Updated the layout of all explorer templates.

Print List: Various enhancements to layout of generated report.

Report: Added a 'Prevent orphans' setting for groups. When this setting is activated, group headers that would appear at the bottom of a page without corresponding detail, will be moved to the top of the next page. Group footers that would print alone at the top of a page, will have the last detail of the prior page moved to the top of the page, followed by the group footer.
Report: Added an outline list in the 'Print Preview' window. This list shows the values of the first report group, and allows you to quickly go to a specific page.
Report: Printing to PDF creates smaller PDF files (better image compression).

You can now automatically organize external image files into a folder structure and filename format of your choice based on information in the database. To use this feature, choose 'Auto-Organize Image Files' from the Tools menu.
The folder and filename setup used by the 'Auto-Organize Image Files' function is also automatically used if you have chosen to link to external image files: When you download cover art/read cover art from audio file tags, when you paste an image into the image field/drag an image from the web browser, and when you use the 'Extract images' feature. To edit this setup, choose Tools=>Options=>Multimedia, then click the 'Images/Filename setup' button.
If CATraxx is unable to locate external image files because you have moved the files, you can use the new 'Locate Missing Image Files' function available on the Tools menu. This will scan the specified drive/folder and attempt to locate the missing image files.
Updated the 'Extract images', 'Load external images' and 'Cleanup image folder' functions to support the new features.
Data Entry: Image: When adding album image, the audio file folder is now automatically opened if audio files are linked to the album, and this folder contains at least one image file.
Data Entry: Image: Removed the two separate "Load Image" and "Link to Image" buttons. Instead there is now one button that will use the 'Store images in database/Link to image files" setting (you can now also right-click the image control to change this setting).
Data Entry: Image: Now possible to manually rename the external image file from the data entry window.
Data Entry: Image: Added Paste and Resize buttons below the field.
Data Entry: Image: Added a Center property (changeable from the Form Designer). When this is checked, the image is centered within the control (this is now the default behavior).

Database Maintenance: Added a 'Update Title Sort' function. This is useful if you have

You can now hide the Box Set, Loan View, Want List View, Playlist View and Playlist Track View entries on the View menu, in the view bar, and on the toolbar by deactivating these tables in the 'Database Setup' window.
Log files now automatically deleted after 30 days.
Total Value: If multiple albums are selected in the Album View, only these albums will be included in the calculation.
Statistics: Added support for GDI+ which provides better anti-aliasing (edge smoothing) based on ClearType technology.
Export: Added a 'Open file' button in all export windows. This will open the last file you exported data to.
HTML Export: Index based setup: The name of the entry selected in the left pane is now displayed at the top of the list page.
HTML Export: Index based setup: The height of the top pane is now automatically increased when specifying an export title.

Audio Player: Added support for Last.fm scrobbling. Scrobbling a song means that when you listen to it, the name of the song is sent to Last.fm and added to your music profile. The first time you open the player it will ask if you want to enable scrobbling. You can also turn this on/off in the 'Options' window (File=>Options).
Audio: Tag: Write: Added support for id3 v2.4 tags, in addition to v2.3. Version 2.4 is now the default format, and is necessary to write to the Album Sort, Track Sort, and Artist Sort tags. (You can switch back to the v2.3 format in the 'Audio File Options' window.)
Manual Query: Discogs: Updated to the new v2.0 API.
Manual Query: Discogs: An album cover thumbnail is now displayed in the preview pane below the search result list.
Manual Query: Improved the order of the search result based on the specified artist/title (best matches displayed first).
Card layout: You can now change the border color, and deselect the highlighting of the selected record.

Dual monitor setup: If CATraxx is run on secondary monitor, all windows you open now appear on this monitor. In addition, if CATraxx was closed when placed on secondary monitor, it will appear on this monitor the next time you start it.
Added a new color selector with more predefined colors. This includes a "color picker" you can use to pick up a color already visible on the screen, for example from another report object.
Audio Player: Updated the field layout in the explorer pane.
Audio Player: The explorer pane now uses the default explorer font.
Audio Player: The playlist now uses the default system font (Segoe UI on Win 7/Vista, Tahoma on XP) by default.

You can now specify the Amazon site to go to when you select "Buy from Amazon" (from the Sites menu, the Want list, or the explorer). Choose Tools=>Options=>Internet to select site.

Audio: Bitrate for APE and FLAC files now calculated the same way as in version 8.
Audio: Tag: Write: The album title is now written to the album title tag by default. If you would like to write the disc title instead, select the 'Disc Title' template in the 'Customize Tag Write' window.
Audio: Drag to player: Fixed some issues with dragging tracks to the audio player (both the CATraxx Audio Player, and any 3rd party player). By default, you must hold down the Alt key to able to drag to the player. If you want this to be the default drag operation, check the "Default drag to audio player" option in the 'Audio File Options' window. Note that if this option is checked you must hold down Alt to drag tracks to the 'Manual Playlists' window, or to drag tracks from one playlist to another.
Exported M3U playlists no longer saved with UTF-8 encoding by default (incompatible with some players, eg. Windows Media Player). To enable this, check the "Save M3U playlist as UTF-8" option in the 'Audio File Options' window (should only be necessary if the audio file names contain Unicode characters).
You can now drag box sets from the Box Set View to the 'Manual Playlists' window.
You can drag box sets from the Box Set View, and tracks from the Playlist View and the Playlist Track View, to the audio player.

