CADRE Pro Changelog

What's new in CADRE Pro 6.5.1

Jun 1, 2012
  • Feature to allow calculation of multiple external load conditions in a single command.
  • Feature to provide for shock analysis modal combinations at the element internal load and stress level.
  • The load assembler feature is modified to allow creation of many combined load cases all at once.
  • Feature that provides default gravity constants to apply as needed.

New in CADRE Pro 6.5 (Jun 1, 2012)

  • The main changes for version 6.5 are to the dynamic loads methods. The functionally and access to the dynamic loads modules has been simplified and improved. They are accessed directly from the main window Results menu. Multiple dynamic loads files can be created with different settings during a single access to these dialogs. The modal data tables are significantly simplified and clarified.
  • The following items are significant changes made since version 6.4 and provided in builds 1 to 16. These are included and formally documented in version 6.5
  • Dynamic loads:
  • Added a feature for dynamic models that allows one to conduct structural response analysis to a single point periodic vibrating force. Minor modifications to the modal data and shock modules to clarify the meaning of the percent effective mass as applied to each mode, to all derived modes, and to all possible modes.
  • Loading methods:
  • Reconfigured the global loading dialog to resolve a frequent cause of confusion. The load file management buttons are now on a tab so there is no confusing of the merge file button with the merge load option on the other tabs.
  • Added a new model loading scheme for applying linearly varying loads to selected elements on the model. Useful for hydrostatic loading and for loading continuous beams with linearly varying loads. Provided the ability to import saved static load sets into dynamic models and saved mass sets into static models.
  • Editing and construction:
  • Provided features to quickly copy/cut/and paste loads from nodes to nodes. Extended the copy and paste provisions for loads to include mass for dynamic models.
  • Added an additional hide/show function for elements to "Show selected only".
  • The construction 'taper' feature was modified to allow it to work on selected nodes, or the whole model if nothing is selected.
  • Section properties:
  • Updated American steel and aluminum section property databases. Added certain American Light Gage Steel sections to the secion USA Steel database. The basic shapes module is revised to allow the input external radii in addition to the fillet radii for most shapes.
  • Output:
  • Added features under 'Results' to show abbreviated summaries of maximum and minimum loads or stresses by category (group name or property description). Added a feature under 'File/Results' to show a complete table of maximum and minimum loads or stresses by category (group name or property description) for all saved results file in a folder. Added the capability of applying loads normal to any defined plane facilitating the application of loads to framed structures in sloped roofs.

New in CADRE Pro 6.4 (Jun 1, 2012)

  • beam element’s can be given a ‘reference’ length so that when subdivided they retain the value of the length of the member in which the segment belongs. The reference length (if assigned) replaces the actual lengths (node-to-node) lengths in output. This is useful for extending the output data for calculations of compression limits for many different specifications.
  • an alternative load distribution method is provided for distributing loads over surfaces and beams. The current standard method (default) can put more or less load on nodes depending on the number of intersections at the node and is still the best method for well meshed surfaces. The new alternative(check the box “use compensation”), compensates for the number of intersections and evens out the load distribution.

New in CADRE Pro 6.3 (Jun 1, 2012)

  • beam division can be by global coordinate value rather than just by proportion.
  • new circular stress envelope can be used for circular tubes and bars to eliminate the overly conservative values that can result from using the rectangular envelope for these sections.
  • circular section is automatically detected with imported sections or older files.
  • element library is enhanced with better control of plate visibility with both opacity and edge line control.
  • element library copy/paste operation allows pasting of standard beam properties to pinned (or eccentric) beams without changing the pin (or offset) properties.
  • Section properties for American steel and aluminum and European steel have been expanded.
  • The beam joining feature has been refined with the addition of some user controllable adjustment parameters (Options/Settings/Beam tab)

New in CADRE Pro 6.2 (Jun 1, 2012)

  • the model loading features are improved so that loading is accomplished on both selected nodes or selected elements and in any mode of operation.
  • the boundary condition features are improved in a manner consistent with the loading features so that they are accomplished in any mode of operation and on selected nodes or selected elements (e.g. elastic foundations)
  • the elastic foundation features are now integrating into the mainstream boundary condition setting commands and no longer a special option.
  • element replicating feature added to allow replicating an element (or set of elements) at another node location.
  • the option for special cursors for the editing modes has been deleted.
  • the option to show compression as either positive or negative has been deleted. It shows as negative when displaying ‘internal’ axial loading.
