Winpilot Changelog

What's new in Winpilot 2024.5.7

May 8, 2024
  • Here's a small but crucial update that further optimizes ad blocking in Windows 11. I'm aiming to make this feature more dynamic, akin to a browser ad blocker

New in Winpilot 2024.5.6 (May 7, 2024)

  • Winpilots and Clippy (NeoClippy) have shifted their focus towards even stricter debloating and disabling of undesired Microsoft features aligning with the approach found in the Windows 11 OOBE. Any features not enabled during the initial setup can be adjusted later in Winpilots' setup area.
  • The Workspace offers four different startup options (see screenshot)
  • Support for the Tiny11Builder has also been added as a pilot function. It is a partial GUI for the well-known PowerShell script by NTDEV, With Winpilots' NeoClippy, you can easily download, mount, and prepare Tiny11.iso images. Feel free to give it a try. Please note, though, this is just a test version. Since it's not an official Microsoft build, I can't offer support for its use. Therefore, use of the script is at your own risk. However, it can serve the purpose of testing and evaluation.
  • Some bugs in the interpretation of links in the Clippy bubble have been fixed.
  • License information has been updated, especially regarding Clippy. Even though Clippy is long gone, we still need to respect the rights associated with it, so you'll see a small copyright notice beneath @microsoft Clippy's search bar. Word on the street is that Melinda Gates may have been the driving force behind Clippy and a few other Microsoft characters. So, big thanks to her for that. With that said, cheers for bringing me into the world, Clippy!

New in Winpilot 2024.5.5 (May 3, 2024)

  • Seems like we're all getting tired and annoyed by the new advertising on the Windows 11 UI, right? That's why Winpilot is introducing a new feature/plugin called Adblock for Windows. It focuses solely on removing ads from the Windows 11 UI. Special thanks to elevenforum for the inspiration!

New in Winpilot 2024.5.4 (Apr 30, 2024)

  • An error has been fixed that could have resulted in some settings not loading in the setup
  • An error has been fixed that led to the incorrect detection of the status of the Setup > Privacy Option 'Privacy Settings Experience at sign-in'
  • A bug in the 'Assisted Debloat' function has been fixed, which previously did not allow apps to be removed as non-administrator. In Administrator mode, however, they were not displayed at all
  • The Home Screen/Workspace has been improved and occasionally shows hints about newly introduced Microsoft features that generally worsen the user experience, such as advertising in the Start menu
  • The Clippy asset from this ClippyGPT version is now also the new icon for Winpilot. Credits go to @FireCube
  • The navigation menu displays descriptions of the menus when hovering the mouse over them
  • Some internal functions of the old Bloatynosy app have been revamped and reintroduced in a modified form into Winpilot
  • The light and dark modes have been slightly revised
  • Minor UI improvements and fixes

New in Winpilot 2024.5.2 Preview (Apr 26, 2024)

  • Preview to Winpilot and SuperClippy

New in Winpilot 2024.5.1 Preview (Apr 26, 2024)

  • Here's a sneak peek at a potential new UI for Winpilot. I've split the layout into two sections: On the left, we have SuperClippy, and on the right, the Winpilot Workspace. This setup makes working with the interface more efficient and productive. We can send actions to Clippy on the left while simultaneously working with individual system plugins on the right. Feel free to share your thoughts and feedback on the new UI.

New in Winpilot 2024.4.10 (Apr 25, 2024)

  • Extensive code refactoring has eliminated remnants of classic Bloatynosy/AI and old "AI" functions.
  • A new link Join the code has been added to the UI where you're welcome to contribute to improving the project, whether it's enhancing the web core and UI with Javascript/html, css or the C# backend.
  • Also, take note of the extensive optimizations made in yesterday's release 2024.4.7 and the adjustment of the versioning scheme.

