DFX WinTweaks Changelog

What's new in DFX WinTweaks 3.6.1

Dec 13, 2023
  • Disable/Enable Driver Updates has been changed to Disable/Enable Automatic Driver Updates to make it more understandable.
  • When disabling Automatic Driver Updates, the confirmation window now includes this "Optional Driver Updates will still work".
  • Disabling/Enabling Automatic Driver Updates will now add an extra registry key that is known to work on older builds of Windows 10 to maximize compatibility, and don't worry, depending on your Windows install, it will ignore one key or another.
  • The updater now has its own banner, called DFX WT - Update.

New in DFX WinTweaks 3.6.0 (Dec 12, 2023)

  • What's new in this release:
  • Presets has been disabled for now to avoid issues and OS corruption.
  • All menus now have an horizontal layout. (However, this will not apply to WAST: Shutdown Settings and when a menu has 3 options or less)
  • The Enable/Disable all system bandwith in Performance Tweaks menus has been changed to Enable/Disable full system bandwith
  • The hardcoded loading time to load and unload WAST: Shutdown Settings has been removed and its banner will no longer be separate from the menu. (Updated to 1.5)
  • The Use Windows 11 default desktop icon spacing option in the Customization menu has been removed because it was just a bug in early builds of Windows 11 22H2 when installed from scratch. Post an issue if you want this back
  • Added an option to Disable/Enable driver updates on Windows Update Settings
  • Fixed some typos.
  • This version also includes the new major version number scheme, going from 3.6 to 3.6.0 (this will apply to newer versions as well)

New in DFX WinTweaks 3.5.2 (Oct 31, 2023)

  • Returning to the menu from Customization settings will no longer crash, as well as going to the equivalent Restore menu.
  • The "Back to menu" and "Back to previous menu" from the Customization settings were leftovers from an older version and have been updated to "Return to menu" and "Return to previous menu", respectively.

New in DFX WinTweaks 3.3.4 LTS (Oct 26, 2023)

  • The updater from the Standard release has been backported to LTS, but it will download the newest Standard version.
  • On start, the manual Restore Point message has been moved to the pre-UAC screen an now lasts 2 seconds instead of 5, this has been backported too.

New in DFX WinTweaks 3.5.1 (Oct 16, 2023)

  • The updater will now jump straight to the Start Menu if the latest version is already running.

New in DFX WinTweaks 3.5 (Oct 16, 2023)

  • What's new:
  • On start, the manual Restore Point message has been moved to the pre-UAC screen an now lasts 2 seconds instead of 5.
  • And... the best piece of the cake, DFX WinTweaks now will tell you if there's a new version (only if you have internet) and it will open the browser to download that version automatically, the non-browser updater isn't built into the script yet (i'm working on it).

New in DFX WinTweaks 3.4.4 (Sep 25, 2023)

  • What's new:
  • DFX WinTweaks 3.4.4:
  • The Restore Point warning pop-up is no longer a window, now it just appears as text in the CLI during 5 seconds.
  • DFX WinTweaks 3.3.3:
  • I felt ESR (Extended Support Release) wasn't a good naming scheme, so I renamed it to LTS (Long Term Support), and don't worry, the support window will remain the same.
  • The Restore Point warning pop-up is no longer a window, now it just appears as text in the CLI during 5 seconds. (Same as WT 3.4.4)

New in DFX WinTweaks 3.4.3 (Sep 19, 2023)

  • WAST Shutdown settings has been updated to version 1.5, including 2 new options:
  • Disable Hyper-V and reboot
  • Enable Hyper-V and reboot
  • These new options are mostly meant for people who usually get their hands dirty with VMs (Virtual Machines), just to have a quick way to disable Hyper-V.

New in DFX WinTweaks 3.4.2 (Sep 7, 2023)

  • Using any option from the WAST shutdown settings or safe mode settings will no longer fail if Windows is installed in a location other than the C: drive.

  • Experimental Tweaks is now available (Standard), and it features two new options to Disable/Enable CPU Core Parking.

  • Presets Beta are now available for Windows 10 and later, and will continue to grow in options learning from the community feedback.

New in DFX WinTweaks 3.2 (Jul 20, 2023)

  • Standard and NT6 editions are now unified, meaning that both editions will use the same version number.
  • Because DFX WinTweaks cannot detect Windows Vista accurately and it's not supported, a new pop-up window will ask the user to give confirmation (on NT6) and verify if Vista is the current OS or not. This feature relies on the user sincerity, lying and using almost every option on Vista will break the system completely if you lie, please have at least a Restore point or a Windows Vista installation disk.
  • Solved an issue that would prevent users to access to DFX WinTweaks Web in seLogonMenu
  • When typing a wrong or non-existent option number, Only numbers are allowed. message has been replaced with This option does not exist.

This option is only recommended for new installs or clean installs, because Windows Store stopped allowing downloads since January 10, 2023.
