  • FCP XML Time Remapping Support:

  • With this release, Adobe Media Encoder supports an option to directly export to an XDCAMHD Disc.
  • QT XDCAM HD to MXF XDCAM HD Smart Rendering:
  • You can smart render your QuickTime XDCAM HD sources in to an MXF wrapper. It’s as simple as selecting the Enable Smart Rendering checkbox of a matching MXF OP1a preset.
  • HEVC Support for 10-bit output:
  • Adobe Media Encoder supports HEVC 10-bit output. You can choose your preferred bit depth by selecting either Main or Main10 (for 8 or 10-bit respectively) under the Profiles setting of the HEVC Video tab.
  • New checkbox added to remove XAVC-Intra spec limitation on duration:
  • A new checkbox, Sony device compatibility has been added to XAVC export settings. By default, this setting is unchecked and generates output that always matches the full duration of your source. When checked, the output will adhere to Sony specifications that may truncate the end of your file.
  • Match Source option for still image formats:
  • Match Source is now offered for all still image formats supported by AME, matching the source frame height, width, rate, field order and aspect ratio. Older presets have been removed and replaced with the new Match Source versions.

  • PUBLISH FILES TO CREATIVE CLOUD:
  • The new Publish tab in the Export Settings panel replaces the FTP tab and can be used to upload files to an FTP server or to Creative Cloud. All uploads are now done in parallel without blocking other encodes. The Queue panel displays the state and progress of FTP as a new child item for an output.
  • ENCODE PREMIERE PRO AND AFTER EFFECTS PROJECTS AUTOMATICALLY USING WATCH FOLDERS:
  • You can now import and automatically encode After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Final Cut Pro (FCP) XML projects into Adobe Media Encoder using watch folders. You can also import a file that you have created via scripting provided the XML structure is valid.
  • If you move your project to a watch folder location, links to associated media can get broken especially if your watch folder is on a network drive. Ensure that the system running Media Encoder is able to find all of the project's media. You can also place a shortcut to your project file in the watch folder instead of moving the actual project file.
  • CHANGES TO MATCH SOURCE PRESETS:
  • When exporting video files in H.264 or MPEG-2 format, Adobe Media Encoder lets you automatically match the video settings of the source file using Match Source presets. Match Source functionality has been expanded to the QuickTime, MXF OP1a, and DNxHD MXF OP1a formats. Adobe Media Encoder CC 2014.1 release includes new Match Source presets that lets you easily apply the new settings.
  • DNxHD/MXF OP1a presets:
  • The DNxHD/MXF OP1a presets function is a little different from the traditional match source behavior. There are no controls to do a match source on the specific parameters. Use these presets to simplify your workflow when you want to get your media into an MXF wrapper. You do not have to choose from any settings and can use this preset directly. The following source media are supported: XDCAM HD/EX, AVCI, XAVC, IMX, DV, DNxHD
  • QuickTime:
  • QuickTime codecs can now automatically match the parameters of your source file. You can apply a QuickTime preset and select Match Source from the Export Settings dialog.
  • MULTIPLEX DURING ENCODING:
  • Adobe Media Encoder can now multiplex MPEG-2 streams while encoding the source. Previously, multiplexing was handled in a separate step; a separate video and audio file was first created and then the individual files were multiplexed at the end of an encode. When handling larger files, this separate multiplexing process made it seem as though Adobe Media Encoder had frozen.
  • Multiplexing during encoding has the following advantages:
  • Increased encode throughput for MPEG-2.
  • Decreased disk usage.
  • GOPRO CINEFORM CODEC SUPPORT:

  • WHAT’S NEW:
  • Improved DCP color calibration: Improved color calibration from QuVIS for BT709 workflows. This will result in improvements in source color matching, color saturation, and increased detail in darker areas.
  • Moved user preferences and presets to new location: Preference and preset files are now located in your user profile’s Documents folder, instead of a folder hidden by the operating system. All preferences and presets from Adobe Media Encoder CC 2014 (8.0) will be automatically moved to the new location. Premiere Pro CC 2014 and Prelude CC 2014 will continue to see and make available your encoding presets.
  • 4K support in H.264: A new 5.2 Level choice for H.264 provides full support for 4K frame sizes and frame rates.
  • New YouTube encoding presets: The encoding presets for YouTube have been completely rebuilt and simplified. The changes include:
  • A new preset for 4K resolution (3840 x 2160).
  • All 360p presets have been removed.
  • The Frame Rate and TV Standard settings on all YouTube presets now use Match Source, so only a single preset is required for each frame size.
  • The Target and Max bitrate of the new presets are higher to better align to YouTube’s recommended settings for High Quality uploads.
  • 1-pass instead of 2-pass encoding, which reduces encoding times without a significant loss in quality. Note that YouTube automatically re‐encodes all uploaded videos for optimized streaming, regardless of source codec. YouTube recommends H.264, which offers both high quality bitrates and reduced upload times.
  • The new presets are: YouTube 2160p 4K (40 Mbps), YouTube 1080p HD (16 Mbps), YouTube 720p HD (16 Mbps), YouTube 480p SD Wide (8 Mbps), YouTube 480p SD (8 Mbps)
  • FIXED BUGS:
  • 25fps XDCAMEX files were 1 frame short when smart rendering was in use. This is fixed.
  • Complex video assets produced blurry image every 1 second when encoded into H.264. This is fixed.
  • XAVC Intra 2K or 4K encoding without including audio failed. “Error Compiling movie. Unknown error.” This is fixed.
  • Media Pending frames did not go away after an MPEG source had been indexed. This is fixed.
  • Error “[..\..\src\Command_FormatChanged.cpp‐93]” appeared when a preset was deleted. This is fixed.
  • Export failures, assert and error messages occurred when selecting “Match Sequence Settings” for a 120fps GoPro file. This is fixed.
  • Transcoding DPX files to XAVC at UHD resolution failed. This is fixed.
  • Exporting a merged clip from Premiere Pro would result in silent audio or a failed encode. This is fixed.
  • Encoding a 4K clip with text or timecode overlay effects using OpenCL Mercury Playback Engine acceleration on Mac OS resulted in bad frames. This is fixed.
