New in Artoonix 1.3 (Jul 24, 2006)

  • Added object Distort and Warp transform functions. These are available from the "Deformation" command in the frame editor (can be simply accessed by pressing the button "D" or from both toolbar and contextual menu).
  • Distortion works by pulling the corner markers of the objects, while one can deform the objects by simply clicking the canvas on the desired spot and tugging it around. The resulting deformation is visualized in the wireframe preview.
  • We expect these functions will facilitate a number of improvements in making "fluid" movements in the animations.
  • The internal file structure has been modified to significantly reduce the file size (up to order of improvement, depending on the animation) and improve the speed. Older versions generated files are fully supported by the version 1.3. Note however, that if you modify the older animations in the version 1.3 it will automatically convert the modified part to the new format render it unreadable for the older versions. Should you for any reason want to revert to the older Artoonix version, please back up your project files before modifying them in the 1.3 version (simply copy the file to another directory). If you are planning to use the 1.3 version (recommended) we advise to convert the files to the new file format by running "Make copy of the project" command.
  • Significantly improved the quality of the transformed objects (rotation, scaling). This will be especially appreciated in animations where transformed objects have sharp edges .
  • Improved quality of the draft video preview
  • Transparent colours are now applied in a more "natural" way
  • Added "Duplicate" frame button in the frame editor window (thanks, BigFish for the suggestion!)
  • Updated help files
