  • New feature is added to perform Random Vibrarion Analysis in CAEPIPE. This feature is available for Piping Code = NONE. Refer to the Section titled "Random Vibration" in CAEPIPE Technical Reference Manual as well as in CAEPIPE User's Manual for further details.

  • New feature is added to find the section property from the first occurance of the succeeding elements or from the first occurance of the preceeding elements when the Flange Library dialog is not able to get section property from the current element to obtain the Flange Weight.
  • Support Load Summary results will show the displacements results for all types of supports.
  • Shape Factor input field in Wind dialog is applicable only for "Velocity vs Elevation". Hence, Shape Factor input field is disabled in the Wind dialog when the option "Pressure vs Elevation" is selected.
  • New feature is added to Enable or Disable Dynamic Zoom in Graphics Window while using mouse scroll button for Zoom. This option can be modified through CAEPIPE Main Frame > Preferences > Disable Dynamic Zoom.
  • New feature is added for translating and rotating the graphics in Graphics Window using a mouse. In Translation mode (Pan), use Mouse Middle Button Down and Drag in Horizontal or Vertical direction for Horizontal or Vertical Translations. Similarly, in Rotation mode (Turn), use Mouse Middle Button Down and Drag in Horizontal or Vertical direction for Rotation in Horizontal or Vertical plane.
  • New feature is added for transforming Limit Stop loads from Local Coordinate System (LCS) to Global Coordinate System (GCS). Refer to the Section titled "Support Loads" under Results Window in CAEPIPE User's Manual for further details.
  • MBF format is updated to be compatible with CAEPIPE Version 12.20. See Appendix A of CAEPIPE User's Manual for details.
  • CAEPIPE User's Manual, Technical Reference Manual, Code Compliance Manual and Verification Manual have been enhanced and updated to be in line with software version 12.20. These Manuals can be downloaded from the link www.sstusa.com/caepipe-docs.php.
  • Bug Correction: Auto-refinement of Branches was adding a small element at Branch SIF locations when it is a Skewed line upon every model save.
  • Bug Correction: Responding to "Save changes" dialog was not performing any action when the command "Analyze" was selected without saving the model.
  • Bug Correction: For Piping Code = NONE, in von Mises stress computation, CAEPIPE was using the In-plane and Out-of-plane SIFs corresponding to the "From" Node for the "To" Node also. This bug exists from CAEPIPE Versions 5.10 through 12.10. This bug would affect results only when the NONE code is selected and two different values for "User SIF" are entered for the two ends of a component.

  • CAEPIPE will now use the current cursor position as the centre point of zoom when a model is zoomed dynamically using mouse scroll button.

  • A new column in Material property is added to input Yield Strength (Sy) for piping code EN 13480-3. When input, CAEPIPE will use this Yield Strength (Sy) to compute allowable stress for Buried Piping as per EN 13480-6 (2017).
  • New feature is added to obtain Direction of Wind through the Current Element (CE) in the layout. For example, Wind direction normal to a skewed line can be obtained using "Shear y" or "Shear z" option.
  • It is now possible to edit ASCE/SEI or EN 1991-1-4 Wind data through Wind Dialog. This can be done by selecting the wind code from the Wind Dialog.
  • New feature is added to Export and Import FRP Material properties through MBF file.
  • Flange Equivalent Pressure calculation inside CAEPIPE (Flange Report in CAEPIPE Results) in accordance with Eq. 6.6.1-2 of EN 13480-3 (2020) is now updated to exclude Axial force when it is Compressive (-ve). In addition, a new field is added to input the Bolt Circle Diameter of Flange required in computing the Flange Equivalent Pressure.
  • Analysis option "Include friction in Dynamic analysis" is turned ON by default.
  • Hydrotest Stress evaluation is now added for ASME B31.1 (2022) and ASME NM.1 (2020). This Hydrotest Stress evaluation can be seen through CAEPIPE Results Window > Results > Results... > Sorted Stresses and CAEPIPE Results Window > Results > Results... > Code Compliance.

  • Bug Correction: Refine Branch / Auto Refine Branch command was NOT splitting the element when both nodes of the element are Branch Points with the end node of the element is defined with Branch SIF.
  • Bug Correction: When a model is defined with Limit Stops and Friction, then the total vertical load obtained by adding vertical loads from Sustained load case of all supports is not matching against the total weight of the system. This issue was happening at Random and not true for all models with Limit Stops and friction defined.
  • Bug Correction: Reducing the number of thermal loads from 3 to 2 without turning off the load cases corresponding to T3 and P3 was issuing Assertion failure.
  • Bug Correction: Flange Report was using the pressure input at P3 while computing the Flange Equivalent Pressure for Operating 4 through Operating 10 load cases.

