AutoCAD Utility Design Changelog

What's new in AutoCAD Utility Design 2014

Apr 18, 2013
  • Data Exchange:
  • You can extract data from any Map 3D industry model into your design drawing, make changes and additions, and merge Utility Design features and updated Map 3D features back into the Map 3D Industry Model. For more information
  • Extract and Merge
  • Save and Share Configurations
  • Styling Workflow:
  • Feature class stylization has changed to be more consistent with AutoCAD stylization. All properties (with the exception of Hyperlink) in the General section of the AutoCAD Properties palette are included in the Utility Design style. The new Symbol Editor and Style Rules provide more powerful and flexible ways to configure stylizations.
  • Details and Callouts:
  • Details and callouts are now configured with their associated feature classes in the Industry Model Configuration dialog box. For more information, see About Details, Callouts, and Annotations.
  • After you set up details, you can specify a detail for each model using the Detail model attribute on the Models tab. Designers can use Home tabAnnotation panelInsert Detail to insert the configured details in either model space or paper space.
  • After you set up callouts, you can create Annotation rules that apply callouts to features based on attributes. Designers can use Home tabAnnotation panelInsert Callout to insert configured callouts in either model space or paper space.
  • Auto Validate and Auto Resolve:
  • The validation and resolution system has been enhanced. Two toggle buttons, Auto Validate and Auto Resolve, have been added to Home tabAnalysis panel. Auto Validate enables and disables the automatic validation of your design against validation rules as you work. Auto Resolve enables and disables the automatic resolution of validation errors in your design as you work.
  • Show Validations Ribbon Button:
  • The Show Validations toggle button has been added to Home tab -> Analysis panel. When Show Validations is enabled, an icon is displayed beside any feature with validation errors. You can select which type of validation errors to display in canvas by using the Filtering, Grouping, and Sorting control in the Validation Results panel. Double-click the icon to display more information and resolve or ignore each error just as you can using the Validation Results panel of the Dashboard. For more information on design validation
  • Future Service Line Layout:
  • Click Home tab -> Electric Underground -> Draw Future Service Line With Stub to draw a service line with a stub structure followed by a future service line and point for a house to be built in the future. The features drawn beyond the stub point have a status attribute value of Future. In addition, the conductor that passes through the new and future features has a status attribute value of Future. The features with status Future are not included in the Material List. There are three options for drawing the future service line beyond the stub: You can let the application draw the future service line and point, you can manually draw the future service line and point, or you can select an existing house corner and the application draws the future service line and point.
  • Intermediate Structure Added to Contain Service Points:
  • When you insert a service point or draw a service line with a service point, the application now automatically inserts an Intermediate Structure as the service point’s container. The intermediate structure is part of the structural network and connects to the segment. The service point is part of the electrical network and connects to the conductor. The intermediate structure represents the house, building, or other physical structure to which the service is actually connected. The intermediate structure is required for overhead engineering and leveling to be correct, particularly when elevation is applied to the design features.
  • Duct Sizing:
  • The model selection of ducts is now configured using Sizing rules for the Duct feature class and is enabled and disabled in the Validate and Resolve Settings dialog box. Click Home tab -> Analysis panel -> angle-arrow to open the Validate and Resolve Settings dialog box. Fill Ratio and Jam Ratio properties are now displayed as feature attributes of the duct on the Feature Info panel of the Dashboard.
  • Sweeps:
  • The model selection of sweeps is now configured using Sizing rules for the Sweep feature class. This enables you to customize and extend the logic.
  • Sag and Terrain Data:
  • If an Overhead network is designed on a base map which uses FDO or Civil terrain data, the minimum clearance between overhead wires and the ground are based on the terrain data.
  • Material List Configuration:
  • Configuration of Material Summation and Work Location have been moved from the Material Editor to Configuration tabMaterials panelConfigure Material List. In addition, you can configure templates to display materials in summation mode in the Material Editor.
  • Quick Info
  • Quick Info has been enhanced to support the selection of multiple features. Furthermore, Home tab -> Palettes panel -> Quick Info enables you to display feature information as a separate palette, independent of the Dashboard if you are using the Dashboard to display other information
