FRSTrainTracker Changelog

What's new in FRSTrainTracker 1.1.3

Mar 26, 2021
  • Fixed:
  • After sizing the main window, its new size wasn't being remembered.

New in FRSTrainTracker 1.1.2 (Mar 26, 2021)

  • Fixed:
  • When using the “Edit | Change All Photo File Paths...” menu command, the thumbnail preview images weren't being refreshed with the new file paths set.
  • Web Reports: thumbnail images sometimes weren't shown on generated web pages.
  • Web Reports: Changing the template folder for one web report always automatically changed all the other web reports' template folder, but that was not the correct behavior; each web report can have its own template folder set, if so desired.
  • “Web Reports” window: pressing the Enter key no longer dismisses the window.
  • “Web Reports” window: sorting the grid differently didn't renumber the rows.
  • When adding the very first web report, it wasn't shown in the “Web Reports” window after it was set up (it was created; just not shown in the window itself).
  • Added:
  • Web Reports: added support for the "{IF_HAVE_DATA_BEGIN}",
  • "{IF_HAVE_DATA_ELSE}", "{IF_HAVE_DATA_END}" trio of tags, to identify template content that should not be used if there is no data to show in the report.
  • “Web Report Tags” window: you can copy the web tag's text without the curly-braces if you hold the Ctrl key down while clicking on any of the “Copy” buttons.
  • “Web Reports” window: added the ability to set a common parent folder for the output folder for all the web reports (useful for when you have or want to move the output of all the web reports to a different location on your computer. Also added that ability to change the common templates folder. Changed the groupings of the buttons on that window a bit to group them better.

New in FRSTrainTracker 1.1.1 (Sep 3, 2020)

  • Fixed:
  • Web Reports: a small but problematic error was found in the “Web Reports Settings” window

New in FRSTrainTracker 1.1.0 (Sep 3, 2020)

  • Fixed:
  • Some data corruption was possible (look for funny characters); data is no longer saved in encrypted format.
  • Web Reports: single- and double-quotes weren't handled correctly.
  • Changed:
  • Multi-line edit fields were limited to 32,000 characters, but that restriction has now been lifted.
  • Regular Reports: removed the wizard-style (step-by-step) way of setting up or changing settings for reports, to a single-window format.
  • Regular Reports: when exporting data, you will now be prompted for which data-field separator (i.e. delimiter) you want to use (previously they were hard-wired based on the file extension you selected for the output file; leaving it blank continues this same method).
  • Importing data now supports using the “^” (hat) character as a possible separator.
  • Web Reports: removed the wizard-style (step-by-step) way of setting up or changing settings, to a single-window format.
  • Web Reports: the window that lists all of the available web reports has been redesigned as well, to make it easier to select which reports should be generated, and to now support duplicate report names.
  • All Reports: the sort direction used for dates and yes/no flags has been changed, so you may need to change the sort direction for those of any reports that use those kinds of data fields for their sorting. For example, if you sorted by date in ascending direction, you'll need to change the report to sort by date in descending direction now.
  • Some of the text shown in the application's “About” window has been changed.
  • Added:
  • “FRSTrainTracker | History” sub-menu, to show PDF files of FRSTrainTracker's history, one for each major version.
  • “FRSTrainTracker | Windows Desktop Shortcut”, to be able to add/remove a shortcut to FRSTrainTracker to/from the Windows Desktop (similar to what is offered in the installation program).
  • “FRSTrainTracker | Windows Start-up Shortcut”, to be able to add/remove a shortcut to FRSTrainTracker to/from the Windows Start-up folder (this allows Windows to start FRSTrainTracker when you log in or boot-up your computer; similar to what is offered in the installation program).
  • “Edit | Change All Photo File Paths...”, to set the photo file paths, after you have moved the photos to a different drive or folder.
  • “Edit | Change All Data File Paths...”, to set the data file paths, after you have moved the data files to a different drive or folder.
  • “Edit | Validate All File Paths...”, to verify that all photo file and data file paths, as entered, actually still exist.
  • “Edit | Validate All Web Site Addresses...”, to verify that all web site addresses, as entered, actually still exist.

New in FRSTrainTracker 1.0.5 (Feb 15, 2019)

  • Fixed:
  • Application could crash when editing the DCC CV values for first time.
  • The settings data file could get corrupted when the application was running when the computer was being shut down or rebooted.
  • Data corruption was seen on occasion in address data, due to decrypting of encrypted data.
  • There were several issues with editing the content of a grid cell.
  • The "Custom Sort Definitions" window didn't redraw the "Sort By Data Fields" grid when moving fields up or down that list.
  • The order of the fonts in the "Font Settings" window was wrong.
  • Unable to select applications in the "Settings | File Associations..." menu's window.
  • The "Calendar Special Dates" window, when editing a Personalized entry, didn't acknowledge the selection of the month.
  • The Easter-related dot colors in the calendars wasn't set right, and didn't respond to color-selection changes.
  • The address-type windows weren't handling long texts in their "Notes" field too well (scrollbar problems, e.g.).
  • When printing, the first page was always printed twice.
  • Changed:
  • The Documentation Center window's texts have been improved, and expanded in some areas.
  • Changed the "Custom Sort Definitions" window, from using icons-only buttons to showing icons and text.

New in FRSTrainTracker 1.0.4 (Jul 7, 2018)

  • Selecting a file to export data to was not possible.

New in FRSTrainTracker 1.0.3 (Jun 22, 2018)

  • Fixed:
  • Text entered into any of the main window's multi-line edit fields was not always saved to the data file.
  • Removed duplicate name in "Road Name" data field's selection list.
  • "Settings | File Associations..." did not list applications from which to choose.
  • When printing a report, the first page was always printed twice.
  • "FRSTrainTracker | About..." always showed "today" as the last-run date.
  • When exporting data, embedded new lines (when using the Enter key in multi-line data) caused text to not be output correctly.
  • If the photo files were modified outside of FRSTrainTracker, the thumbnail photo shown would sometimes not be updated.
  • Changed:
  • Removed the "Welcome-to-FRSTrainTracker" speech at application start-up, because it was causing problems on some systems.
  • Accordingly, removed the "Settings | Play Welcome Message at Start-up" menu command.
  • The Documentation Center window is no longer a stand-alone window, but rather integrated into each window itself.
  • Added:
  • The last-viewed entry is re-selected when the application is started again.
  • "Quantity" data field (it is initially hidden, so click on the "Field | View Hidden Fields..." menu command to show it, if desired).

New in FRSTrainTracker 1.0.2 (Jun 13, 2018)

  • Fixed:
  • When selecting an archive via "FRSTrainTracker | Restore Data File...", the application crashed (the restore itself worked fine).
  • When pressing the previous or next entry button to the right of the Inventory selection list, their repeater functionality was defeated.
  • When clicking on "Field | Can be Summed", the setting change wasn't saved.
  • When clicking on "Field | Can be Averaged", the setting change wasn't saved.
  • Drop-down selection lists in the grid displayed to the left of the cell that was being modified.
  • The title of the window displayed when clicking on "Field | Add..." menu command was wrong.
  • The last-modified date shown in the statusbar wasn't updated when data changes were made in the grid.
  • When the application was maximized (full-screen), the Documentation Center was moved off-screen.
  • Changed:
  • The "Field | Add..." menu command now checks for a duplicate data field name, which is not allowed.
  • When making a selection change in the Inventory selection list, the focus now goes to the grid below it.
  • When selecting a previously-viewed entry, the display should be faster now when you have one or more photos shown.
  • "FRSTrainTracker | More Info" was renamed to "FRSTrainTracker | Documentation" to match our standard.