New in Winpilot 2024.4.7 (Apr 23, 2024)

  • The privacy, system, and gaming plugin "CoTweaker" now automatically detects the configured system settings. Custom settings only need to be toggled on/off with the ToggleSwitch. Modified settings are logged in the Clippy Bubble
  • The CoTweaker plugin now offers enhanced support for gaming handhelds like the Lenovo Legion GO and Rog Ally
  • The UI has been refreshed once again to better align with the design language of Windows 11. For example, the containers are now flat, with the Back button placed in the upper left corner and the Next button in the lower one
  • The versioning schema has been changed from Semantic (SemVer) to a date-based versioning (CalVer) scheme. This is to better indicate the number of releases in a month. `The format is as follows: Year, Month, and Incremental Version: YYYY.MM.MINOR Example: 2024.4.7 (for the seventh release in April 2024)
  • The current view or even the entire app can be refreshed with a single press of the ESC key on the keyboard, handy when you're, say, in the Copilot view
  • With the upcoming release, I've made some big changes. I've cleaned out a lot of the old clutter and separated out many of those smart "AI" functions from the code. This means the community can now easily join in and contribute to the project. There were quite a few unnecessary features and pilot functions still hanging around in the code, and it took longer than expected to tidy things up. So the project will be completely open-source like Bloatynosy/AI

New in Winpilot 3.6.0 (Apr 19, 2024)

  • The old WinModder extension from Bloatynosy is coming back in a tougher version. I've decided to name this Winpilot plugin PimpApp (again). Maybe some of you still remember the name. Back in the day, about a year before Windows 11 dropped, back in late 2020, I released my first app based on the Net Ecosystem under this name, stirring up some serious debate among the user base. Some hated the name, others vibed with it - you know how it goes. PimpApp used to tweak and slim down systems with pre-made community templates. And now, I'm gifting that same functionality to Winpilot. Think of it as extensions offering advanced debloating. Originally, this menu should have been called WinModder, but for my own anniversary, I'm having a little fun and letting it run under PimpApp (Extensions). It's now a menu item in Winpilot! Everything else about Winpilot and its name stays unchanged, though.
  • I had to allow myself the fun and then Google it afterwards. Believe it or not, It turns out, that PimpApp still exists in the archives on Deskmodder. What can I say,I was young and broke, just like Elon and Bill
  • I've reoptimized all scripts/extensions for the PimpApp Plugin in Winpilot. Here's a quick rundown of the RestoreInboxApps script, handy for those times when you've uninstalled too much and want to go back.

New in Winpilot 3.5.2 (Apr 18, 2024)

  • Refreshed Clippy and Winpilot's user interface
  • Optimized the web core
  • Improved update search functionality
  • Fixed numerous minor internal bug fixes

New in Winpilot 3.5.1 (Apr 15, 2024)

  • Added an option to disable Microsoft's latest brainchild of bombarding our Start menu with app ads: Show recommendations for tips, app promotions, and more (only Beta channel)
  • Added Microsoft's Agent aka Clippy a facelift and some upgrades such as the ability to bring Clippit to the forefront with a simple click on "Clippy" itself
  • Introduced a new Agent character, "Lover Clippy", who aims to calm us down and spread love whenever Microsoft drops some "improvements" - read: either more ads or AI nonsense - that nobody asked for
  • Several app debloating mechanisms have been optimized

New in Winpilot 3.5.0 (Apr 12, 2024)

  • Winpilot now takes no autonomous actions and leaves nothing to chance. Especially, the debloater "Decrapify" will now only assist, and the bloatware database will be "statically/community" maintained.
  • UI has been significantly refreshed under the current codename Stargate. You can either use the step-by-step assistant or switch between plugins via the "Pilot" button.
  • Deeper integration of Clippy into Winpilot, which now observes every step and reports status.
  • The Copilotless plugin has been integrated into CoTweaker. You can now directly search for, disable, or re-enable Microsoft Copilot/AI features from there.
  • The Debloating Plugin "Decrapify" now offers a bulletin board declaring "Bloatware for deletion" as recommended. These include numerous inbox apps from Microsoft and all other sponsored and pre-installed apps from various OEMs.
  • Numerous bug fixes #178 #160 #181 #183 #184 #186 Thanks @LyndonGingerich

New in Winpilot 3.4.0 (Apr 10, 2024)

  • The Assist me feature down in the bottom right corner just got a major upgrade, now rolling with the code name Stargate. This handy helper walks you through customizing and debloating your Windows 10/11 system in just 4 simple steps. Additionally, the Stargate Assist has been optimized for debloating Legion GO and RogAlly devices.

