unicode, we are case-insensitive directly anyway. This also improves visual experience for the CONTENTS command in a Search Back.
  • Tweaked the drawing of null hits, when at the start of a verse, to not overlap the first word.

New in Accordance Bible Software 12.0.0 (Nov 4, 2016)

  • Make Stacks:
  • Found something useful in your study? A great quote? An important insight? A picture worth a thousand words? Add it to your current "stack."
  • Stacks are a convenient place to collect bits of useful information. Accordance 12 keeps track of where each item came from, so you can always find it in context again. You can also sort all the items in a stack, add your own comments to each item, or star the ones you think are most important.
  • Create Papers:
  • Once you've done your research, organize your thoughts in a Paper.
  • Papers are designed to create incredibly flexible documents right within Accordance. Start with one of the included outline templates or start from scratch. Edit each point of your outline: its title, summary, content, and notes. Drag items from your stack directly onto the Paper to add them to your outline.
  • Customize Papers:
  • Once you've created a Paper, you can customize it for a variety of uses. Hide everything but the titles of each point to create a simple outline. Display the summaries of each point to create simple speaker's notes or an abstract. Display everything to print out a complete annotated manuscript. Collapse all but the main points of the outline or expand all the subpoints. Display the Bibliography for a properly formatted list of every Accordance resource you cited. With Papers, you can write once, then format for a dozen different uses.
  • Get More Info:
  • The Info Pane has been expanded to give more information about your current verse. New categories include Study Bibles, Grammars, Manuscripts, Manuscript Images, and a Word List. The Word List ranks the words in your verse to help you identify key words in a passage.
  • Interact with Analytics:
  • Search Analytics have been improved to become more interactive. Click an item in a graph to analyze that item. Triple-click a form in the Analysis to search for it. The increased interactivity makes it easier to make new discoveries.
  • Get Research Analytics:
  • When you use Research to search multiple Bibles, you can now use Analytics to visually compare the results across specific texts. For example, here's a comparison of the word "atonement" in different English Bibles. Tyndale, who probably coined the term, uses it sparingly. Later Bibles use the term more and more, probably because it had become more widely known among English speakers.
  • Customize Keyboard Shortcuts:
  • Accordance 12 now lets you assign your own keyboard shortcuts to features throughout the program.
  • Search Your Library:
  • Accordance 12 lets you search your Library to find resources which match certain Tags or which contain certain biblical books. Find commentaries which cover 1 Maccabees or which are "Expositional."
  • Use the ETCBC Hebrew Syntax and morphology database:
  • Accordance 12 supports the ETCBC Hebrew Syntax, formerly known as WIVU.
  • Follow a Family Tree:
  • Accordance 12 adds support for tools which include elaborate diagrams, such as the new Genealogies of the Bible. Use this module to see the family relationships which are central to understanding the biblical story.
  • Sync Via Wifi (Now on Windows):
  • Accordance 12 now lets Windows users sync with their Accordance mobile via Wifi. This requires Bonjour.
  • Enjoy Dozens More Improvements:
  • Accordance 12 includes dozens of other enhancements throughout the program: interface tweaks (like a new look for the Timeline), increased customization, performance enhancements, and greater functionality. Once you've soaked in all the big new features, you'll be delighted with all the little changes that can help streamline your Bible study.
  • MAJOR FEATURES:
  • Stack. The stack is a place to collect ideas for later use. These ideas may be excerpts from texts or tools, pictures, or items containing your own thoughts. Add items to the stack with Cmd/Ctrl-Opt-K, the Stack button on the toolbar, or via the Selection menu. View your stack from the Selection or New menu to organize items, adjust the title, add a comment, copy as cited content, mark as favorites, sort, etc. The stack can also be viewed from a click and hold on the Stack toolbar button. Multiple stacks can be created and named to keep separate idea collections. Stacks are saved in the Accordance Files/Stacks folder, and can easily be distributed to fellow Accordance 12 users.
  • Paper. A paper is a more structured word processor document, designed for creating outlined content, whether a sermon, lecture, lesson, academic paper, or other. Create new papers from the File menu or toolbar item. Created papers are listed in the Library under My Stuff. You can drag and drop Stack items onto a paper. Scripture links are automatically recognized and do not need to be styled. Paper items can be moved around to adjust their hierarchy. Use the Show menu to adjust which elements of items are shown, such as only the Title for a handout, or Title + Summary for speaking hints during a presentation. For items coming from the Stack, an automatic End Note and/or Bibliography section can be shown.
  • Improved Analytics. Visual upgrades to Pie, Bar, Hits, and Analysis Graphs. Pie and Bar charts are interactive, supporting instant details, mouse hover effects, and clicking on segments. A click on a Pie or Bar segment will show a new set of results related to the clicked segment. Hits and Analysis Graphs support zooming and panning.
  • Research Analytics. Analytics can now be performed on Text results of any research search. They default to showing the aggregate (combined) results across all texts. Using the 'Compare' browser, different results can be compared. Clicking on a segment will show the texts that contributed to that one result.
  • Improved Info Pane. The Info pane categories can now be reorganized, and it supports new categories for Study Bibles, Grammars, Manuscripts, Manuscript Images, and Word List. The Word List lists each word in the verse, sorted by frequency, alphabet, or concentration - a unique way to locate important words to the passage.
  • Support for the ETCBC Hebrew Syntax and morphology database.
  • Custom Keyboard Shortcuts in the Preferences.
  • Upgraded timeline visuals. Brand new look for the timeline. Some old stylistic choices (such as item style, drop shadow, etc.) have been removed.
  • (Windows only) Wifi-sync support. This requires Bonjour, which can be installed from within the program if not already installed with iTunes.
  • Support for the Genealogies module.

  • MINOR FEATURES:
  • The Info Pane shows the Author when possible, can be automatically added to search tabs, supports a right-click to research a topic, and reuses panes when opening commentaries.

  • When researching a [TOPIC] search, texts are searched for the verses, but tools are searched for the topic itself, allowing for a single comprehensive search.

  • accord:// links can be automatically appended to the end of text or tool citations.
  • Verse references can now be clicked in the concordance tab.
  • Triple click a term the Analysis tab to perform a smart analysis search.

  • — External and hidden links are now supported: Scripture, Web, File, and Resource. These links do not have to be displayed in the text.
  • — Significant redesign of the window for improved graphical appeal.
  • — A new language menu lets the user specify which language to enter when typing normal characters. If Greek or Hebrew are selected, this allows for easy entry using Yehudit and Helena keyboard layouts, even though the note is unicode. This also allows for easy keyboard shortcuts to swap languages.
  • — A 'last edited' time is now present while editing the note.
  • For User Tools: pictures, links, language menu, and improved graphics are all supported as with User Notes.
  • User Tools can now be converted to a regular tool, allowing the use of Highlights, User Notes, and full searching.
  • Significant improvements to User Bible import:

  • — Phrase and Clause elements now support searching by depth, which specifies the maximum number of allowed terms between the phrase/clause and the required elements within it.
