New in CommonCents 3.3.72.159 (May 5, 2010)

  • Graphing and Improved Reports - We added the ability to generate customizable pie and bar graphs so you can visualize your financial data. We’ve also greatly enhanced the text-based reports. Here’s a list of the new graphs you can produce:
  • · Asset Graph
  • · Average Expenses Graph
  • · Envelope Balance Graph
  • · Goal Progress Graph
  • · Income Allocation Graph
  • · Income/Expense Graph
  • · Income/Expense Trend Graph
  • · Liability Graph
  • · Spending Analysis Graph
  • · Total Expenses Graph
  • Goal Setting/Tracking:
  • Now you can set and track your financial goals for accounts and envelopes. CommonCents can even tell you what you need to do to reach your goals by your target date. Your goal progress can also be easily graphed and printed.
  • Reminders and Notifications:
  • You can now set reminders for activities and events so you can stay ahead of your financial obligations and activities. CommonCents can also notify you when your scheduled income sources or memorized transactions are automatically entered.
  • Enhanced Importing:
  • We’ve significantly improved the importing process and can better match transactions that were already imported or manually entered.
  • Exporting:
  • We believe the data you put into CommonCents is your data to do with as you choose. So now you can export your data into several popular formats such as CSV, TXT, and QFX.
  • Archiving:
  • In addition to being able to backup/restore your data, you can now archive old transactions so your data files are easy to manage. Should you need them in the future, restoring archived data can be done in a few simple steps.
  • Sort by Column in the Registers and Windows:
  • Now you can sort transactions in your registers by just clicking on the column headers. This isn’t limited to just the registers or the sections of the main screen. You can do this in almost every window in this release of CommonCents.
  • Tagging:
  • You can now add “tags” to each transaction or to each line item in a split transaction. This allows you to better track those deposits and expenses that are of particular importance to you.
  • Multiple Document Attachment:
  • Sometimes you need to attach several documents to a single transaction. With 3.0, we’ve added that capability and it is easily done with a few simple clicks.
  • Automated Transaction Triggers:
  • For power users of CommonCents who want to automate their finances, we’ve implemented a Trigger Manager that can run a sequence of scheduled or memorized transactions according to “triggers” that you define.

New in CommonCents 2.3.31.145 (Mar 5, 2009)

  • More Security and Reliability:
  • Enhanced data encryption. All of your financial data is stored in encrypted files and can be further protected with a private password so only you or those you authorize can access your data.
  • CommonCents supports storing your data locally or remotely on a network storage device so you can access it from wherever you choose.
  • A Backup and Recovery Manager is now embedded within CommonCents so you aren’t relying on another product to safeguard your data. No more starting all over to rebuild your financial files. You can easily back up your data and rest peacefully at night knowing that another copy exists should you ever need it.
  • Should you ever encounter a problem, the new Log Manager keeps track of error messages to help us quickly identify and resolve any issues.
  • More Control:
  • The new Options Manager enables you to select how CommonCents auto-assigns envelopes for specific payees, when the system checks for updates, and the format for how dates are displayed. It also allows you to select from an expanded list of different currencies and the format in which they display.
  • In the Budget Editor, we’ve added the ability to allocate your income by percentages or fixed amounts—and it still does all the math for you!
  • We’ve improved the scheduling options for recurring income and expenses, to provide increased flexibility and control. Enhancements include the ability to enter a budget allocation or expense “on-demand” and to schedule on a semimonthly basis. With all of the scheduling options now available, CommonCents works even better with your time frame.
  • More Speed:
  • Importing data downloaded from your financial institution is now even faster and more accurate. In the Import Manager, we’ve added a step that lets you view, edit, and assign all inbound transactions before posting them to the account register. This, combined with the improved ability to map payees to budget envelopes, has the potential to save you a lot of time and keystrokes.
  • The new Payee Manager enables you to easily edit, remove, and map payees.
  • A new set of “hot keys” for data entry has been implemented so your fingers don’t have to leave the keyboard.
  • Transfers can now be made directly from the account register by selecting the account or envelope name from within the transaction drop down list. Recording the payment for your credit card bill from your checking account is now easier than ever.
