  • The following bugs have been fixed:
  • Fixed two errors that could occur after editing a step title.
  • Clarify would sometimes crash on Windows when spell checking a document.
  • Clarify would crash on macOS High Sierra when using the color dialog.
  • Typing in a step title field would sometimes lag.
  • Moving the mouse outside of the Clarify window while dragging a canvas resize handle, stopping mouse movement, and releasing the mouse button would cause the canvas to revert to the original size the next time you moved the mouse over the canvas resize handle.

  • Features:
  • Support for the WordPress JSON REST API. On WordPress 4.7 and above the JSON REST API is installed. This API is much more reliable than the XML-RPC API and Clarify will try to use it if available.   • Clarify has full unicode support for filenames.
  • Added preference to specify what Clarify should do when it starts up.
  • Clarify now detects image density settings when pasting images from the clipboard or importing image files.
  • Added a "Copy images at full resolution" preference. If checked then images are copied to the clipboard using all available image data.
  • Added [[DD/MM/YYYY]] to the list of available variables in PDF templates.
  • Added support for inline code blocks to the Markdown HTML exporter.
  • Added support for site licenses.
  • Changes:
  • Dropbox support has been removed. As of September 1, 2017 Dropbox no longer renders HTML content from a Dropbox account. Clarify made use of this feature.
  • You can no longer create a free clarify-it.com account in Clarify. The clarify-it.com platform is being retired and we are not allowing new accounts to be created.
  • Modifying drag operations on Windows is now done with the CONTROL key. Previously the ALT key was used which was not keeping with the Windows standard.
  • On Windows PHP has been updated to version 5.6.31.
  • Cyrillic characters are now converted to an ASCII equivalent when generating filenames.
  • Updated US, British, Spanish, French, and German dictionaries on Windows.
  • Sequence annotations with different numbers but the same font and font size will now always be drawn with the same radius.
  • Added an additional check to ensure that an anchor name that is entered is unique to the document.
  • When adding a step to a document via drag and drop or pasting the anchor will be set to empty if it conflicts with an existing anchor in the document.
  • If Clarify cannot detect the available WordPress API by inspecting the HTML of the website then a blank WordPress sharing account is created.
  • Document tags are now inserted as Keywords in the PDF document when exporting to PDF.
  • Clarify now saves documents to a temporary file and then moves the file to the final location. If anything goes wrong while saving, the existing file will not be overwritten with bad data.
  • The Substep title color swatch was 1 pixel too far to the right in the PDF template editor.
  • Support for F12-F16 has been added for screen capture hot keys.
  • When exporting images an improved resizing algorithm is used.
  • Bug Fixes:
  • While resizing an image canvas using the handles the mouse would sometimes get stuck in resizing mode even after the mouse button was released.
  • If all Clarify windows were closed on macOS then an empty line would appear in the Window menu.
  • If closing the last document window on macOS displayed a modal dialog then the document window menu would remain in the menu bar after closing the dialog and window. Making certain selections from this menu would cause an error.
  • Clarify was not always performing the correct action at launch.
  • It was possible to trigger other actions during a File > Save action via shortcuts. This could lead to odd errors.
  • The footer defined in a sharing account was not being sent to the DOCX template when exporting to Word.
  • Fixed an issue with the File menu becoming corrupted in certain circumstances.
  • Fixed an error that would happen when uploading a document with a unicode character in the filename to WordPress.
  • HTML export would fail if the current username had accented characters in it.
  • Logos in PDF templates would not work if the current username had accented characters in it.
  • HTML templates would not load property if the current username had accented characters in it.
  • Fixed a divide by 0 error in the image annotation contextual menu.

  • Fixed a potential error in the "Set List Starting At" dialog.
  • Fixed an error that would occur if you tried to undo an annotation change in a step that wasn't visible in the navigation tree.
  • The Find window would only appear in the first Space it was opened in. [macOS]
  • The "Ignore Case" checkbox in the Find dialog was really just ignoring what you selected.
  • A document would not be marked as dirty if the only change to text was a change in case.
  • The email subject was coming through as HTML rather than UTF-8 when creating emails.
  • Spell check would makr the wrong range of characters if a smart quote of any kind preceded the misspelled word.
  • Format > Outdent was not enabled when the cursor was a line that was a list item and indented.
  • Fixed scaling of Sequence, Rectangle, Text, and Line annotations when outputting high resolution images.
  • Text annotations with right-aligned text would sometimes have the left side of the text clipped when exporting.
  • Fixed an error that could occur when trying to determine location of the text insertion point relative to the current line.
  • Fixed an error that could occur when finishing an annotation creation event and the annotation no longer exists.
  • If the Find window was open then screen capture would not work.
  • It was possible for the image tool to take over an annotation so that an image would always be selected even when another tool was active.
  • Words that had been learned in the dictionary were not being added to the spell checker properly when starting up Clarify.
  • Updating an existing Evernote connection with a new OAuth key would complain that an Evernote account already existed.
  • When adding an image file to a document it was possible to create a conflict between the new image and an existing annotation. This conflict would result in an execution error.
  • The default PDF style CSS document was not targeting tables properly.
  • An error about an invalid text selection could occur when performing a spell check.

