What's new in Community Chat 6.0

  • Community chat v.6.0 is based on the new Flashcoms chat engine which provides robust performance even in highly loaded environments. The latest Flashcoms framework brings absolute control over skin/interface management and high scalability in application configuration.
  • With integrated whiteboard multiple users are able to draw on the same common canvas simultaneously. A number of available drawing tools along with the ability to set custom background image opens up new possibilities for e-learning and online conferencing.
  • Built in mp3 player allows users to upload and playback their favorite music. All files are stored on the server and can be shared with other Chat members. Users can organize and save their own playlists, search for specific songs, upload new mp3 files and many more.
  • With IM Gateway chat users can access their MSN, AIM, Yahoo and ICQ messenger account from any place at any time. IM Gateway has all core features of regular desktop messenger software such as chat, friends list and contacts manager.
  • Game Zone provides chat members with an ability to create or join multi-user games such as Chess, Checkers, Noughts and crosses. Each game room includes text chat, game alerts and A/V chat which creates an atmosphere of real presence in the game.
  • Built-in handwriting module extends messaging functionality allowing to draw pictures and to send handwritten messages. The easy-to-use iintuitive formatting tool will bring personalization to every created message.
  • Flashcoms Video Chat v 6.0 introduces a new advanced administration panel for custom application setup and configuration. Advanced moderation features, such as ban, kick, gag, report and more provide chat moderators with total control over chat activity.

New in Community Chat 5.0 (Oct 5, 2007)

  • True multi-rooms chat support - Community video chat supports multiple admin- and user-created chat rooms. A new cool feature is the possibility to chat in several rooms simultaneously. Users must join each room only once and then they can easily switch between them using the Room Tabs on the top of the chat.
  • Private chat rooms - Private chat is a new useful feature of Video chat 5.0 application. It allows opening private chats with different users inside the main chat area. A user can have any number of private chats opened at a time and can switch between them using the tabs on the top of the chat. When a user is invited to private chat he can either accept or decline the invitation. Private chat will not start before the chat invitation is accepted.
  • Skin support - Now Video Chat supports multiple skins a user can select from. In addition to 10 default skins admin can add as many custom skins as needed. Please read Custom Skin article to learn more about how to create/add a new skin.
  • Avatar mode support - Video chat 5.0 supports two user list modes: regular user list with icons and photo/avatar mode. In the avatar mode the user list is presented by a small user picture (pulled out from his profile) and a user name. Admin can switch between these two modes easily.
  • Advanced administration - Advanced administration module with many new options is integrated. Numerous moderation and management features have been added and chat-embedded mode is supported.
  • Enhanced design - Video chat 5.0 has new stylish and user friendly design which complies with its enhanced functionality. With multiple skins supported and simple skin modification Video chat 5.0 can be easily adjusted to any website look and feel.
  • New modules - Video chat 5.0 supports many new modules which can enhance video chat performance and adjust the application to your website needs. Among advanced new modules there are such plugins as Drawing, Mp3 Player, Banner rotation, Premoderation, Talk button etc. Full modules list is available on the PLUGINS page.
  • Password protected rooms - This feature was added to allow users to have private conversation with more than one user in one window. Password protected rooms can be created both by admins and regular users (unless it is prohibited by admin). Access to these rooms is possible with password only, so users can invite only those users they want to join their room.
  • Integrated advanced user help system - Video chat 5.0 is more feature rich application so it required an advanced help system for users. An extensive user help module with multiple topics/articles has been integrated and can be modified by admin. For first time users help section is opened by default on entering the chat.
  • Friends/Block list - In Video Chat 5.0 every registered chat user will be able to manage his friends/block list in the video chat. This list is fully integrated with user profile friends, so once a user entered the chat, he will see the list of his friends who are currently in the chat.
  • Prohibit/Allow view my webcam - Apart from disabling a webcam for all users, in the Video Chat 5.0 a user can disable/enable his webcam for any single user individually. When someone opens user�s video, "watching" icon appears beside his name in the user list. Clicking this icon enables/disables the user watching your video.
  • Pause my web cam / mic - This new feature allows users to pause video publishing whenever they need. Just click "pause" button in My Webcam area to stop the video. �Paused� alert will show up on the last cam screenshot and a specific sign will appear on your webcam icon indicating that your video is on pause.
