  • Window geometry and font size are now remembered across sessions.

New in ClipBeast 0.6.0 Beta (Jan 16, 2012)

  • New Features:
  • Captured items are now automatically removed from ClipBeast after a certain period of time. Default is 48 hours, but the user can change this using a control in the lower toolbar.
  • A proper Windows HTML Help file is now included, it can be opened with the 'Help' button in the upper toolbar.
  • Captured text items are now individually highlighted (with a light grey shade) when hovered with the mouse cursor.
  • Captured text items can now be right-clicked to put them back on the Windows clipboard. Items get a light green background to confirm that they were copied to the clipboard.
  • ClipBeast can be installed as a portable application (e.g. on a USB stick).
  • Improvements:
  • The import command has been removed to keep ClipBeast as simple as possible. (If you have some text to import, just copy it to the clipboard...)
  • Newly captured items now appear on top.
  • ClipBeast is now packaged with JGsoft's DeployMaster, for easier installation. The installer now has a user selectable option that allows for portable installations.
  • Bug Fixes:
  • The CTRL-A keyboard shortcut (Select All) works again.

New in ClipBeast 0.5.0 Beta (Nov 16, 2010)

  • New Features:
  • ClipBeast now automatically saves and restores across program runs: text content, font size, "stay on top" status, and window size and position.
  • Improvements:
  • The load and save commands have been renamed to import and export. This is more consistent with the automatic saving of the content.
  • Bug Fixes:
  • ClipBeast no longer stops getting clipboard content after the import or export commands have been used.

New in ClipBeast 0.4.0 Beta (Nov 12, 2010)

  • New Features:

  • All tooltips have been removed to keep the interface extremely simple.
  • Bug Fixes:
  • Several small fixes related to text import behavior.

New in ClipBeast 0.3.2 Beta (Feb 22, 2010)

  • Improvements:
  • ClipBeast now accepts Unicode text, as far as the Courier font (or on Windows Vista and Windows 7: the Consolas font) is able to display the characters. In future versions of ClipBeast, you will be able to select your own fonts.
  • Clipboard capturing is now significantly faster. On average, it should now take only 250 milliseconds before new text items on the clipboard are displayed in ClipBeast.
  • Bug Fixes:
  • ClipBeast now no longer tries to import non-textual items from the ClipBoard.

New in ClipBeast 0.3.1 Beta (Feb 8, 2010)

  • Improvements:
  • Better hover colors for buttons.
  • Application icon is now grayscale until we have a real proper icon and logo.
  • The right-click menu has been removed.
  • Bug Fixes:
  • Ctrl-X cuts the selected text to the clipboard, but it is no longer then copied back to ClipBeast.

New in ClipBeast 0.3.0 Beta (Feb 8, 2010)

  • New Features:
  • A bottom toolbar was added for interface related functions. (Content manipulation functionality will go to top menu bar.)
  • The text font can be made smaller or larger or set to default with three unobtrusive buttons in the bottom toolbar. Font size can vary between 6px and 36px.
  • Improvements:
  • New (experimental) interface colors. The application icon hasn't been adapted yet.
  • The text area now has a very thin grey border when the application has keyboard focus.
  • The application is getting tooltips, starting with the 3 new font size buttons. The tooltips are deliberately made relatively slow (700 ms) to avoid annoyance.
  • When ClipBeast is started on Windows Vista or Windows 7, the text font is set to 'Consolas' instead of 'Courier'.