New in Winpilot 3.3.0 (Mar 29, 2024)

  • Introducing the new Assist Me button, which guides through the individual plugins, describes their functions, and demonstrates them in action. This feature aims to support Bloatynosy switchers.
  • Revised, more modern, and above all, even smarter AI like "Starter Prompt"
  • Enhanced, shorter, and more memorable naming of skills, tasks, and actions
  • You can remove the placeholder app 'Microsoft Windows AI Copilot Provider' that was rolled out with the Edge 123 update (Switch to the Decrapify plugin, simply press CTRL + F to activate search or jump to letter M, select the app, and press 'Remove selected'.)
  • Settings in CoTweaker (a plugin for privacy, system, and gaming) apply their settings directly via the toggle status. Simply toggle on or off to make changes. It is recommended to use the "Detect current settings" button beforehand to check your Windows setup.
  • CoTweaker restores the very latest Bloatynosy settings, such as removing the "Fax Printer" or "XPS Writers."
  • Enhanced compatibility with Chris Titus's tool and other plugins
  • The Clippy character is becoming more mischievous and cheeky 😸
  • Numerous minor bug fixes

New in Winpilot 3.2.5 (Mar 27, 2024)

  • The Clippy character is becoming more mischievous and cheeky ??
  • Numerous minor bug fixes.

New in Winpilot 3.2.0 (Mar 24, 2024)

  • Back to Basics:
  • Revamped Menu Navigation for Enhanced Overview of Core Features (Check out the intro clip for a sneak peek). The main menus are structured similarly to Bloatynosy, with a primary focus on Privacy, Gaming, System, and Debloating functions for quick access.
  • The Decrapify plugin has been enhanced with a highly intelligent Bloatware search, and the button for automatic search is now labeled AI-Driven Search. Please note that these features may bring surprises, but in the first step, nothing will be removed, only the detected items will be displayed. In addition to the auto-search/removal, you can still manually mark and remove bloatware as before.
  • Improved Windows 10 Support

New in Winpilot 3.1.0 (Mar 21, 2024)

  • Deepening integration of the debloating plugin "Decrapify" into Winpilot for improved functionality.
  • Optimized DPI scaling and improved UI responsiveness.
  • Added new skills such as removing the new Outlook app for all users and switching to the classic Mail and Calendar app. To achieve this function, all it takes is a chatbox query for 'outlook'.
  • UI has been jazzed up a bit with a logo in the header and a temporary subheader 'Bloatynosy.'
  • Numerous internal code enhancements.

New in Winpilot 3.0.5 (Mar 18, 2024)

  • The CoTweaker plugin is leveling up and bringing back almost all the old Bloatynosy privacy and system settings in a sleek, optimized form. I've taken note of your feedback #145 There's a lot more coming in the future
  • For a better understanding for the old Bloatynosy users: The "CoTweaker" plugin basically replaces the core functionality of Bloatynosy, and the "Decrapify" plugin replaces its debloater. On top of that, you'll get continuous help and tips from Clippy, who also manages command processing. Some old Bloatynosy settings can be translated directly through the "AI" chatbox for quick adjustments, like taskbar alignment or widget deactivation, etc.
  • UI optimized. Search field is located in the bottom area. Clippy occasionally changes his character and appearance
  • Bloatware search optimized for the Decrapifiy plugin
  • Prepared first steps for localizations
  • The app update search has now been enabled
  • Support for external scripts optimized. A search query for "plugin" will yield results for the supported external scripts

New in Winpilot 3.0.0 (Mar 14, 2024)

  • Winpilot will pick up where Bloatynosy left off. The plan was originally just to rename the AI version, but this time we'll do it right and completely turn our backs on Bloatynosy. I've been playing around with a few names over the past few weeks, which are now making their way into Winpilot as plugins, such as CoTweaker and ClippySupreme, which also doubles as the main assistant in the Winpilot app designed as a chatbot. I might also introduce some classic Bloatynosy functions natively as "plugins". Otherwise, the new Winpilot app is largely based on a hybrid web basis.
  • I had already made the decision to rename Bloatynosy months ago. Even from the professional environment, I received frequent requests to give this app a decent name so that it could be used in the business field without any awkwardness. Additionally, I was often reminded by people in my personal circle to do so.
  • Here are the individual plugins briefly explained:
  • CoTweaker: It enhances Windows privacy settings and optimizes system and gaming configurations.
  • Decrapify: It removes unwanted apps and also handles advanced debloating.
  • WingetUI: It offers some essential base apps for download. Additionally, I recommend checking out the excellent full version of WingetUI by marticliment.
  • Copilotless: It searches for AI/Copilot features in Windows and allows you to remove them. Please follow the instructions provided.
  • ClippySupreme: This is the assistant you'll consistently see in the app, monitoring various areas of the system. It can also provide simple tips. Just keep clicking on the plugin to access them.
  • This version has been completely rebuilt internally and brings dozens of improvements under the hood, which are not detailed in a changelog.