  • Changes:
  • Creating new clarify-it.com accounts automatically sets the account to use an SSL connection.
  • Updated the links to manuals so that they point to the new version 1 help docs location.
  • Fixes:
  • Pasting text that was center aligned would maintain the alignment and there was no way to change it. Since Clarify does not support text alignment in paragraph text the alignment is now removed when pasting.
  • When trying to open a Clarify 2 document the user is alerted that the file was created with a newer version of Clarify.
  • Fixed an error reporting bug in the Evernote library.
  • Evernote Business notebooks that have been deleted but which are still linked to a user's account no longer cause an error.

  • Fixes:
  • When changing the spelling of a word the color of the word was not being maintained. though no error occurred.
  • Fixed an issue that could occur when closing document windows.
  • NULL characters are stripped from the registration key field now. Copying from Outlook would include a NULL character at the end.
  • If you clicked on the capture rect and then tried to use the arrow keys to nudge the capture area, the distance moved would be incorrect.
  • Clicking on a word in the spell check suggested word list would insert gibberish.
  • When changing the spelling of a unicode word the text selection after updating the word would not be correct.

  • An error dialog would appear when cutting or copying annotations even though no error occurred.
  • Clicking the capture rectangle to drag it would center the rectangle around the click location. The rectangle now maintains position relative to where you click.

  • Relayering annotations would not save the change to the document.

  • Fixed PDF export bug related to quotes in the subject.

  • Changes:
  • Document images are now stored in the Clarify user data folder rather than a system temporary directory. Some disk cleaning applications would wipe out the images causing them to be lost when saving the document.
  • Added some additional error reporting when preparing a document for export.
  • Fixes:
  • Made some changes to ensure a valid value in Dropbox export folder name.
  • Long step titles would cause errors on Windows due to temporary image file paths being too long.
  • When switching Evernote accounts the list of notebooks was not being cleared out.

  • The dirty display was not being updated after a find and replace operation.
  • Find and Replace could enter an endless loop and would cause a crash.
  • Fixed some errors in the web safe filename routine.
  • Fixed an error that could occur while previewing a PDF template and switching windows.

  • Features:
  • New Evernote integration! You can now select the notebook to create the note in and update the note. The Clarify source file is stored with the note as well so updates are always quick and easy.
  • Any team member can update a Clarify document on clarify-it.com. Clarify now recognizes if a document has been uploaded to a clarify-it.com account, even if you weren't the one who originally uploaded it.
  • Fixes:
  • Fix for Eastern European language input.
  • When undoing a step reorder the steps would not always be put back in their proper positions.

  • Dragging a step to top of navigator list would generate an error.
  • Dragging a step from one document into an empty document would not work. A document had to have at least one step to accept a drop from another document.
  • Setting the list style to none using the Format menu would cause an error.
  • The Find dialog was being initialized with gibberish text.
  • Pasted text was not always being formatted properly [regression].

  • You can now use [[File_Name]] in the footer text of a PDF template. The name of the PDF file will be inserted when exported.
  • In PDF and Dropbox output code blocks now have a smaller font, have more intelligent line breaking and have a border/background.

  • Determing whether or not the preference screen should be scrolled on smaller monitors was not working properly.

  • Copying a step to the clipboard now places the step image with annotations on the clipboard rather than the entire step as RTF text.
  • Step contextual menus now have option to copy step to clipboard as RTF.
  • Default button in Register dialog is now "Register". Enter/return keys now behave properly as well.
  • Typing after using the arrow keys in a field now triggers a new undo entry.
  • Improved error reporting when subdomain, username or password is incorrect in Clarify-it.com settings.

  • Brand new look for PDF output.
  • Added "Rounded Corners" as a border option for images.

  • Clarify now detects when JPEG images are added to a step and assigns JPEG > Best as the export format.
  • On Windows the font menu now displays up to 20 fonts at a time in the menu.
  • Windows installer changed so that admin privileges are no longer required.
  • Clarify now runs in portable mode if the preference file is placed alongside the application.
  • Default extension for JPEG format is now jpg rather than jpeg.

  • Fixes:
  • Fixed positioning of "attach to email message" action menu.
  • When undoing deletion of a step the "id" is no longer added to the step object in the document object. This unexpected property was causing problems when duplicating steps.
  • Using the contextual menu for left column or document view would not paste the clipboard image when creating a new step from clipboard when not clicking on a step.
  • Pasting an image with annotations would generate an error.
  • When editing text in a text annotation the text would always be changed to white. Not a great idea if the background color is white.
  • When pasting text into a step instruction field there was a slight visual hiccup while the field was resized.
  • Null characters could slip into step instructions. They are now stripped when saving contents.
  • Edit > Paste was not being disabled when no document window was open.
  • The distance between the error message and the data entry fields in the Clarify-it.com setup window was not being set properly.
  • Text annotations would not render their drop shadow when first created or adjusting height/width.
  • Duplicating steps now adds an undo entry.
