Cloud Backup:
Add support for S3-compatible cloud providers that do not support chunk encoding transfers.
Add S3-compatible support for Synology C2 Storage.
Avoid potential restore issues that can occur with backups where skipped files are retried in some cases.
Improve handling of high load conditions for some S3-compatible providers (including NAS devices) that close connections unexpectedly.
Imaging Backup:
New (cbfsconnect) encryption driver version that fixes BSOD and other system issues seen in rare cases. These issues can only affect new imaging jobs where encryption is enabled.
Fix so that more than one granular recovery can be performed from imaging backups, using the same Integrated Restore Console session.
Fix to avoid possible metadata file corruption during new imaging backups.
Fix issue causing some VSS writers to be in a failed state “Inconsistent shadow copy” after backup.

Cyber Black Box captures vital forensics information in real time and includes them in the backups. Current and historical forensics are now available to investigators.
Password protection for the BackupAssist Console:
An extra layer of security.
Ensures only authorized users can run the software. Prevents malicious actors from changing backup configuration. Set up a password and password hint. Secure password reset is available via BackupAssist customer service.
S3-compatible destination for cloud backups:
More options, smaller storage costs.
Opens up more cloud storage options via public clouds providers like Wasabi and BackBlaze, and private cloud software packages like FreeNAS, MinIO, and Zenko CloudServer. Pick the right option to suit your security requirements, data handling / compliance needs, and budget. Full support for continuing incremental Cloud Backups after copying the container in full from one Cloud Backup destination to another (WebDAV is not supported).
CryptoSafeGuard enhancements:
Even better security against ransomware.
Detection: Improved whitelisting by filename. QuickBooks restore instructions files no longer trigger false positives.
Shielding: BackupAssist configuration and data files are shielded from corruption by ransomware and malicious change by hackers.

CryptoSafeGuard:
Reduced CPU and memory usage when running a CryptoSafeGuard manual scan.
Fixed a bug that can prevent granular restores from Data Container backups when CryptoSafeGuard is enabled.
CryptoSafeGuard will no longer abort a scan if it encounters certain illegal characters in the scan's path.
CryptoSafeGuard has been given further optimizations so that scans will run faster.
If the "Make network connections" step fails when performing a CryptoSafeGuard manual scan, we will now log a BA13 error and abort the scan.

Fixed an issue for environments where reminder notifications are enabled and backups run on Sundays, which caused repeated notifications to be sent during the repeated hour 2am-3am on the day that daylight savings ends. (GMC_BA-1375)
Restore Console:
Added an 'insufficient disk space' pop-up notification to Hyper-V Granular Restore.
User Interface:
Fix to prevent errors when doing the following on Windows Server Core installations:

CryptoSafeGuard
Due to limitations in Windows Server 2008 / 2008R2, this update will prevent CryptoSafeGuard from scanning inside of guests on Server 2008 / 2008R2 hosts, because when CryptoSafeGuard deletes a checkpoint, the .avhd checkpoint files are not removed until the guest is restarted. This could cause the host machine to eventually run out of disk space.
Fixed an issue that caused CryptoSafeGuard's potential infection dialog to display an error when it's first opened on Windows Server Core.
The CryptoSafeGuard detection SMS message has changed to "Ransomware detected on machine %COMPUTER_NAME%". An additional message (maximum of 30 characters) can be configured, which will be appended to the end of the standard SMS message to help identify the machine.
Updated CryptoSafeGuard to ensure that it is fully supported by MSP subscriptions.
If CryptoSafeGuard is disabled, all jobs will be automatically unblocked, if they are currently blocked due to a potential ransomware infection.
Increase the range of digits that can be used in the SMS number validation.
CryptoSafeGuard will now rename the temporary Hyper-V guest (VM) checkpoints so that they are easily identifiable.
CryptoSafeGuard will now delete any left-over Hyper-V guest (VM) checkpoints from previous scans.
Added ability for users to increase the timeout on creating temporary Hyper-V guest (VM) checkpoints during a CryptoSafeGuard scan.
Fixed backup error reporting for rare CryptoSafeGuard failures in some System Protection jobs.
If any unexpected errors occur during the CryptoSafeGuard backup protection step, they will now be reported as BA8007: "An unexpected error occurred during the CryptoSafeGuard protection step". Previously, these would be logged as unhandled exceptions in the backup report.
User Interface
Fixed an issue with the detection of some Window Server Core 2016 installs that caused issues with some UI features.
Reports/Notifications
BackupAssist will now report VSS applications that were not fully backed up to a cloud destination due to skipped files.

The Zip engine supports a new Flash drive destination for backing up to multiple, rotating flash drives.
In conjunction with the new Zip-to-Tape add-on you can now back up to tape drives from Vista, Server 2008 and SBS 2008 machines.
The Zip engine supports real-time, on-the-fly compression and encryption. No working directory is required.
Encryption is performed using 256 bit AES.

New BackupAssist Restore Console
The new BackupAssist restore console provides a convenient method for restoring files and folders from Zip, File Replication and Rsync backups. Access it through the Restore tab in BackupAssist.
Familiar Explorer style window for browsing the contents of backups.
Search function that can search all available backups for specific files, filtered by size, date and job name.
Ability to browse and search backups that are not currently attached to the BackupAssist machine.
Intelligent grouping of identical files, with access to previous versions backed up files.

The messages area of the console now provides a link to the latest version of BackupAssist, if the running version is out of date.