New in Winpilot 2.3 (Mar 6, 2024)

  • Deeper integration of the revived Microsoft Clippy (ClippySupreme) with BloatynosyAI. To find the classic Bloatynosy functions, simply search for 'supreme'.

New in Winpilot 2.2.0 (Mar 5, 2024)

  • Codebase updated and the chatbot assistant in Bloatynosy called "Ava" has been replaced by @microsoft Clippy (from my fun app ClippySupreme). While you're working with BloatynosyAI, Clippy will now support you. He's a bit cheekier and more aggressive than Ava, but that's just how it is after all the stuff Microsoft messed up ;)

New in Winpilot 2.1.82 (Feb 23, 2024)

  • Added a fresh action to scan the system for Copilot AI features.
  • Simply trigger a search for 'AI' to activate it. Turning off these functions is controlled through the same query.
  • New actions have also been learned, such as emptying the recyle bin.

New in Winpilot 2.1.80 (Feb 22, 2024)

  • Added a fresh action to scan the system for Copilot AI features.
  • Simply trigger a search for 'AI' to activate it. Turning off these functions is controlled through the same query.
  • New actions have also been learned, such as emptying the recyle bin.

New in Winpilot 2.1.60 (Feb 20, 2024)

  • This build brings better detection of preinstalled @microsoft apps, especially regarding newcomers like DevHome.

New in Winpilot 2.1.57 (Feb 19, 2024)

  • This build brings better detection of preinstalled @microsoft apps, especially regarding newcomers like DevHome. Even as a developer, I don't use this app, and if I want to use it, then I'll damn well download it myself. This stuff shouldn't be forced on us! Some of these preinstalled apps will now receive the label "Microsoft's Preinstall Sh*t" on the Pinned apps wall.

New in Winpilot 2.1.0 (Feb 17, 2024)

  • I've revisited the user interface and even partly oriented it around the Windows 11 Start menu. We also have a new app icon. Localization is functional. I have provided the German language file. To do this, simply search for "German or translate" in the chat box, execute, and update the app frontend.

New in Winpilot 2.0 Preview (Feb 12, 2024)

  • Today, BloatynosyAI enters a new era with the first preview version of version 2.0.
  • This marks a major release with a hybrid web app foundation (which was developed for the CoMachina app. BloatynosyAI may potentially merge with CoMachina, but this decision will be made together).
  • This version will be given the additional identifier "AI" by me and will now be called BloatynosyAI to emphasize the new Windows character. In addition to the ability to remove AI features in Windows, it also underscores the intelligent approach of the app itself. This version works now on Windows 10 and also supports localizations. If you want to translate the app, feel free to join the discussion here.
  • All modules have been translated and are also available in BloatynosAI. Some are in a slightly streamlined form, while others are more powerful and extensible.
  • How does it work?
  • The three central modules (Privacy, Bloatware Uninstaller, and App Installer) that we know from Bloatynosy are presented directly on the homepage. Plugins can be accessed, for example, via the keyword "Plugin" or "AI" to remove AI in Windows 11/10. Additionally, many other Windows functions can be accessed and controlled through the search bar. Just give it a try with some queries or keywords.

New in Winpilot 1.6.0 (Jan 28, 2024)

  • Here's another small maintenance update for Bloatynosy, along with a note that a significant part of Bloatynosy is already "emulated" in the new CoMachina app. CoMachina is a desktop assistant inspired by Microsoft Copilot. I suggest switching to this app as it works more intelligently, dynamically, and securely. Simply search for the keyword 'Bloatynosy' in CoMachina, and you'll find features similar to those you know from Bloatynosy.

New in Winpilot 1.3.244 (Dec 14, 2023)

  • The app continues to enjoy great popularity, and new and less experienced users have often approached me about usability issues as they don't always find their way around the app. I've addressed the logic of turning off features and settings using two baskets (similar to all other modules in the app).
  • So, you simply move what you want to change into the virtual "trash bin" and apply it. I would be interested in hearing your opinions on this. My first acquaintances managed fine without me saying anything ;)
  • Another ongoing issue is the name. Currently, we have about 10 million downloads (the name is thus familiar and ingrained), but almost half of the users find "Bloatynosy" a lousy name, including many who find it amusing (which is okay). Therefore, I am now launching an initial preview with a new app name "Appstrip." I thought to myself, if Elon Musk can do it, so can I ;)

New in Winpilot 1.3.187 (Dec 11, 2023)

  • The completely overhauled and improved program logic is currently running under the codename Ismene to distinguish it from the old version, as the changes are too substantial. I cannot confirm whether there will be further changes regarding the app name yet, and we will see how it develops with this release. We might consider starting a survey on that. Until then, take care.