Windows Vista / Windows 7:

Unicode:
CATraxx now supports Unicode. Unicode is an international standard for representing multilingual text. It defines a very large character set that includes characters from most of the world's languages as well as many mathematical and technical symbols.

By default there are three setups: Soundtracks (all soundtracks - the audio files will be saved in a separate folder named !Soundtracks), Compilations (all compilations - the audio files will be saved in a separate folder named !Compilations) and General (the rest of the albums). You can create as many setups as you like, for example one for "Various Artists" albums, one for bootlegs, one for multi-disc albums, etc. Screenshot.
Audio: Auto-Organize: You can choose to include a part of the folder/filename pattern only if a data field actually contains a value (that is, is not empty). To do this, simply enclose the part in curly brackets. For example, the default folder format uses this setup: "\%album_artist_sort%{[%album.released_year%] }%album_title%". The release year is enclosed in square brackets, but these are only included if the release year is actually specified (if not, we would have ended up with [] if the Released field was empty).
Audio: Auto-Organize: To limit the number of characters to use, you can now specify the maximum number of characters after the field code, enclosed in parentheses. For example "%album_title(50)%" to only use the first 50 characters of the album title.
Audio: Attach Audio Files: The 'Auto-Organize' window is now automatically opened after the new audio files have been attached. From this window you can automatically organize the newly attached audio files into a folder structure and filename format of your choice.
Audio: Attach Audio Files: This is now faster, and will successfully attach more files to albums (both when attaching files to the database, as well to a single album). In addition, it now better handles albums where you only have some of the songs as audio files.
Audio: Attach Audio Files: Track length is now read from the audio files (if the Length field is empty).

Reset button to reset the menu to show the default sites.
As long as you don't manually edit the Report menu, the program will now
automatically scan the Reports folder and dynamically add all reports to
the menu. This means that you don't have to manually add the report to
the menu when you create a new report (just make sure you save it in the
appropriate folder in the Reports folder). In the 'Edit Report Menu' you can
now click the Reset button to reset the menu (rescan the Reports folder).
As long as you don't manually edit the Search menu, the program will now
automatically scan the Search folder and dynamically add all saved searches
to the menu. This means that you don't have to manually add the search to
the menu (just make sure you save it in the Search folder). In the
'Edit Search Menu' you can now click the Reset button to reset the menu
(rescan the Search folder).
Data Server: Added a GotoRecord method. Call this method to select a
record in the browse list. The correct view is automatically activated.

Audio: Auto Organize: You can now use the Position field ("%position%") in the filename format. The track position combines Item, Side and Index. For example: "4" (track #4), "B2" (track 2 on side B), "2-1" (track #1 on item #2) or "2-B1" (track #1 on side B on item #2). Item and Side are not included if the album has only one item or one side.
Audio: Tag: Write: Added a new option that will combine composers and lyricists, and write all data to the composer tag.
You can search and group on the artist genre field from the Album and Track View.
Grid: You can now globally disable alternate row coloring (Tools->Options->Miscellaneous->'Disable alternate row coloring').

Explorer: The home page now shows the "pick of the day" (a new album is selected each day).
Explorer: Audio: The home page now shows number of plays grouped by artist, track and album - both for the last 30 days and all time. NOTE: If you upgrade from an older version you need to update your Index.xsl template. For more information, see the FAQ.
Explorer: The play history list is now sorted in descending order (newest date first).
Audio Player: You can now select your favorite playlists directly from the toolbar.
Audio: Scan Folder: Improved error handling when adding scanned files.
Audio: The Last Modified field is now updated when attaching/detaching audio files.
Capitalization: The program will now take the words in the "exceptions" list ("a", "it", "the", etc.) into account when it capitalizes text as you type.
Capitalization: New setting: "Only capitalize words in lower case". When this is selected, words containing at least one letter in upper case are not capitalized.
Data Entry: Image: When removing a link to an external image file you now have the option to also delete the image file.

Audio: Attach: In the 'Attach Audio Files' window you can now specify whether the program should attach audio files to all albums, marked albums (the subset), or the selected albums in the Album View. This is useful, for example, if you have an album on both CD and LP, but only want to attach the audio files to the CD.
Audio: Attach: There is a new 'Exclude folders already in database' option. When this is checked, the program will simply skip all folders that contain audio files already linked to the database. This can greatly speed up the scan process.
Audio: Auto-Organize: Instead of selecting whether to process all albums/tracks, the subset, or the selection directly from the menu, you now select this in the 'Audio-Organize Audio Files' window.
Audio: Auto-Organize: You can now use only the year part of a date field by adding "_year" after the field name. For example "%album.released_year%".
Audio: Auto-Organize: If the album contains more than 9 discs, two digits are now automatically used for the %disc#% field.
Audio: Auto-Organize: The file date is no longer modified by default. If you still want the program to set the file date when renaming files, open the 'Audio File Options' window, click the Misc tab and check the 'Modify file date when renaming file' box.
Audio: Read from Tag: There is a new 'Compare dates' setting in the (new) 'Read from Tag' window that will instruct the program to compare the file date against the Tag Read field, and only read data from the tag if the audio file has been modified since you last read the tag. In addition, you now specify whether to update all, marked, or selected albums/tracks in this window instead of from the menu.
