New in FORTE Free 4.1.3 (Jun 26, 2013)

  • Enhanced Launch Assistant:
  • The Launch Assistant guides you now directly to the Library and to the Score Wizard.
  • The Score Wizard:
  • Now you can create your score from scratch in just a few seconds. The Score Wizard will guide you and help you define the essential elements of your score: title, composer, instrumentation, tonality, time signature, tempo, etc. A tremendous time saver!
  • Simplified Copy Functions:
  • Copy a whole bar or a series of bars in one step at any point of your score any number of times with the new command "Edit menu > Copy Measures...". This is especially helpful if you work with drum or percussion patterns or in the repetition of whole parts. You save a lot of time. You can also copy single elements to any location much more easier with the new command "Edit menu > Paste at...".
  • New Transposition Feature:
  • The transposition feature became much more easier. The new action "Transpose by Key" allows you to transpose your score just by selecting the tonality you wish to transpose to, e.g. from D major to E major. The direction of the transposition can also be changed. The default action "Transpose" has been renamed to "Transpose by Interval".
  • Adding an Instrument Simplified:
  • Now it is much easier to add an instrument. Simply choose the desired instrument out of the instrumental list with the command "Document menu > Add Instrument...". You save many steps you had to take before using the properties window. The added instrument has already the correct staff type, sound, clef and key.
  • Personal Score Library:
  • You can now save your own scores in the Library using the command "File menu > Save In Library...". In addiction to that, all scores from the Library and templates you created will be saved in the folder 'My Documents' (on Windows XP) or 'Documents' (on Windows Vista or higher). This change is very important and will keep your scores and templates on a common place to all future versions of the FORTE.
  • Add Note Names:
  • With the new action "Add Note Names" you can simply write the note names below the notes. This is especially helpful for preparing music lessons
  • Text elements can now be moved just by using drag and drop.
  • New repetition symbols has been added: "D.C. con rep.", "D.S. con rep." etc.
  • The number of the first measure can now be changed (Document menu > Edit Layout... > Options).
  • A new option in the 'Velocity' action allows the deletion of notes containing a certain velocity (i.e. loudness).
  • Updates will now be automatically downloaded and installed.
