ContactKeeper Changelog

What's new in ContactKeeper 1.5.0

Nov 14, 2011
  • You can now export your database to a CSV file. This type of file can be imported into another program.
  • It is now possible to scroll in the list with the arrow up and arrow down keys, while the cursor is in the "Quick search" field.
  • The function "E-mail..." in the menu "Database" is removed. That function could be used to e-mail the current database, using the default e-mail client.
  • ContactKeeper will open Windows Explorer with the current database selected when you click on the status bar at the bottom of ContactKeeper. This is done to help you make a back-up of the database file.
  • A text file with the contents of your database file will be generated each time you close your database. This text file is stored in the same directory as your database file. You can disable this option in the menu "Options" -> "Save".

New in ContactKeeper 1.4.3 (Oct 20, 2009)

  • Bug fixed. When you searched in the quick search for the letter "p" you also got names with the combinantion "th" in the result list.
  • When you uninstall ContactKeeper, the file association of .mdb files is no longer removed.
  • At request, added a pink color scheme for the calendar.
  • Tamil language file added.
  • Bug fixed. The birthday calendar caused an error when february 29th was the last day in the database.

New in ContactKeeper 1.4.2 (Jan 22, 2009)

  • Urdu language file added.
  • The quick search function is now accents-insensitive. For example if you type "Jose" or "Josè" it will also find "José".

New in ContactKeeper 1.4.1 (Sep 26, 2008)

  • The Portuguese (Brazilian) language file is updated.
  • The buttons in the windows "Export" and "E-mail" now have icons and Tooltiptext added for the visual impaired users.
  • The Indonesian language file is updated.

New in ContactKeeper 1.4.0 (Jan 9, 2008)

  • When exporting to (x)html, multiple space-characters got shown as one space-character, this is now fixed.
  • If you copy your database via the menu "Database" -> "Copy...", then the new name will automatically be based on the old name followed by the date.
  • The field "First name" and "Last name" is now merged together to one field called "Name". This as a solution for the many people who asked for a way to store address information from companies, also people asked for a field "Middle name", what is used in some countries. From now on, there is only one field "Name", so you have the freedom to choice for yourself in what format you wish to store names. Your database will automatically be converted when you open it for the first time in ContactKeeper 1.4.0, but before the conversion, ContactKeeper will take a copy of your database in the folder of the database under the name "_BeforeVersion140.mdb". You can use this copy if you want to use an older version of ContactKeeper again.
  • Under Windows XP, you will notice that ContactKeeper now uses the XP lay-out for certain parts.
  • The Search-window remembers what was last selected from the drop-down "Contains", "Begins with",...
  • The "Quick Search" function now works on a different way. If you type in "Doe" for example, then it will show every person that contains "Doe" in the name. If you search on "John Doe", then all persons with "John" and with "Doe" in the name will be shown. Also, the order of the name is not important, if the person is stored as "Doe John" and you search on "John Doe" then it will show that person as well. The "Quick Search" field gets emptied when you click on it, so that it is always ready for a new search.
  • The numbers in the status bar now have a different meaning, the first number is how many persons are shown, the second number shows how many persons are in the database in total. For example "45/150" means that there are 150 persons in the database but that there are only 45 persons shown as the result of a search.

New in ContactKeeper 1.3.4 (Aug 15, 2007)

  • I made a small improvement to the tab-sequence of the window "Add" and "Edit".
  • The installation-setup now works under Windows Vista without showing error-messages.

  • The German language file is updated.
  • The filename of the database is now shown in the title bar and also the program version, for example if a database is opened you will see "Private.mdb - ContactKeeper 1.3.1", if no database is opened then you will just see "ContactKeeper 1.3.1" in the title bar.
  • The Slovak language file is updated.
  • The file type .mdb now gets associated with ContactKeeper, but only if it is not already associated to another program like Microsoft Access. This means that you can start ContactKeeper by clicking the database file in Explorer, the icon of the database file will also be the ContactKeeper icon.
  • Some info from the About-window is now shown on the Main-window too when no person is selected. Also the About-window has changed a little.
  • The new function "E-mail" allows you to select multiple persons in ContactKeeper to compose an e-mail message too. It starts the default mail client, but you have also the possibility to copy the list with e-mail addresses to the clipboard to paste in a webmail-application for example.
  • Bug fixed. A run-time error occurred when starting ContactKeeper 1.3.0 for the first time with a Windows-account with restricted access.
