New in Duplicate File Finder 2400 (Jan 14, 2024)
New in Duplicate File Finder 2318 (Nov 24, 2023)
- New function: you can easily find oldest and newest files in the list - newest duplicate will be colored by green color, and the oldest one by red. This new function will help you to manage large list of duplicates.
- Also, an important security changes were made to the core of our app. Due to the nature of security we cannot describe more details about this change.
New in Duplicate File Finder 2317 (Oct 15, 2023)
- Added new function:
- In the preferences of our app we have added a new option which you can turn off and turn on. This option lets you hide or show additional statistics (history of usage) which is located on the main screen of our app.
- Also, security of code signing has been improved.
New in Duplicate File Finder 2316 (Sep 14, 2023)
- You can now select several custom locations (paths or drives) at once to search for duplicate files. For example, local folder and a folder on the external storage (such as USB flash drive).
- The new function is available from the main screen of the app, and its similar to the previous interface, just click the link to add folders to the list.
- Improved translation to German language.
- Added translation to Czech language.
New in Duplicate File Finder 2315 (Jul 20, 2023)
- Privacy improvements:
- Our app will no longer collect technical information about your computer. All API which were related to data collection were removed from the app, starting this release. Technical information was related to hardware only, like how many processors you have or what is the screen resolution of your display. It's a completely anonymous information and helped us to better understand your needs. Please note that personal information was never collected and will never be collected.
New in Duplicate File Finder 2314 (Jun 13, 2023)
- Added new area in the app's settings - "Protection layers". It already has few new options (which are described below) and we will add few more with the next updates.
- Added new protection layer - app will try to protect you against accidental deletion of original files. In short: if you will try to delete last copy of some file (probably it will be an original file) - our app will warn you. So you won't loose your valuable data. This option can be disabled from the app's settings.
- Added new protection layer - app will warn you that deleted files has been moved to Recycle Bin, in case you will need to restore accidentally deleted file later. This is a good friendly reminder, because many of you even don't know that our app moves deleted files to Recycle Bin. You can also disable this option in the app's settings.
- Fixed bug when the app can freeze when deleting multiple files at once (when one of them isn't available).

New in Duplicate File Finder 2212 (Dec 8, 2022)
- With this update we are removing SHA1 code signing certificate from our executables. The SHA1 digest was deprecated by Microsoft many years ago. We keept it after that for many more years just to support old operating systems.
- From now on our code will be signed by modern SHA256 only. Thus, legacy systems, such as Windows 7 and earlier will see "unsigned executable" warning, because they don't recognize newest SHA256.
- You may still use our app, just click "yes" or "approve" to continue. Just a warning message on a legacy systems will change from normal blue to yellow warning.
- This change is related to legacy system only, such as Windows 7 and earlier. Windows 10 and 11 users will not be affected.
- Please accept our apologies, but we need to move forward, we can't stay with old digest in code signing forever. For those who worry about security - you can right click our file, select Properties, select digital signatures, and you will see that the code signing certificate is valid.

- Summer release includes several bug fixes and few good visual improvements:
- Added Hungarian translation (partial).
- Added new versioning policy: from now on version number will start with two digits - year of release, and two next digits will mean build number. The dot will be removed (but will remain in technical information).
- Improved user interface of several service screens.
- Increased interval for subscription reminder, it's increased from 60 days to 90 days. In other words, it will not disturb you too much.
- Fixed issue with the incorrect information on the License screen for owners of Professional version.
- Fixed issue with blinking menu. It should and it will blink, but will not crash anymore.

- Added new function - preview of duplicate pictures. Now you can click any item in the report and, if it's an image, a preview will appear on your right side. No need to browse pics, they will appear on the screen immediately for your convenience!

- Improved design - new look and style. Also, the program window now have one size for all screens, it will not change it's size automatically.
- Added new function - you can now include empty files in the report. It's a great option to find and remove useless empty files. To enable this function visit Settings.
- Added Dutch translation of the user interface (partial), big thanks to our volunteer Peter Medemblik.
- BUG FIXES:
- Fixed program crash when you click MD5 number to copy it to the clipboard.
- Removed almost 4K of programming codes that were useless. This will improve perfomance and reduce software conflicts.
- Removed statistics function, less information will be processed.

- NEW FEATURES AND IMPROVEMENTS:
- Improved design of report window - it's now smaller, plus, we reduced size of some fonts.
- Added new function to search for software updates manually. At any time, as you wish. You can access this option from the menu which is available under icon at the top right corner of an app's window. Note that automatic updates also enabled, thus there is no need to use this new option until you want it "right here, right now"...
- Added new option to turn off "typing effect" which you see in the title bar while the program loading or changing scenes. You can find this option by clicking system menu icon on the top right side of the program's window, then click menu option "About the app". This option can improve performance of slow computers or you can turn it off if you simply don't like it.
- Improved programming code in the few main functions for better performance.
- BUG FIXES AND REMOVED FUNCTIONS:
- Fixed bug when disabled typing effect result in overload of title bar.
- Fixed bug that displays wrong version number in "About" window.
- Fixed bug that says "Invalid argument = 0" when loading report.
- Removed encryption module; it was never used (less code - less bugs).

- IMPROVEMENTS:
- Added new function - skip files or folders by keyword. See Settings area for configuration of this new function. Less files or folders that overload your report! Filter them!
- Added indicator (counter) of skipped items.
- Improved notification period for messages about upgrading to Professional version. Previously, reminder window appeared every time. Now, it will appear once per 3 days, and only for days when you have used this software. This is very good news for users who wants to keep using our software for free.
- Improved English translations.
- Improved system menu (right top corner of an app window). Added few new options: language switcher and "About" window with general information about the app.
- BUG FIXES:
- Fixed incorrect text in the warning message that popups when you click checkboxes in the Settings area.
- Fixed couple of texts that were not translated from english to other languages.
