  • New, simplified user interface:
  • The new user interface is designed to simplify the management of locked resources. Now on the main screen, you can see the status of all analyzed resources and can check, unlock and delete required files and folders. The new Details pane located at the bottom of the main screen shows the status of the selected resource and a summary of the locks detected for this resource. Detailed information about all discovered locks is available in a special dialog where you can manage them.
  • New, simplified user interface:
  • When a network share is created for a file or folder, the shared resource becomes locked when other users access it. The program now detects this lock type. The program allows unlocking shared resources by closing opened share handles to files and folders. Share locks are discovered automatically and displayed together with other lock types.

New in EMCO UnLock IT 5.0.0 Build 1001 (Dec 22, 2017)

  • New UI, that allows to unlock multiple resources:
  • The program has a new UI, that is designed now to unlock multiple resources at once. Now you can add multiple resources to the program to allow the program to check their locks, unlock them or delete depending on your selection. The program displays the detected problems for a selected resource and shows the processes holding the locks and also shows detected problems with permissions, so you can review results and take the required action to unlock the resource.
  • Check and grant permissions:
  • In some cases a file system resource cannot be managed by a user because the user have insufficient privileges. The program allows detecting such problems. It reports the current permissions and allows to grant required permissions for the user to unlock the reource with a single mouse click.
  • Delete on the next boot:
  • If you need to delete a resource the program tried to unlock it and delete then using the regular procedure. If that approach fails, the resource is scheduled for deletion on the next boot, so the action is performed earlier than Windows processes and services can lock it. That is the safe way to delete the locked resources.

  • Brand new UI:
  • The user interface has been redesigned to represent information about locks in a simple and compact way and also provide one-click action to unlock a resource. The main form now displays a list of processes that lock a specified file or folder with the detailed information about every process including process name, description and path to executable file. The Unlock Resource button, located on the Ribbon bar allows to perform unlock with just a single mouse click.
  • Advanced unlock options:
  • When a process, that holds a lock, is selected, you can switch to the Actions page of the Locking Resources contextual page category on the Ribbon Bar and select action that you like to perform. In particular, you can kill selected processes or, if you need to keep them running, just close handles to locked resources that are owned by selected processes.
  • Closing file handles:
  • This new unlocking method allows closing file handles to locked resource. It allows to unlock a resource with no needs to kill processes that hold locks. It can be used in case, for example, when you need to unlock a file that is opened for modification by some application.
  • Closing library handles:
  • This new unlocking method can be used when you need to unlock DLL file that is used by running application. It allows to close library handles and doesn't require processes termination.
  • Intelligent resources unlocking:
  • Having the information about processes that hold locks to resource you can unlock it manually by closing file or library handles, or killing processes. You can use different methods for every locking process. Or using Unlock Resource button you can rely on an automatic procedure. In this case the application tries to unlock resource by closing file and library handles, and prompts you to kill processes only if other unlocking mechanisms have been failed.
  • Command line interface:
  • Now the application provides a command line interface and allows to check and unlock resources from a command line.

  • Improved UI:
  • User interface was updated to include latest UI features, available in other EMCO products. In particular, a set of improvements include: updated icons and main style, menus and Ribbon bars.
  • Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 support:
  • Starting from this version the application becomes compatible with Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2. Now it can work on these platforms to unlock locked resources. Also application can integrate with Windows Explorer on these platforms to provide context menu action for resources unlocking.
  • New UI skins:
  • Application comes with an extended set of UI skins. You can customize UI look by selecting one of strict or funny skin though a Skin Chooser.
  • Resolved issues:
  • Integration with Windows Explorer context menu does not work on Windows Vista and higher
  • Invalid detection of process owner and owner SID to be shown in process details

  • This version comes with fully reworked Ribbon interface. The new UI uses the same concepts as MS Office 2007 and provides improved context menus, enhanced screen tips, a mini toolbar and keyboard shortcuts that help to improve your efficiency and productivity.
  • Vista and x64 platforms support:
  • List of supported platforms was extended and now it includes Windows Vista and various x64 platforms. UnLock IT functionality was changed accordingly to support User Account Control (UAC). UAC allows execution with administrative permissions under Vista by default that makes integration into context menu of Windows Explorer a really painless task.
  • Select a locked Folder button:
  • If you need to unlock locked folder, you can use Select a locked Folder button to browse and pick required folder using visual interface.
  • Resolved issues:
  • Data in Process Modules list doesn't refreshed when another process selected in Locked by combo-box.
  • Process information is incorrectly retrieved under Windows 2000.
