What's new in Axon Idea Processor 2013 R1.00 Beta

  • The main menu is simplified by removing the Align, Point, Text, Option main menus.
  • The main caption is simplified by removing the file path which can now be seen at the Statusbar.
  • The Toolbox is simplified and reduced from 40 to 32 buttons.
  • The TextTools combines all text-related tools into one common dialogbox. Additional tools include conversion to encoded/decoded HTML, ampersand code, removing empty lines and white spaces, sand many more.
  • Slideshow is now seamless and requires no preparation (like setting up of a slideshow index file) since every file can point to a next file.
  • The File|Next and File|Previous commands are eliminated and unified with the File|Back and File|Forward.
  • A "Drop Line" feature incrementally drop the next line (unlike the Droptext which drops all lines). A "Rise Slowly" feature moves an Object upwards.
  • The Visualizer is redesigned with tabs for 2D and 3D.
  • The speed of display in both 2D and 3D are improved.
  • The 3D Toolbox is slightly enlarged and easier to click.
  • The hatch style is now selectable from the Palette instead of Toolbox, hence more accessible.
  • The Analyzer displays more diagnostics to help you make better use of the Axon Idea Processor.
  • Some fonts and cursors are now larger and more visible.
  • The Analyzer no longer has a 32KB size limit.
  • Importing a folder - the previous limit of 150 files is extended to 200 files.
  • The number of Recent Files tracked is increased from 6 to 12.
  • The box Object has an improved look using color blending.
  • The Round Rectangle shape in 3D is now available.
  • Checklists can be quickly sorted using the Checklist context menu.
  • The list of Checklists also include the file size.
  • New Checklists: Attributes(Negative), Attributes(Positive), Crimes, Fairy Tales, Illnesses. There are now 95 Checklists in all.
  • Extended Checklists: Adjectives, Animals, Attitudes, Insects, Professions, Proverbs, Sounds, Transportation.

New in Axon Idea Processor 2012 R2.00 (Sep 6, 2012)

  • Improved Menu structure:
  • The menu structure is simplified and hence easier to use. The Level Menu (in the main menu) is removed and replaced by the Level Context Menu which opens from the Statusbar. The Zoom Menu (in the main menu) is removed, and some of its selections are moved to the View Menu.
  • The improved Toolbar:
  • A command line is added (see below). There are now only two default Toolbar Styles (Standard and Extended). The Sequencer and Visualizer buttons are fixed at each end of the Toolbar. New buttons are added for Repeat, Full Screen, and Help. The Toolbar Settings dialog box now maintain statistics of button usage.
  • The command line:
  • The command line provides a browser-like interface for search, navigation and other functions. The text Find/Replace functions/dialog boxes are replaced by the new command line feature. For example typing "axon" will do a search of all objects (including its text contents) for the occurance of "axon".
  • The improved Statusbar:
  • The Statusbar has more navigation buttons and requires less clicking due to auto closing of menus. The scroll and zoom controls are now placed together.
  • The improved Analyzer:
  • The main improvement is the use of formatted/colored richtext and the improved ease-of-use. The Analyzer is now more graphical and easy to understand.
  • The improved Visualizer:
  • The Visualizer is simplified by not showing the character counts (bar charts) and the picture at the bottom. The word count feature is transferred to the Analyzer. The Visualizer button is always present at the top of the Toolbar.
  • Other enhancements:
  • The Toolbox auto opens under appropriate situations.
  • The Generator has a speed control using a slider.
  • A global "Mute sound" option is available in the Preference.
  • The font size of the Class Object contents can be changed using Options|Entity.
  • A "Center At" menu option is available from the Background Context Menus.
  • When closing Textwindows, a prompt appears to ask whether to close one or all windows.
  • The File|Reload also refreshess/re-download any web-based pictures.
  • The Help file is reorganized to allow faster/easier access to its contents.
  • There are more pop-up messages to provide instant feedback on user operations.
  • All file times are now based on local time instead of GMT time previously.
  • The Zoom dialog box is redisigned for easier operation.
  • Pressing Esc will stop the 3D Timer (oscillation).
  • Pasting of hyperlinks includes ability to paste local files (e.g. file:///...).
  • The text shown inside the Class Object can have various font size.
  • A number of bugs are removed.

  • New features:
  • OpenGL is used for the 3-D View.
  • A panoramic FPS (first person shooter) interface.
  • Ability to rotate a view and look from various cardinal view points.
  • Both 2D and 3D views are maintained and switcheable.
  • A 3D Toolbox for navigation, object manipulation and timer control.
  • A 3D Object can be moved, rotated and scaled independent of its 2D position.
  • Links are shown in 3D and can be animated to show the flow direction.
  • 2D Shapes can be displayed in 3D.
  • A Timer is used to create animations.
  • Oscillation enables depths to be easily observed.
  • Display complex 3D (Picture) Objects using Wavefront(tm) files (.obj and .mtl).
  • 3D Objects can be linked or embedded.
  • 3D Objects can all rotate to "face me".
  • A 3D background (Picture in Sphere) can project a picture on the inner side of a rotating sphere.
  • Directional (i.e. diffused) light can be positioned at various locations, or made to rotate.
  • Ambient light of various colors can be set.
  • Fog effects can be set for realism.
  • Enhancements:
  • The Overview window is now removed.
  • Vertical and horizontal scrollbars are removed.
  • One Level always equate to 100 units in Z direction (not configurable).
  • The Statusbar is now toggled from the View menu (not in Preferences).
  • Clicking on an Object in the Sequencer will always center the Object (no customizable actions).
  • The Statusbar autoclose feature is removed.
  • The Palette can no longer be turned off.
  • Zoom|Pan is now removed.
  • Object|Same Position As is removed.
  • Status text line shows either mouse command or position (no other variations).
  • Preferences|Textwindows|"Open Textwindow if mouse over Obj" is removed.
  • Release 1.01 corrected some problems with "float divide by zero" and marking of links, as reported by Keith Gardner.
