New in AlomWare Reset 4.01 (Oct 23, 2017)

  • Bug fix: The app now restarts again after a simulated reboot. (We accidentally left it
  • out when we added the new "Re-run these startup apps" feature).
  • Minor changes to the manual.

New in AlomWare Reset 4.00 (Oct 14, 2017)

  • Enhancements:
  • Actions now ask for confirmation before proceeding (but can be disabled).
  • The option to relaunch startup apps now has a selection window where you
  • can specifically choose which startup apps should try to be restarted (or ignored).
  • The window position of AlomWare Reset is now saved between launches.
  • Added more keywords to the (optional) warning before a simulated reboot.
  • Addition:
  • New "Expert mode" setting (disabled by default) where you can choose to get
  • a confirmation warning before simulating a reboot and other clicked actions.
  • The window now has a "System" area that show your RAM, system drive space,
  • and battery percentage (if present). Useful to monitor how your PC is performing.
  • The new "System" area also has a "Restart desktop" button, so you can kill
  • and restart the desktop for any given reason. For example, after changing a desktop
  • setting that normally requires a logoff/reboot to apply. (This button replaces the
  • "Process Killer" drop-down item named "(Desktop)" in v3.10.2 and earlier).
  • Removed:
  • The clipboard text as being part of a snapshot (due to user feedback).
  • Minor bug fix:
  • Shift+Ctrl+F4 will no longer kill AlomWare Reset.
  • The usual internal fixes and optimizations.
  • Minor changes to the manual.

New in AlomWare Reset 3.10.2 (Sep 17, 2017)

  • Change: Due to repeated requests, removed the message whenever a snapshot is created.
  • Other internal fixes and optimizations.
  • Minor changes to the manual.

New in AlomWare Reset 3.10.1 (Aug 20, 2017)

  • Some minor internal optimizations.
  • Minor changes to the manual.

New in AlomWare Reset 3.10 (Jun 7, 2017)

  • Major bug fix: Fixed memory code and thus dramatically reduced memory use when running.
  • Minor bug fix: The "About" window shows "AlomWare" after the copyright years again.
  • Addition: "AlomWare.com" menu item in the system tray icon, for visiting our website.
  • Minor change: Modified the system tray message when minimizing the main window, so that
  • each line of text isn't broken over two lines on Windows 10. Just a cosmetic thing. :)
  • Other internal fixes and optimizations.
  • Minor changes to the manual.

New in AlomWare Reset 3.09.1 (May 5, 2017)

  • Some internal changes for better closing of some apps.
  • Minor changes to the manual.

New in AlomWare Reset 3.09 (Apr 9, 2017)

  • Minor bug fix: The snapshot description was cropped on PCs with Large Fonts, but now fits.
  • Change: All real-time actions are now enabled by default for new installs, as we had too
  • many support emails asking why banning processes "wasn't working". Turns out they hadn't
  • enabled that option, so it's now on to prevent new users assuming the app is faulty. :(
  • Change: The process lists now require each process name to be on their own separate line.
  • This makes the lists easier to view and edit. Please remove the commas if you used them.
  • Enhancement: Added more keywords to the optional warning before a reset occurs.
  • Other important internal fixes and optimizations.
  • Minor corrections and changes to the manual.

New in AlomWare Reset 3.08.1 (Feb 28, 2017)

  • Major bug fix: Killing processes when running with admin rights now works in all situations.
  • Bug fix: App now always responds to its system tray icon after a reset or snapshot restoration.
  • Bug fix: Sometimes the app would crash unexpectedly due to a very hard-to-spot memory leak.
  • Minor bug fix: Snapshots are now deleted whenever the user logs off, reboots, or shuts down. This is because the information in the snapshot is obsolete and no longer relevant for use.
  • Minor bug fix: The app no longer hides its window when the Help manual is opened. This was needed in older versions when the desktop went gray before resetting, but isn't valid now.
  • Enhancement: Option to run as portable software (tab setting that can be ticked/unticked).
  • Enhancement: When any real-time features are enabled, the app now runs with a high process priority so that better responses are provided (such as when using Shift+Ctrl+Alt+Del).
  • Change: The option for "Shift+Ctrl+Alt+Del" is now enabled by default, because we had some new users asking why it "wasn't working" when testing the app. (They never enabled it).
  • Change: Removed the "freeze mouse" feature (which emulated the mouse being non-responsive like for a real reboot) because some users reported that it wasn't "unfreezing" for them.
  • Cosmetic change: Modified the "Snapshot" description to better explain what it's for.
  • Some users thought it would re-open closed windows that were snapshotted at the time.
  • Cosmetic change: Altered both green process boxes to light blue; it looks nicer.
  • Other important internal fixes and optimizations.
  • Minor corrections and changes to the manual.

New in AlomWare Reset 3.07 (Jan 22, 2017)

  • Bug fix: When selecting a new executable to launch after resetting, the previous exe in
  • the list was still launched by mistake. Now the new executable is launched as intended.
  • Major enhancement: When auto-running an executable after resetting (such as a game),
  • its process priority is now automatically set to high to provide faster performance.
  • Major enhancement: Full-screen games are now closed (or terminated) after a reset.
  • However, some might remain active until the end of the reset procedure. Not a bug.
  • Major enhancement: All user-started processes are now killed when resetting. Powerful!
  • Enhancement: When using the "Process Killer", the system tray icons are auto-refreshed.
  • Enhancement: Restoring a snapshot will now also restore the clipboard text at the time.
  • Enhancement: The "After reset" drop-down selection is now remembered between launches.
  • Cosmetic change: Very long window titles for reset warnings are truncated to look nicer.
  • Change: Removed the "always on top" setting of the app window (there's no need for it).
  • Change: Added a minimize icon to the app window, to allow that functionality.
  • The usual minor internal maintenance fixes and optimizations.
  • Minor corrections and changes to the manual.

New in AlomWare Reset 3.06 (Dec 28, 2016)

  • Enhancement:
  • More windows that appear busy are included in the (optional) reset warning.
  • Preventative fix:
  • Copying your license code now ignores spaces at the ends (if any).
  • The usual minor internal maintenance fixes and optimizations.
  • Minor corrections and changes to the manual.

New in AlomWare Reset 3.05 (Nov 27, 2016)

  • New feature: "Process Killer" for fast process termination without using the Task Manager.
  • This feature also has a catch-all "Browsers" selection to terminate the following browsers
  • and their related processes in one hit: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge,
  • Opera, and the Adobe Flash Player plug-in. Hung or frozen browsers are no longer a problem!
  • Addition: Microsoft Edge is now closed and/or killed with a reset.
  • Addition: More non-essential processes are now killed with a reset.
  • The usual maintenance fixes and optimizations.
  • Minor corrections and changes to the manual.

New in AlomWare Reset 3.04 (Oct 4, 2016)

  • Bug fix:
  • Prevented adding "?.exe" as a process name that can be killed.
  • Adding real-time processes now starts killing them immediately.
  • Addition:
  • The warning for busy apps now also shows the app's window title. Ctrl+Alt+F4 hotkey to bulk-kill multiple processes of the current app. For example, pressing it on Internet Explorer terminates all running IE processes. This is a handy way to quickly kill all open instances of a specific application.
  • The usual maintenance fixes and optimizations.
  • Minor corrections and changes to the manual.

New in AlomWare Reset 3.02 (Sep 5, 2016)