New in Caepipe 11.02 (Feb 3, 2023)

  • Bug Correction: For Piping code = EN13941-1, Interpolation to determine Kq and Kc which are used to compute Transverse (Lateral) soil stiffness in Soil restraints is incorrectly performed.
  • Bug Correction: Sutained Stress component in Sustained + Expansion Stress equation (Equation 11) is computed higher than the actual Sustained Stress for ASME Class 2 (2015, 2017 & 2021) and ASME Class 3 (2017 & 2021). This bug exists only in CAEPIPE Versions 11.00 and 11.01.

New in Caepipe 11.01 (Dec 30, 2022)

  • New feature is added to Refine Branches only when the Branch Point is defined with Branch SIF.
  • New feature is added to Find and Replace "User SIF".
  • Bug Correction: Occasional Stresses are not computed properly for Multi-level Response Spectrum analysis with the option "Include missing mass correction" is turned ON.
  • Bug Correction: List dialog showing "Spectrum Levels" when no spectrum defined.

New in Caepipe 11.00 (Dec 2, 2022)

  • New feature is added to Export and Import direction cosines via mbf for Limit Stops with "Connected to" node defined. Refer to section titled "Limit Stop" in CAEPIPE Technical Reference Manual for details.
  • New feature is added to Import AFT Impulse Time function data into CAEPIPE Time functions. This feature can be accessed through CAEPIPE Layout Window > Misc... > Time Functions > File > Import AFT Time Function. In addition, stress layout from CAEPIPE can be exported to AFT Impulse via PCF file through CAEPIPE Layout window > File > Export to PCF.
  • New field "Tensile" (Tensile Strength) is added in Material Input as well as in Material Library for the applicable ASME B31.x codes. Accordingly, Material Library Export and Import features have been enhanced. Refer to Sections titled "Material" in CAEPIPE Technical Reference Manual and Sections titled "Import Material Library" and "Export Material Library" in CAEPIPE User's Manual for details.
  • For Piping code = ASME B31.1 (2020), as per Note 2 of para. 102.3.5 (b)(1), for materials with a minimum tensile strength of over 70 ksi (480 MPa), eqs. (1A) and (1B) are now calculated using Sc and Sh values no greater than 20 ksi (140 MPa). Compliance to this criterion is checked using the value entered under Tensile Strength field of CAEPIPE Material property input. Refer to Piping Code Compliance section of CAEPIPE Code Compliance Manual for further details.
  • New feature is added to "Refine Branches" automatically while saving the model when the Piping code selected for Analysis is ASME B31.1 (2020) / ASME B31.3 (2020) / ASME B31.9 (2020) / EN 13941-1 (2019). Refer to Section titled "Refine Branches" in CAEPIPE User's Manual.
  • Allowable pressure calculation for Bends have been revised for EN 13480-3 (2020). Refer to Piping Code Compliance section of CAEPIPE Code Compliance Manual for details.
  • New feature is added to validate the Reducer Input while saving the model when the Piping code selected for Analysis is EN 13941-1 (2019)
  • Bending Moments at each element's ends due to Wind load are now included in stress analysis. Hence, results for Wind loads computed for old CAEPIPE version models using this new version may differ from their earlier results.
  • Missing mass correction is now included for Multi-level Response Spectrum Analysis. Refer to CAEPIPE Technical Reference Manual for details.
  • In CAEPIPE Versions 10.50 and 10.51, Generic support was considered as an Anchor (by ignoring non-diagonal terms, i.e., coupling terms) while computing the influence matrix for multi-level response spectrum analysis. Starting Version 11.00, non-diagonal terms for Generic Support are also considered while computing the influence matrix.
  • New feature is added to show the maximum and minimum stress in the legend independent of their corresponding stress ratios in stress contour plot.
  • Number of Time Steps in forcing function is increased from 9999 to 99999 for Time History Analysis.
  • New feature is added to display the Local Coordinate System (LCS) for Limit Stops in Graphical Screen while in Limit Stop loads results (as it is shown for Guides).
  • CAEPIPE can now import neutral files generated from CAESAR II versions up to and including 12.00.