New in Winpilot 1.3 Preview (Dec 10, 2023)

  • Hi everyone, it hasn't been long, and I still have some motivation left for this year. Yesterday, I worked on a revised program logic.
  • The app continues to enjoy great popularity, and new and less experienced users have often approached me about usability issues as they don't always find their way around the app. I've addressed the logic of turning off features and settings using two baskets (similar to all other modules in the app). So, you simply move what you want to change into the virtual "recycle bin" and apply it. I would be interested in hearing your opinions on this. My first acquaintances managed fine without me saying anything ;) Another ongoing issue is the name. Currently, we have about 10 million downloads (the name is thus familiar and ingrained), but almost half of the users find "Bloatynosy" a lousy name, including many who find it amusing (which is okay). Feel free to share your opinions and reactions here. I'm a bit more "reserved" this time regarding a name change, but I don't want to rule it out completely. The only thing that comes to mind is "X" or the "ElonApp."

  • So, guys! The most important work is done! The thing can safely be handed over to you.
  • Some fine-tuning is still needed here and there, and a few functions from the old version below 1.0 have been removed and could possibly come back. Overall, we now have a cleaner, more reliable, and faster codebase with a refreshed UI in the Windows 11 style. I will continue to integrate BloatyNosy more with the community (not Microsoft AI ) in the next versions—Reddit, GitHub, etc. recommendations — to provide users with more security in usage.

New in Winpilot 0.70.101 (May 9, 2023)

  • After the excitement three days ago - about the app being kicked out of the MS Store - I had to relax a bit and started working on the next big release. This release includes numerous fixes, code refactoring and a significant overhaul of the UI - mostly the main page. Some pages (about page) have also been removed. Among the app modules, we count AppyTrash for removing bloatware, WinModder for customizing Windows 11 with scripts, and InstaPackage for installing custom packages. The last remnants of the MS Store version have finally been removed.

All changes to date will be included in the store version, except for the InstaPackage module (this is currently banned in the store version.)

New in Winpilot 0.43.60 (Apr 8, 2023)

  • Improved BloatyNosy' BloatFinder app
  • Improved option of BloatFinder to add bloatware rated by community
  • Added option to BloatFinder to add the 10 most hated apps of Windows 11 to recycle bin
  • Revised import of profiles completely. BloatyNosy is now shipped with three preconfigured profiles (very basic OOBE, Gaming and Debloat profile). To do this, go to the three-dot/Kebap menu, select your desired profile, and click on 'Load profile'. I recommend the OOBE/Out-of-Box-Experience profile.
  • Allowing applications to run in the background was declared as an undesirable function. (Function in Privacy > Disable apps running in background)
  • Improved removal/uninstall of Widgets feature
  • Some features enjoy better naming

  • Minor fixes

New in Winpilot 0.42.0 (Apr 7, 2023)

  • Some app features have been removed that could cause conflicts with other apps or features of Windows 11
  • In the app store version, the "InstaPackage" app (app installer via winget for other apps. App Policies: 10.2.5) had to be deactivated as it violates store policies. It's surprising that the app made it to the store in the first place. I didn't expect anything different from the Microsoft
  • Numerous other small improvements. The app store version will be released later. I'm curious to see what other unwanted features Microsoft will find.

New in Winpilot 0.41.0 (Mar 27, 2023)

  • Several other fixes and improvements

New in Winpilot 0.31.0 (Feb 20, 2023)

  • I will have to change the app name (just in time). The app will now be called BloatyNosy (the "and", or the "& ampersand" will be abbreviated to 'n and omitted due to the "N" in "Nosy". Therefore, it will be written as just BloatyNosy instead of "Bloaty 'Nosy" or "Bloaty & Nosy").
  • The name "Debloos, Deblos" appears to be a family name and I have been "advised" not to use it further, if possible. I have no problem with it, and I have already had a good, bad, and funny experience with name changes.
  • With version 0.30, we are also on the way out of the early stable version and towards a proper stable version, and the name change doesn't hurt much either. Apologies for the inconvenience, ladies and gentlemen, blog operators, and everyone who knows me and writes about me and my work.