New in Caepipe 10.51 (Feb 8, 2022)

  • Bug Correction: For Piping code = EN 13480-3 (2020), Branch Pipe thickness (eb or eb,c) was used instead of Run Pipe thickness (en or ec) for un-corroded or corroded section while calculating the Section modulus for Branch as per Note k of Table H.3 of EN 13480-3 (2020). This, in turn, decreased the Branch Section modulus for branch pipe thinner than the run pipe. This reduced Branch Section modulus increased the branch stresses at Branch node. This bug exists in CAEPIPE Versions 10.40 and 10.50.
  • Bug Correction: Deflected shape of Bend, Mitre Bend and Jacket Bend not transferred properly to 3D Plant Design system when exported through Results Frame > File > Export to 3D Plant Design.
  • Bug Correction: Access violation while exporting the Jacketed Piping stress layout with Flange(s) located on Jacket Pipe or Jacket Bend to 3D Plant Design system through Layout Window > File > Export to 3D Plant Design.
  • Bug Correction: Importing MBF file with a large number of Anchors with Specified Displacements defined in Global Coordinate System (GCS) was randomly setting the Displacement type to Local Coordinate System (LCS) at a few Anchors.

New in Caepipe 10.50 (Jan 21, 2022)

  • o Canadian Piping code CSA Z662 is updated to CSA Z662 (2019). Refer to the Piping Code Compliance Section titled CSA Z662 (2019) in CAEPIPE Code Compliance Manual for details.
  • New feature is added to perform Multi-level Response Spectrum Analysis in CAEPIPE. Refer to CAEPIPE Technical Reference Manual for details.
  • Seismic Displacements at Anchors and Nozzles can be input for all Piping Codes. When input, CAEPIPE solves it as a separate internal load case, the results of which are then added absolutely to static seismic and response spectrum load case results.
  • Option to select Facing Sketch 1(c) or 1(d) as per ASME Section VIII Division 1 - Appendix 2 is now included in the Flange Qualification module. This module can be launched through Main Frame > New > Flange Qualification or Main Frame > Open > Flange Qualification files (*.flg).
  • Flange Equivalent Pressure calculation inside CAEPIPE (Flange Report in CAEPIPE Results) is now performed in accordance with Eq. 6.6.1-2 of EN 13480-3 (2020) when the Piping Code selected for Analysis is EN13480/BS 806/IGEM/Norwegian/RCC-M/CODETI/Stoomwezen/Swedish. For all other Piping Codes, Flange Equivalent Pressure is calculated in accordance with NC-3658.1 of ASME Section III Class 2 (2017). Refer to the section titled "Flange" in CAEPIPE Technical Reference Manual for details.
  • "Check bends" command available through Layout Window > Misc is updated to issue a warning message when the Bend Angle < 5 deg for Bends, Mitres and Jbends.
  • "Copy" command available through "Layout Window > Edit" can now remember elements copied for multiple paste by turning ON the option "Remember for multiple paste". Refer to the section titled "Copy" in CAEPIPE User's Manual for details.
  • "Paste" command available through "Layout Window > Edit" can now paste a group of elements including their data in the middle of a layout. Refer to the section titled "Paste" in CAEPIPE User's Manual for details.
  • CAEPIPE User's Manual, Technical Reference Manual, Code Compliance Manual and Verification Manual have been enhanced and updated to be in line with software version 10.50. Verification and Validation of Multi-level Response Spectrum Analysis by CAEPIPE have been performed against the USNRC Benchmark problems.   • Bug Correction: Wind code is exported as "NONE" instead of "0" when Wind profile is exported to MBF file. Hence, while importing the MBF file back, CAEPIPE was issuing an error message.

  • Allowable nozzle loads calculation for nozzles to spherical and cylindrical shells as per European code EN 13445-3: 2009 is updated to EN 13445-3:2014/A8:2019. Refer to Section titled "Nozzle Evaluation" in CAEPIPE Technical Reference Manual and CAEPIPE Code Compliance Manual for details.
  • Improved Modal analysis algorithm for Eigenvalue (frequency) extraction. With this improvement, CAEPIPE can now extract much higher modes (Eigen vectors).
  • New feature is added to turn some wind loads ON and the remaining wind loads OFF for a portion of piping. This can be done by entering "Y(es)" or leaving it "Blank" respectively through Layout Window > Misc > Loads/Beam Loads > Wind Load 1/Wind Load 2/Wind Load 3/Wind Load 4.
  • New feature is added for the user to specify either the “Ground Level” or the “Depth of soil above pipe centre line" while modeling soil in Buried piping so that CAEPIPE will automatically calculate the soil stiffnesses in three directions internally at all buried piping nodes.

Valve Accelerations can be seen through Results Frame > Results > Accelerations > Mouse right click > Show Valve Accelerations. The same can be printed by selecting the option "Accelerations" from the print dialog.
  • New feature is added to show Pipe NS/Pipe OD in Flange List and Flange Report. This will be useful for editing flange data and post-processing of flange report.
  • "Connected Node" data is now output in TXT and CSV files for Skewed Restraint.
  • Setting the environmental variable "EXPORT_INCHES" to "YES" will now export and import moment units in “lb-in” via MBF in addition to exporting and importing length units in "inches" via MBF.

  • Bug correction: For Anchors defined using Global Stiffnesses and Local Displacements, the Support loads were not calculated properly. This bug exists in CAEPIPE Versions 6.70 through 7.70.
  • Bug correction: Specified Displacements for T3 through T10 were not printed in TXT and CSV file output. In addition, Specified Displacements for Seismic and Settlement cases were not printed properly in TXT and CSV file output.

  • Following piping codes are updated. Refer Annexure-A of ReadMeSupplement_v660.pdf for more details.
  • New feature added to Copy and Paste rows (with Element (from Layout), Material, Section and Load properties). This can be performed through Edit->Copy and Edit->Paste or Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V. Copy and Paste command in 6.60 will also allow to copy multiple rows of layout. This can be performed through Layout Frame->Edit->Copy command. Multiple rows of Copy and Paste is valid only for Layout and NOT for Materials, Loads and Sections. Readme needs to be modified to include this point.
  • New feature added to define Forces and Moments as part of Sustained Load / Expansion Load (T1) using Force Dialog. Force and Moments can also be added to Expansion (T2) and Expansion (T3) in addition to W+P and (T1).

  • Bug Correction: Access Violation occurred while importing CAESAR II Version 5.1 Neutral file into CAEPIPE.
  • Material Library Correction: In 2007 and 2010 versions of B31.1 material library, material type for CrMo materials (A335) was incorrectly set to AS instead of CS. This does not alter the pressure calculations results in 2007 edition of the code as the W (weld strength reduction factor) was introduced only in 2010. Reanalyze your models by re-importing the material from the supplied [updated] B311-2010.mat ONLY if they use A335 at high temperatures (> 800 deg. F).

New in Caepipe 6.40 (May 30, 2012)

  • Following piping codes are updated. Please see Annexure A from Readme_Supplement for details.
  • New piping code B31.9 (2004) for Building Services Piping added.
  • Upto version 6.30, CAEPIPE always reported the frequencies that were below the cut-off frequency. Starting version 6.40, CAEPIPE will always report frequencies upto the number of modes specified by the user or upto the first frequency above the cut-off frequency.
  • Material properties of B31.4 and B31.5 are updated in accordance with B31.4 (2009) and B31.5 (2006). The new material libraries are named as B314-2009.mat and B315-2006.mat respectively.
  • Default Insulation density for Calcium Silicate in CAEPIPE is modified to 15 lb./ft3 from 11 lb./ft3.
  • New feature to export the 3D piping model to CADMATIC as structural components (only graphics without attributes). This can be performed through File ->Export to 3D Plant Design from inside the Layout window.
  • In Hanger/User Hanger dialog, the field "Hanger above" is replaced with "Hanger below". This should be used to specify a Hanger connected below the pipe. Graphical symbol changes accordingly.
  • Bug Correction: Settlement was calculated (for applicable piping codes) even when the Settlement load case was not active.
  • Bug Correction: Loads on Guides in Local Coordinates were not output correctly when printed to a text file.
  • Bug Correction: Spring Rate for Rod Hanger was not displayed/printed properly in Hanger report when the Analysis option "Solve Thermal Case" was selected.
  • Bug Correction: Merge model command did not change the layout window.

  • Piping code EN 13480 updated to EN 13480 (2009). We observed that the Piping design equations, Flexibility Factors and SIFs have not changed since last EN 13480 (2002) code.
  • New feature added to Renumber the nodes automatically while inserting a new row or deleting an existing row. User can turn ON / OFF this feature through CAEPIPE Main Frame -> File -> Preferences->Automatic renumber of nodes.
  • New Feature added to check the layout before save. Issues warning message when it finds errors in layout.
  • Improved convergence routine for Slip and Hinge joints with specified displacements for Anchors.
  • Bug Correction: Scaling of stress values in Graphics window was not plotted properly for Sorted FRP stresses.
